Standard cars ARE in GT6. (100% confirmed)

I'm sure I wouldn't. When driving in real life, our brains fill in the gaps, blocking out information which isn't crucial at all times, and allowing us to instead focus on the road ahead. We only see the gauges and such when we shift focus downward.

The cockpit view, while technically simulates what a camera would 'see' when positioned where a persons head is, doesn't really simulate the driving experience as well as the view which shows nothing but windshield and hood.

The inability to key in on the rearview mirrors in cockpit isn't true to life and the inability to shift your line of sight around the a pillars isn't true to life.

I'm sure what I'm saying is over your head.
I guarantee I have more real life road track racing time so clearly nothing you will say is over my head. Unless you sit on the hood of your car or sit on the bumper, there is NO excuse not to have an interior view in a simulation racing game. Period.

Sure. You even said yourself that you have to "look down" to view the gauges. You clearly aren't consciously aware of what's going on inside your head while you're driving, or as you claim "racing", which I find astounding. But, whatever.

I'm with Ills on this one. I've never been happy with any interior view, except possibly Toca 3's, dare I say it, black outlines. Most games make it seem like you're driving either from the back seat or reclining way back Lambo style. If I could adjust the driver views like I've been harping on the past few years, I might like interior view in Gran Turismo a lot more.

I used nothing but bumper view for the longest time and viewed cockpit view as nothing more than a novelty. Then watched some iRacing and Projectcars videos in cockpit cam. Got a little jealous of that immersion possibility. Loved the interior detailing so tried it out in GT5. Was pleasantly surprised in comparison.

I didn't realize how tired I was of driving like I was hovering over the road. Every car was the exact same view, yawn. I understand the perception of bumper view's clean screen, regarding the eye's focus in relation to realism. I just got bored of the generic screen view. It's way more immersive to me. My TV screen is large enough where plenty of the road is visible, if the screen was smaller no doubt I'd stick with bumper.

Hopefully the cockpit cam will have better adjustments in 6. Other games have a more dynamic cockpit cam with simulated g forces. As long as it's done well, I'm all for that.

So, I get that, for you, the cockpit view adds to the enjoyment of the game. However, I don't see you going around petitioning PD to get rid of the bulk of their cars because the cockpit view is lacking.

This is what I take issue with the diatribes against standards. The entire justification for getting rid of them, realism, is flawed.

I'd hate to see hundreds of cars fall by the wayside because some elitists insist that ALL cars must be 'cockpit worthy'.

Well, it's been a while since anyone has been in this thread and there's actually a few standard cars that I'm surprised that PD didn't include even in GT5 and kinda disappointed that they're not in GT5.

1. Esso Ultraflo Supra from GT Concept and GT4 (Jpn Ver.)

I know it's because PD had an issue with Esso, but couldn't they just simply make an Exxon Version of this Supra.

2. 1999 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra

It actually was nearly in both GT3 and GT Concept and I don't see why PD abandoned it, they could've finished modeling the wheels and that could've been a better use of their 1000 car goal than a stupid duplicate.

3. Toyota Pod (GT Concept)

4. Hyundai Click Type-R

You know what would be really funny? What if PD took a couple of GT1 grade cars and stuck them in GT6...just for laughs...with up to date physics and everything but GT1 appearance!!

It would be a fun laugh for me, but some people might be annoyed with it.

If there was some kind of cheat/secret menu from completing the game where they would have gt1 versions of cars/tracks that would be so fun

Considering the "having a car included is better than not having at all", this is the next step going by their reasoning.

On the bright side: nobody could complain about a lack of RM's anymore.

What's the point? The 2000 version is in GT5.

I have never seen this car before in GT4... so this was only in the Korean version?! I WANT IT.

Different body parts on the outside and a few more color options. The performance is different as well and I personally would like to drive the normal SVT Cobra over the Cobra R since it doesn't have that big spoiler on the back.

It's an exclusive car for the Korean Version of Gran Turismo 4.

Polyphony should keep kept the 'upscaled GT4 models' out of GT5 originally! I hope they'll be consistant with the 'premium'!

There's people out there that want to drive x or y car and don't care about the quality. That's why they cant take them out.

The 2000 SVT Cobra R is a different car from the 1999 SVT Cobra. Far more so than most of the variations of cars already in the game are.

Ohhhhhh, I didn't see the R after the Cobra was different. I guess it might be interesting to see the difference.

To be honest, they kinda are already in my opinion. The inclusion of standard cars in the first place is perhaps THE worst decision by any game developer ever. I'm serious.

Completely agree. Straight porting assets from thirteen year old hardware is just one of those things you shouldn't do. There's a reason why other developers don't. Hopefully they'll change their mentality for the next generation.

There's also a reason why other developers don't sell 10 Million copies per title and 70 Million overall. There's a bigger picture here you can't see with your microscope.

And there's a picture you're not seeing either. Do you honestly think GT5 would have sold as much as it did if the franchise didn't have nearly 15 years of brand recognition and acclaim? Considering GT5 was critically the worst performing game in the series, I doubt it.

Point being, the marketplace determines what works and what doesn't for developers. I don't care what critics said about GT5 nor do I care about what they say about GT6. I care about what it's like when I turn on the PS3, jump into the racing cockpit and drive, and from that standpoint, GT5 was pretty cool for me and for the population of many smaller countries. Not without it's flaws, but it occupied 3+ years of my gaming time and that's quite a bang for the buck. Sure, I'd rather have everything premium, but on the other hand I don't want to lose the Rufs, the Countach's and many other cars. Resources are always limited and going back and making cars premium has to be offset with the fact that it probably means one less new car will be added to the game. Take your pick, nothing is free.

The battle rages on, lol. Now we have Goodwood Hill Climb and it's track, now imagine all those standard old race cars gone, Goodwood would have been a knife to the heart. Classic festival of speed and not a single old car to take the point to point challenge. I never understand how people can be so unreasonable, the standards are in deal with it or not your choice but to go on for 50+ pages griping is ridiculous and amusing but mostly ridiculous.
So what if you have to use a standard or two to complete the game, I doubt it will kill your enjoyment or you. If it breaks your immersion then you need help since there are a great many other things that already do that already in every video game simulator...hint has something to do with not actually being in a car driving doing those things. :D.

I never understand how people can be so unreasonable

Me neither.

the standards are in deal with it or not your choice

Or maybe I can discuss it, thanks.

but to go on for 50+ pages griping is ridiculous and amusing but mostly ridiculous.

A 50 page discussion, the horror. Maybe it's you that should deal with it.

Let me worry about what kills my immersion, thanks.

Neither side will budge, at this point the thread does seem pointless, I can see where you're coming from.

Yeah, I mean fifty pages of bickering back and forth, and we've exhausted just about every argument for and against standards! Thanks for joining in the discussion and being levelheaded instead of adding more fuel to the fir-

Wait...what?

You obviously don't have any idea as to where Goodwood is, what it is and what they do there.

Uh, no. What I was getting at in my post was that he came in here, complained about how ridiculous the arguing has become, and then proceeded to argue. That's what I was referring to.
