i think the standart cars in GT6 won't be a big problem. since the quality of the cars will be alot better now. although we've now the possibility to use them in photo-mode and use the custom parts like wheels and spoilers.
all that will make the gameplay with them alot better

No matter how good they look, they still don't come with an interior view. That happens to be the only view that gives me a feeling of driving a car. I guess that's the main point of playing GT.

I never really cared about standard cars. I think they looked fine in GT3, GT4 and GT5 and I'll bet they look even better in GT6. The only thing I would like improved is a separate new car dealer for standard cars, alongside a used car dealer with standard cars and premium cars together.

Yeah, because GT1-4 had an interior view which gave you the feeling of driving a car. Oh wait... :dunce:

To those who are ok with Standards - this is the problem. I know that only 4 or 5 people have said so, but being ok with Standards may give PD the impression that we don't mind them, and I fear that this could lessen PD's reason to upgrade them.

This is actually the way it works on forums that are tightly knit with the developers of said games (most likely paid to promote the game in a favorable light). It's the same way with Capcom and the Capcops over on SRK forums.
Add the official Forza forum to that one also, bunch of nazi's over there those mods! 👎

For me, it's a shame to hear that standard cars will be returning in Gran Turismo 6. It's of my opinion that this is frankly unacceptable in a game that's essentially being released at the end of this generation of consoles. There's nothing wrong with wanting to bring back material from previous games, however, you cannot set such a high quality standard for your game and then fail to bring the whole product to that level. For a developer focused on achieving the best results possible, I think they should apply a "Do or do not. No trying" philosophy, meaning they either do it properly or don't do it entirely.

Having said that I will wait to see what kind of improvement those old models have gone through. Maybe I will be surprised. I will not be holding my breath though.

We just can't be sure yet. What if some GT6 cars will be the same as in GT5?
6 long months of speculations! Damn!

Yeah but the Sky and track rendering look the same when supposedly there is a new game engine and the photo of the academy GTR show that there is great differences between GT6 and GT5. In the frame with the C60 I cannot see any difference between that and GT5 which kind of defeats the point of GT6 if it looks the same.

Eurogamer did not. Heres the short version on the official PlayStation YouTube channel.

Both the long and short versions came from SCE/PD. Anyways, things are still incredibly vague and its way too early to judge.

As TokoTurismo said, those sped up bits of gameplay all come before the "NEXT UP" screen, which to me is a pretty big indication of the fact that anything before that, is a look-back at what was done in GT5. Remember, not only is it a GT6 trailer, its also part of the 15th Anniversary event, which celebrates GT on the whole, not just GT6.

This is a completely pointless and stupid argument and is nothing to do with standard cars being in GT6 so go to one of the 15th anniversary threads and argue your sad and idiotic argument there rather than taking up space on this thread.
I thought at first you were discussing what if it what standard cars would be in GT6 which would have been relevant to the topic but you are now arguing over whether a bit of video that is 5 seconds long has bits of GT6 or GT5 in it. Who cares? Obviously you do but the majority of the people on the forums really don't give a damn.

Parts of it are GT5 definitely as a I spotted a Pescarlo C60 which was on Tokyo R246 and the Sky was and tracks look identical to the rendering on GT5. 0:37

I think it's GT6, the difference is in lightning. There also stunning LeMans at night - I didn't remember it looked like this in GT5. I'm sure it's all GT6. However I didn't played GT5 for year. Need re-watch the trailer :)

You clearly didn't read the whole conversation, so take a step back fella. This originated because someone was suggesting that the cars shown in that portion of the video were GT6 "standards" and the counter-argument was that it was GT5 footage, not GT6. So in fact it is perfectly relevant to this thread.

Moreover in those sped up bits of gameplay there isn't any new car, is clearly GT5

Im not bothered about standards i just dont want a rubbish ucd, i want them all in one dealership so i can get a e46 when i want... unless its premium now

So it turned into a pointless argument which is what I said!

I'm probably wrong about this, but I'll talk about it anyway. I've heard from a few people that designing a 3d model of a car exterior takes less time than designing the interior of a car for a current-gen driving game. So is it possible that PD is redesigning a lot of their standard cars to look closer to premiums? It might take less time since Kaz said that they won't have interiors.

Your not a member of staff so please do not take it upon yourself to determine what gets posted in a thread, if you believe posts are off-topic then use the report button. The staff will then take a look, and if they agree take action.

In addition do not ever address another member in this manner again, abusive attacks are simply not permitted here at GT Planet and should you post in this manner again the staff will be taking action against you.

In what way am I abusing another member may I ask?

There argument is stupid, sad and idiotic; those were the words you used. If you don't see that as being abusive then I imagine GT Planet is not the place for you.

Take note, this is not a debate on the subject, its an instruction.

People should really wait for some footage and more info before being so sure about the "improvements".

you're right with that. if we see a quality like the Bugatti Veyron ( which was one of the best standarts in GT5 ), or even better it would be quite ok.
I don't think we'll see something like the Nomand Diablo again, this car was really crappy ( but good to drive ).

No matter how good they look, they still don't come with an interior view. That happens to be the only view that gives me a feeling of driving a car. I guess that's the main point of playing GT.

i don't drive with interior view because to me it's a bit unrealistic and more difficult to drive. if you drive in a real car your viewfield is much bigger than you've with the interior view in GT5.

Excuse me, but do not post as if your opinion represents the entire GTPlanet community and better yet the entire Gran Turismo fan base.

Additionally and above all else, do not speak for ME! I did not mind the Standards in GT5 and I will enjoy them even more now that the Standards are not "restricted".

You may wish to re-read that and temper your aggression.

That post in no way speaks for you (or anyone), it simply states that PD may assume that everyone is OK with the standards as they are now.

@all - The level of aggression and personal digs and attacks in this thread is not acceptable, the next person to forget that you play the argument not the person will be getting a 48 hour time out.

Very well then.

I'm remaining optimistic about PD's approach to the standards. One thing I hope they do is ditch the used car dealer, and just have a dealer that sells all premiums and standards.

However, typing this out, i will miss going to the ucd to see what new cars have arrived and snatching the rare ones. Maybe we can have both, with used cars being considerably cheaper then ones at the dealership.

I was very suprised to hear that standard cars would be making a reappearance for GT6. I assumed in light of all the negative attention standards received from one corner of the fanbase that PD would ditch them altogether.

I had told myself that there will be no standard cars, but a figure of 350+ premium cars would satisfy me. Personally I am happy to have the standards again but only if they have some sort of cockpit view (blacked out will suffice).

I'm all for immersion and so after using GT5's cockpit view there's no going back to bumper view. I'm more then happy to sacrifice tenths of seconds by not seeing the apex of turns as clearly for the realistic cockpit driving position.

So if they do away with the cockpit silhouettes on the standard cars I will not drive them (as much as I adore a lot of the standards), this for me is a legitimate reason for not driving the standards. So please PD keep the blacked out cockpits!

One thing that concerns me is that in the future cars like 2CV, Midget, Cappuccino, Copen, 500, Panda, Beat, Cube etc will not exist as most people will put pressure on PD to model supercars and racecars. For me GT's charm is having these lower powered and small, fun (to me) cars.

In my opinion I think we will see better than the black out interior views. 👍

Standard cars are in GT6. They will be improved. Some will have interiors. Some won't. They will be fully customisable. That is all you need to know about standard cars in GT6 in one small paragraph so why can't the rest of you manage to keep your posts relatively small?

I was expecting there would be less overall cars and specifically less or even no standard cars. Not that I thought there would be that many receiving the full scan / premium upgrade but I was hoping some of the unnecessary model / country variations of Skylines, RX-7s, MX-5s, S2000s and such would have been removed.

As soon as I saw the "1200 cars" announcement I knew for sure there would be something equivalent to "standard" cars but I am glad at by virtue of the new graphics engine they at least sound like they're getting a small upgrade in quality. Hopefully that will also mean the cockpit view gets a little meatier, I'm fine with the silhouette view again but I'd at least like to see some of the angle appropriate exterior body parts when inside standard cars (rear wing, hood, etc) to give them a little more depth.

I can't wait to see what standards look like in GT6 and will be happy so long as they look better on the outside than GT5. I don't care about them adding inside details.

That's what I look forward to as well. :D That is all I want from PD along with customising them. 👍
