and racing hard only for the impreza.
Which has led me to conclude that conditions will be set to stay dry?

Edit: Anyone testing tonight? I can be on soon & fancy giving my new Honda a try. I've had a few Manhattan's after work so I might be really erratic. :)

going to be 80% wet to the individual whose laptime is under 1:56.500 :P:P

i joked... it's going to be constant dry weather.
I'm happy to race in the wet. 👍

It would render my testing moot but I reckon everyone else would be struggling too so anything could happen & it could be interesting. :boggled:

With regards to the lap time:
I've put about 1200km on the car to get that time & on my first run out I was only half a second slower. :banghead:
Hopefully the time was well spent though, I have more consistency on that track now than before.

Right, I'm logging in now. Anyone on? I can barely see.

Edit:
After 20ish laps, i got a 1:55.5 a couple times, but consistency issues kept me in the 1:55.5 to 1:56.5 range.
100% wet & Comfort Hards for @Squatch7 should keep things more even around the field?

Edit again: I think Racing Hard provides a worse experience in wet conditions than Comfort Hard. So anyone in the 55's should be given RH & their own personal rain cloud?

eventually, tonight I found a setup that I am a bit more consistent and comfortable...

I did two 1:55.9xx and one 1:55.894...

then some 1:56.mid-low....

I lost quite a bit of time on the last two sectors...

however... it's tonight.... I hope I can duplicate the same groove on Thu night.....

i won't be able to run at the moment... but later tonight.....
I did 50 minutes with a looser setup, very similar to how I had it at first, to see how the tyres fared. Every time I change something, I decide it's faster, then change my mind again. My lap times haven't changed that much since I first started testing & I still don't know what to do in the final chicane.

Last night I opened a lobby for Mid-Field but didn't get round to doing anything with it. Just sat in the pits & got hammered instead. :)

I thought you are getting faster and consistent with your laptime.. (from 57 to 56)... no?

the last chicane... all that matters is preparing for the final right hander... also it's a bit incline thus too much/early throttle will cause understeer.

Slightly, yes. But I had some 56's on my very first attempt too.

I did a run this afternoon with slightly more stable settings & did the full 50 minutes without ever going slower than two or three 58's. Every single other lap was 57's & high 56's

Tonight, looser, I got into the 56's easily at the start (56.3 & 56.4 early on) but the tyre wear slowed me down to high 58's towards the end (the opposite way round from my very first attempt - when 58's at the start dropped to 56's later in the run).

I think the slight improvement overall is just through practice. Maybe if I finalised my choices of settings early on & practiced with the same tune the whole time, that would have been better still.
I haven't done enough tuning in the past to know quickly enough whether a slight change in the tune is an improvement.

your progress is normal, especially right now you are starting with 56s and finishing with 58(because of worn tires)

as long as the tune/setting is making you comfortably driving on your driving line and the car "listen" to you... then you are pretty much on the right path.

btw, S2000, i am having 1:16.7 with RM and 16s.low with RS.

edit: it's either a typo or I was out of my mind when typing... it should be 1:06.7 and 06s.low

did one more test last night at both tracks forgot to copy my best time on twin ring so had to work on that more then i wanted last night and only flat lining 157. almost .4 of my best time

the s2000 i tried a tricky set-up which runs good but not for a long period of time.

now with that being said if we remember mt. panorama i started slow but was by the end i was driving possessed.

now with that also being said i hope when alex said he was 1.16.7 i hope that was a miss-type or i'm screwed

The twin ring is a pretty "risky business"....

if you are alone and drive on the edge lap by lap then you can pretty much get 56.mid all the time.... BUT.... a little mistake and take you down to 57 or even 58....

that means... do you wanna drive crazy during the race? plus there'll be traffic and battle with other drivers...

Steady and consistent is the key of the Twin Ring race.

About the Midfield race... laptime could get a bit crazy, downforce and braking plays a big role since most of the corners are high speed, but the longest straight comes out from the slowest hairpin. How to handle that chicane+hairpin sequence can cost or shave 0.3-0.5s from the laptime.

Also, look after the tire-wear and when to pit in for tires change is very critical.

I've just done a test run. A 50 minute race with a tyre change, in a lobby on my own.

Unless you guys are playing mind games, I must have something wrong. I've checked post #2 again & can't see anything that's off.

I really shouldn't be faster than either of you two. Maybe I was at the wrong track?

RS in the Honda i ran a 1:15.4.....RM i ran just a few laps but seemed to be about .5 off that time. Haven't done a tire wear run, so i have no idea how it will hold up.

Something is definitely wrong with how I'm reading the regs because I did 1:07 & 1:08 for pretty much the whole race.
I'll find out what I've got wrong when the lobby doesn't let me enter the race.

what laptime do you have on the S2000??

edit: never mind, just saw your 2nd post

I was hoping to touch 1:05.xxx with RS, but you are doing 1:05 with RM... outerspace resident... outerspace resident... :scared::scared:

I haven't even driven mine yet, I've been so busy doing GTPSCS manager stuff (aka re-testing BoP for Bathurst) that I'm hoping my tune I have on the car doesn't need much help.

You will be fine. Even in stock set up it was pretty quick, not too far off times we have been posting. I just tweaked suspension to help rotation and that's about it. For both cars.

You've also been re-classified as a Gold Driver in the GTP Sportscar Series, I hear?

Your hearing is very good sir. I received it for what I can only presume was consistency in the London 12 hour and Daytona 24. I still don't believe I'm Gold pace, but I guess we can find that out tonight. ;)
