To those who are ok with Standards - this is the problem. I know that only 4 or 5 people have said so, but being ok with Standards may give PD the impression that we don't mind them, and I fear that this could lessen PD's reason to upgrade them.
I seriously doubt this. The boards are a pretty good microcosm of the millions of fans who get into this game, and a few grouchy journalists let their views be known to the world as well. I don't think upgrading at least some of the Standard cars and making them all moddable was on a whim because PD had some idle time.

A bunch of us love the Standards. I do as much as anyone, and from what I recall, every one of us said they should be improved, as well as Premium-ising significant cars as they go along, like the Supra MkIV, Countachs and Veyron. Reskinning them should be a top priority because that can be knocked out fairly quickly, but I also think they should get a modeling facelift as well, not just on-the-fly tesselation. With the Countach being made Premium, I can see that the team is listening to our concerns.

Now the question is, how many can be race modded? ;)

if we see a quality like the Bugatti Veyron ( which was one of the best standarts in GT5 ), or even better it would be quite ok. I don't think we'll see something like the (Nomad) Diablo again, this car was really crappy ( but good to drive ).
Well, there were two kinds of "crappy." The Nomad Diablo seemed to have a reasonably good model but heavily compressed skin. Cars like the Opel Speedster (which I believe is an unrefined GT3 model!), and Astra Touring Car have pretty bad faceting. I don't think that PD should rely on tesselating on the fly to help them, but rework those models a bit, or make them Premium. Reskin them too. I just don't see "TOTF" as the solution.

i don't drive with interior view because to me it's a bit unrealistic and more difficult to drive. if you drive in a real car your viewfield is much bigger than you've with the interior view in GT5.
I've been saying this a lot too. For many of us, the cockpit view is too low and far back, like we're driving Lambo style reclining way back, and this is one of the key reasons I insist that PD give us the options to adjust all driver views to suit us. I might change to cockpit view if I can fix the darn thing.

I was expecting there would be less overall cars and specifically less or even no standard cars. Not that I thought there would be that many receiving the full scan / premium upgrade but I was hoping some of the unnecessary model / country variations of Skylines, RX-7s, MX-5s, S2000s and such would have been removed.
On the bold part, I think a few million of our friends who drive on the left or righthand side of the car might differ on this. As a Yank, I can adjust okay to driving on the right side on those rare occasions I do the inside thing, but some people struggle with changing their real life views.

I figured there would be around 500 some odd cars myself, all Premium, but I went out on a limb and predicted 1100, which of course would require a good number of Standards returning. I'm delighted, because most of the cars I race in GT5 by far are Standard, and I'm looking forward to trying them out with the new physics modeling.

I got over the shock of Standards in GT5 pretty quickly. Clearly others haven't still, so I say let them rant. Blowing off steam is therapeutic. Now if they never stop giving us a hard time about it, especially after it ships, that's a bit much.

LOL at gt have 2 sets of quality for cars and different feature sets. Moronic.

Moronic? Sounds like the comments of someone really in the know.
How many morons do you know that have made a multi million seller and, drive in the Nurburgring 24hrs?

If Kaz has said that ALL cars can be taken to travel photomode, I get the impression the exteriors will be of an exeptional quality.

Remember when GT Prologue was out, PD would update the quality of the interiors every now and then. Maybe they will do the same over time with the new Stemium (Standard / Premium) cars.

On a side note, would anyone pay 50p - £1 for a cars interior through DLC?

I should let them do so as well and not butt in. -_- But hey, at least I won't have to care anymore. ;)

Wow very well said Nurburgthing. 👍

I honestly don't see any of the Standards being able to be Race Modded, well, at least to the level of lets say the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.

Realistically speaking, we know that wheels and wings are a given since we saw this happen in GT5.

Keeping the "attach aero part" mentality, adding a carbon fiber type front splitter under the existing car front bumper could be done as well as carbon fiber type side skirts.

I am hopeful for a livery placement system of some type so I can at least place numbers and sponsors on all the street-to-race machines I build.

This standard car thing will go on and on in my opinion (at least in regards to future GT games featuring last generation car models).

GT7 will have have GT5/GT6 car models I'm sure, and then you can make a case for GT8 following suit, GT8 cars in GT9 for PS5 and so on. It's just now we have the biggest and most noticeable differences between the two generations (PS2 and PS3).

I would love to see a better then "black silhouette" in GT6 for the standard cars but I'm not holding my breath. As has been said before, GT5's way of stuffing all the standards into the UCD was horrible, I'd much rather see all the cars (Premium and Standard) together in a massive Dealership, side by side. The game will then truly feel like a car encyclopedia and will be awesome in my opinion regardless of differing quality.

So I believe we need to get over this standard car thing as it will surely be the norm in future GT's.

So we can't discuss any topics with positive and negative opinions in one thread, we have to instead post in a designated 'whiner' thread? That isn't how forums work, or life for that matter. It's not all sunshine and roses with everything else hidden away in one place.

Sunshine and roses are not how GT6 is viewed. If people want to moan about standard cars, or about how GT6 has other faults, theres a thread for that. You got anything to add or you just here to stir up the pot?

Standard cars are in GT6. They will be improved. Some will have interiors. Some won't. They will be fully customisable. That is all you need to know about standard cars in GT6 in one small paragraph so why can't the rest of you manage to keep your posts relatively small?

I didn't realise board space was on a ration. It's called discussion.

I'm not stirring anything up, I'm simply saying that in a thread about standard cars people are quite free to post their opinions rather than be directed to a thread specifically for moaning which shouldn't even exist.

you say it!

it is exactly like you said and there's not much more to talk about i think. it is like that and we've to live with it.

And that thread isn't the one about the Standard cars? Interesting.

Now the question is, how many can be race modded? ;)

The answer to that should be "every one that has a Premium race moddable equivalent." And I'm hopeful PD fixes it this time. Never understood why you could race mod, say, both of the Premium Lotus Elise models, but not any of the Standard Lotus Elise models (Motorsports Elise being the exception).

Opinions are different from complaining about the game. The thread does exist. Its not up to us to decide if it does or doesn't, but the title is fitting for those complaints.
And that thread isn't the one about the Standard cars? Interesting.

Observational, aren't you? What people 'accept' if their own preference. Complaining about it is not this threads topic, agreed?

Indeed. Here's another observation: You're not a moderator, so you don't get to dictate who can't post what where.

And no, not agreed. This thread is about Standard cars. Period. That includes all reactions to them, not just the ones that you want to see; with the rest shoved off in some other thread where you don't have to see them. So by all means complain that people should be taking complaints about a specific topic to some other thread rather than the thread the specific topic is about, but also by all means don't expect anyone to actually do it.

 really? I said theres a thread for complaining about GT6, that doesn't equate to me trying to moderate, pal.

So by reading my post you can discern which replies "i want to see"? Some weird perception you have. You don't know anything about what replies or topics I favor. 👎 I don't 'want to see' arguing in thread after thread over some 'standard car quality' we have yet to see.

So let me try to understand this properly. You're not trying to moderate what people talk about when you tell them that this isn't the thread to complain about something that is in the thread title because complaints belong in the complaint thread instead. And you're not trying to do that on the basis of what you want to see in the thread when you justify it by saying that you don't want to see people arguing in multiple threads about the thing in the thread title.

Glad we could clear that up.

👍

Wrong. Like usual. I said "take it to the whiners thread if you want to complain about it". Not "don't talk about that here", not "this isn't the thread for that". Again, you're altering my intentions with your perception of what you think I meant. That seems the norm for you, though. :dopey: Assuming and accusing.

Not really that different when you think about it. You are telling them to stop posting in this thread because they are whining, and instead go post in a thread titled "the whiners thread." The only reason it was brought up by you is because you "dont want them to talk about it" here and because you think "this isnt the thread" for people to be whining about standard cars, even though they are discussing things that are exactly on-topic with the thread it is in.

In that case, there shouldnt be any sub forums. That being said there should be absolutely no forums separating different games, just have a 1 thread titled "games" and smash every single game thread into one, whether it be GT, Forza, or even Grid.. I mean they are all talking about games right?. Cant forget to have a separate thread for the complaints though.

Oh I agree, I don't want to remove country variations in terms of US cars are left hand drive, British cars are right hand drive and such, that's fine and makes perfect sense. Just to clarify, I'd meant that I don't think we necessarily need 3 different regional versions of the same car. As an example we have the '01 Honda S2000 as well an (EU) and (US) version, do we really need to have 3 versions of the same car like that?

I'm certainly pretty curious how "if people want to moan about Standard cars, there is a thread for that" (which you said) and "this isn't the thread for that" (which you're claiming you didn't say) aren't the exact same statement in the context of "Take it to the whiners thread if you want to complain about it" (which you also said).

Anyway, I'm curious about the no interiors thing. Getting some deja vu with the circumstances behind how Kaz said that. Does "no interiors" mean "go back to how GT5 launched"; even though they all sorta have interiors now?

standard cars -_- i have no words... what a shame, im the biggest gt fan, but i really got tired of pd blindness, they really only want to sell the game. they dont care about us loyal customers, for the first time i doubt about bying the next gt

I agree but what does the inclusion of standard cars have to do with fan loyalty?

There is a difference. Take the whining thread for example, thats the thread that says it in the title. Saying theres a thread for that isn't me saying thats the only place you are allowed to be in disproval of standard cars. That would be like saying to those who favor standard cars can only talk about it in a specific thread. Alikeness doesn't mean the same.

Read above and don't waste your time replying. Stop assuming and trying to fill in the blanks to reach an agenda of yours. Its silly to live that way, you should get out more! :)

It could either that he's removing the interiors all together of maybe even possibly only on most of them and is putting better detailed interiors on the better standards such as the Veyron or Jaguar XFR. Well, that's what I think anyway.

Thats fine, but why bring it up if you arent trying to imply that all complaints should be in that thread. There was no point to even mention it if we are going by what you just posted right now, to be honest.

Thats what you think. Theres reason is to bring it to attention if he shares the feeling others have, theres a thread for that! Really simple. If there were people who view things in a different manner than singling on the negative you could see there in my post that by saying take the whinging to that thread, he would be in good company instead of asking why people would accept these 'standard cars'. 👍

At this point I would have been more annoyed if they removed all the standard cars, I had a feeling they would be in GT6 so it doesn't bother me. 👍

Why go to a different thread, when he's discussing on a thread that has to do with the topic at hand? There is no need. It doesnt matter if hes agreeing or disagreeing, everything his posting is relevant to this exact thread. So instead of implying that he should go to the whining thread, and trying to dictate to him where to post, why not let him just stay discussing the topic at hand.

If later, he wants to post in that thread then thats up to him. I would rather post in a thread that has to do with exactly and/or only with what I wanted to post about, rather then be in a general complaint thread where it will be hard to get a discussion because everyone is just all over the place.

He's in the correct thread, so theres no need for you to mini-mod his posts.

On a side note, would anyone pay 50p - £1 for a cars interior through DLC?

I think this could work if introduced much later on down the line. I think people would be pretty upset to see DLC like this day 1. But +1 year down the line, I think I would be happy to see that. Then you could just buy the 1 or 2 interiors of the cars you like/drive the most. You aren't forced to buy it, and you're not really missing out on gameplay if you don't buy it, but it's a nice bonus for those who could update some of their favourite cars.

You got owned @bigspleen

@all - *snip* personal digs and attacks in this thread is not acceptable, the next person to forget that you play the argument not the person will be getting a 48 hour time out.
