My thoughts on the SRTs.

Someone asked, in other game, if I knew what was the definition of insanity... well, I guess now I do know...

That's no car. It's a stealth fighter.

Well the Cadillac Cien is based in the F-22... And the Reventon is also inspired in it... So that Lambo is next Gen Stealth fighter... I wonder what will come next...

The Tomahawk S is the entry level machine to prep players for the incredible performance of the Tomahawk series; but the specs of the "S" are already off the charts. The 7.0-litre wide-angle V-10 is tuned to deliver 792 hp (compared with 645 hp for the 8.4-litre V-10 in the 2015 Dodge Viper). The pneumatically driven front wheels add 215 hp, for total system output of 1,007 hp. With a curb weight of 2,026 pounds, this version of the SRT Tomahawk is the heaviest, yet it has a top speed in excess of 250 mph.

Race tuning pushes output of the V-10 to 1,137 hp, while the air-driven front wheels add 313 hp for a total system output of 1,450 hp. Aggressive weight-cutting techniques whittles the curb weight of the Tomahawk GTS-R to 1,459 pounds (the lightest of any version) and the top speed in excess of 300 mph.

This is the ultimate Tomahawk that incorporates a variety of experimental technologies. With a redline set at 14,500 rpm, the V-10 engine pumps out 2,168 hp (nearly three times the output from the base Tomahawk S). The front wheel drivetrain contributes an additional 422 hp at peak, for a total output of 2,590 hp. That gives the Tomahawk X a top speed of 404 mph. Due to the extreme performance of the X version, the driver is required to wear a G-suit to withstand the extreme cornering forces.

Wow. We just got the Peugeot with 1 kilogram per horsepower, and now the Tomahawk GTS-R has barely more than a POUND per horsepower? This thing is going to be crazy. I just wonder how light the X model is. I think the top speed of the X describes itself: I can't find anything to describe the insanity of this car.

I'm just curious as to what the transmission is. The trailer shows the car (Probably the GTS-R model) reaching 371 mph in 5th gear.

Just call it the Insanity X project and be done with it. :P

From the descriptions given, the S model is the heaviest (what kind of company is it in where a little over 2000 pounds is classed as the heaviest?!) and GTS-R is the lightest so the X project should be smack bang in the middle in terms of weight.

Which would be around 1740 pounds. Still pretty light.

For the power it makes, it's absurdly light, 1000 pounds works out at around 450kg if I recall correctly.

So the S model is just a hair over 900kg and the GTS-R works out at less than 700kg.

Edit: the X model comes in at 1,658 pounds according to one article on the Tomahawk.

Even better. Only just under 90 pounds less than the average of the two, but whatever. The extra 200 pounds of the GTS-R won't make a difference when it's almost twice as powerful.
 
These three versions reminds me of the Porsche 918 and it's Wessaic package.

Only if the Weissach package actually added a couple of SRBs.

I love how in the presentation video they start by saying how realistic Gran Turismo is. "Yeah, Gran Turismo has physics so realistic we decided to use it as a testbed to see what would happen if we made a car with the power output of a Tyhpoon-class submarine and the active aero of a Gundam".

404 mph top speed, guys. That's almost 700 kph.
 
First of all I was expecting 2 versions not 3 and I sure as hell was not expecting the X version.

They all look cool and have crazy headline grabbing figures. I can already tell how my order of preference will go too. It will be S, GTS-R then X. The X is designed to perform at a level I won't enjoy playing like the Red Bull X2015 is.

Like all VGTs I am very much looking forward to trying it. Plenty of people complain about VGT but it has given us some extraordinary cars.
