Take it to the whiners thread if you want to complain about it. Standard cars are in GT6, if you don't want them in your game then GT6 aint for you. Simple enough, right? And before you say things for certain you will have to have GT6. No one does.

Its not complex at all. Thread title says it. Standard cars are confirmed. What they look like inside or out is not confirmed.

So we can't discuss any topics with positive and negative opinions in one thread, we have to instead post in a designated 'whiner' thread? That isn't how forums work, or life for that matter. It's not all sunshine and roses with everything else hidden away in one place.

This is actually the way it works on forums that are tightly knit with the developers of said games (most likely paid to promote the game in a favorable light). It's the same way with Capcom and the Capcops over on SRK forums.

Heres a 25%~50% slow motion of the GT6 Concept video.

As you can see from the 0:32 mark onwards, standard GT's and Proto's look essentially the same.

I'm still not sure why others are still mad at the standard cars, as well there appearances that some believe will look just like GT5's even though we haven't saw them yet... Well I know one thing though, and that thing is we should wait for more information regarding them...

This forum is filled with to much negativity and sometimes has insults ringing in as well... >_>

but the video is from gt5 not gt6 in that part

Excatly. It is the GT5 part without a doubt.

I'm not sure why some people can't grasp the fact that people are entitled to be disappointed and post that disappointment on the forum.

The general idea of PS2 cars in GT6 is a negative, I don't see how you can deny that and therefore wonder why people are going to be disappointed by it.

Did they explicitly point out that the portion was from GT5?? Puzzled

Well at the start on the side of the X1 it showed GT5 on it, plus why will PD show GT6 early before the "NEXT" text shows up, which is GT6? :\

@SimonK *Sigh* I know that post is directed at me.

The Eurogamer video clearly showed GT6 Silverstone demo footage. Why would they splice GT5 footage w/ GT6 footage and then proceed to call it "Gran Turismo 6 Concept video"?

I don't know ask PD that. But it's no doubt GT5 (that was shown to be whatever PD did with it) first, than on to showing off GT6 next.

Of course it is because you seemingly continue to be surprised and annoyed that people are unhappy with this news. Like I said before if it doesn't bother you then fine, that is your opinion but please accept and acknowledge it does bother other people and as much as you are free to post that you don't mind they are entitled to post they do mind.

Will it change anything? Probably not but neither will 95% of things posted in this forum, doesn't mean we should stop discussing it though, this is the whole point of a discussion forum.

The video portion in question here came from Eurogamer (see link). At the 2:18 mark. You have no reasonable explanation as to why it is GT5 or not. Once again, there was 2 minutes of GT6 footage before the sped-up bit. With 40 seconds of GT6 footage following that.

Splicing GT5 footage in the middle and then calling the video "Gran Turismo 6 Concept video" means that SCE/PD meant to mislead viewers. That alone will land them into hot water. Do you really think that SCE/PD are dumb enough to try and pull something like this?

Understood. :guilty:

Ohh now I see what you're talking about. Yes that one was just added in there from the GT6 concept vid, where it showed GT5 first than GT6. Its still GT5 though, Eurogamer just threw it in there for who knows what reason... Theres your explanation...

Take a minute and reflect over whose fault it really is. There's no smoke without fire.

Oh gee I wonder who. Certainly ain't me if that's who you mean. :sly:

Eurogamer did not. Heres the short version on the official PlayStation YouTube channel. 0:36

Both the long and short versions came from SCE/PD. Anyways, things are still incredibly vague and its way too early to judge.

Parts of it are GT5 definitely as a I spotted a Pescarlo C60 which was on Tokyo R246 and the Sky was and tracks look identical to the rendering on GT5. 0:37

I'm telling you its GT5. The vid showed the old GTs and GT5 on the X1, than GT5 being sped up than GT6 after the "NEXT" text...

Eurogamer got their video (long version) from PD. So this means that the videos are contradicting one another, or that Eurogamer wants to screw with people-which will land them into hot water.

Having established that standards have more than a good chance returning, I beg to ask: what can PD do to increase "base level detail" among standards? will adaptive tessellation do a thing?

They can't just 'turn on' tesselation and have the standard cars look better. They need a higher poly count model to work from. Tesselation cannot accurately add poly's to a mesh and have it still be accurate. Making everything automatically more round is definitely not the answer for a model of a car, it would be too inaccurate.

They need to re-interpret the models themselves. Looking at a curve and adding more nodes, while keeping angles as angles where needed. The main place they need to add detail is where textures have been used in place of polygons. The trims around the windows, head/fog/tail lights, vents (like the Countach 25th anniv.), wheel arches etc.

So yes, they need to rework the existing model. I can see why they didn't want to do this with GT5 as it would be nowhere near as accurate as the process of making a premium. However, it would be quite easy to triple the poly count just by adding nodes where they are obviously needed. The rest in the form of replacing flat textures with poly's and re-texturing other areas is a little more painstaking, but would make a huge difference - in most cases much more than the act of simply adding more poly's to those blocky curves.

I have years ago used a software rendering tool that was capable if increasing poly counts in areas designated as 'round', at the time this increased what were 800 poly space ship models for use in a space sim to circa 1200 with few ill effects but that was about the limit before the software took too many guesses at where it should be up-triangling. This was around a decade ago, a studio the quality of PD with todays powerful equipment and tools should be able to increase the poly's of a standard car which if memory serves are around 6000 poly's upto 20% quite easily. The hassle would be selecting each one and the areas to improve and texture placement.

If you take the original 800 standards and upgrade the worst 100 of which some were very very bad and convert another 100 too premium quality then the game will look much more consistent.

We just can't be sure yet. What if some GT6 cars will be the same as in GT5?
6 long months of speculations! Damn!

i think the standart cars in GT6 won't be a big problem. since the quality of the cars will be alot better now. although we've now the possibility to use them in photo-mode and use the custom parts like wheels and spoilers.
all that will make the gameplay with them alot better

You'd also think a studio like PD would have done it in for GT5 but they didn't.

People should really wait for some footage and more info before being so sure about the "improvements".
