Standard cars ARE in GT6. (100% confirmed)

I'm remaining cautious about the "updated" Standards. Not only did Yamauchi imply only some will be improved, but even the official website uses flowery copy for GT5:

Even if there will be standard cars in GT6. It still says in the link provided in the thread that most of them will be better ones, so a mix between standard and premium.

Im taking that with a grain a salt. No one knows exactly how many qualified for an visual upgrade, they could have only done a handful.

I'd rather not get my hopes up so I can hopefully get pleasantly surprised if I'm wrong.

Did they show off a premium Supra because i must have missed it?! Oh that's right they didn't, and until they do my statement holds true.

Your statement holds no truth whatsoever, as you do not work for PD and have absolutely no clue on what cars they did and didn't make premium.

For the life of me, I'll never be able to understand this argument. I just want to hit a wall very hard every time I read it.

I think that one first showed up years ago has a fanboy defense argument for why the AI never seems to improve.

It gets used for a number of things now, and oddly enough, not always by people I would say fit the fanboy camp per say, but yeah, kinda wierd to argue that a racing game isn't about racing. :odd:

Oh no. I'm one of those guys who like having a living encyclopedia of cars, especially when they come in a game with fairly detailed physics. I like running up the family tree sometimes, and see how Audi or BMW progressed through history.

Well, OK, perhaps I didn't get across what I meant correctly.

I don't have a problem with the game being an encyclopedia (in fact that's one of the things I like too), my problem is having just standalone cars from a particular make from 10 years ago.

For example, we all know how in-depth and thorough (although still not all-encompassing) the Skyline lineup in GT games is, I'd like this for the aforementioned Audis and BMWs and whatnot, rather than just X amount of old classics, X amount of new cars, and then X amount of middle-aged ones in the middle that were new for GT4, but now don't really fit properly. I'd prefer the timeline to be complete rather than segmented.

I did read somewhere on here, someone suggested that the game be laid out that you go to, say, Audi, from there you can choose the model, then the year, then the engine size. That'd be a perfect way to do it I think.

But I digress, anything of that sort would be way way way down the line, and not really worth discussing now.

What it probably boils down to is, that you can put rims and spoilers to them.

I don't think so. If you go and watch the video of the whole conference, there is a large emphasis on the fact that ALL (or nearly all, of course there will be some, much like in GT5 which just wouldn't have extra parts for, eg. Tank Car) will be fully modifiable.

Well since the standard cars are going to be in GT6, I'm curious on what they look like now since Kaz said that PD was going to improve the standard models.

If I'm proven wrong, awesome, but for now, I'm really not expecting much. Certainly not Standard exteriors that are even close to on par with Premiums, which is (alarmingly) the conclusion a lot of people are coming to already, simply because PD is removing the categorization.

Whoever thinks standard cars will have cockpits similar to premiums are definitely kidding themselves. Kaz even bluntly says in the interview that not all standards will have cockpits. However I'm cautiously optimistic about the exterior models. Seeing as though you're now able to take them into photo travel and won't have any customizable limitations(so they say) compared to GT5. Let's hope this is indeed true.

@Griffith, which video was this?

Oh ok thanks Oink đź‘Ť

Edit: After downloading the high-res I did not see any standards being shown in the actual GT6 footage.

Kaz mentioned the ability for Standard cars to be included in Photo Mode. I think this alone gives us a good idea on how much they have been improved. Kaz isn't going to spotlight something like this or allow the player to enter Photo Mode with them if they're not exceptional... I hope:nervous:

Or, it could probably mean that we will be able to add front splitters on street cars too and possibly side skirts.

Yep, cause in GT5 we could already put spoilers and custom wheels. No point in saying the restriction is off when it's something that was never restricted.
