Agreed. My main point with the issue of the presence of standard cars is, imagine they aren't in the game whatsoever. 230 (or whatever the exact number is) premium, fully modeled interior/exterior etc. cars, is a pretty good amount. So if the game just shipped with that number, it's more than alot of other driving games come out with around this time anyway. So just consider the standards as an added bonus, they're there if you want them.
.

Yes you are right but Kaz also stated that the standards are upgraded to be able to work on photo mode so I'm pretty sure they look a lot better now .

For me it doesn't matter we are getting 1200 cars take it or leave it , simple .

Developing for the PS4 has absolutely nothing to do with how many cars they can build.

I know, I was just saying don't expect GT7 to have more cars than GT6 because I doubt they will premiumize all 800+ standard cars. Especially if it's going to be with the crazy level of detail they intend to make them with on the PS4.

That's assuming the level of detail is crazy. I would hope so! But, it seems possible that they could make them similar or just a bit better than gt5 premiums. I do hope that the detail level is really on another level though.

Yeah, it's not something blatantly they said they're going to do but I assume that's going to be the case.

Tracks are not part of GTPSP compatibility, so there you go.

I'm saying that if you're going to add old gen cars to increase numbers and not miss out on great cars, how does that differ from adding old gen tracks?

And sacrificing graphical consistency of your number one exclusive because you would like the option for users to transfer their cars from the already dated handheld version is frankly daft.

What happens if they remove all the standard cars?

Simple, I don't buy the game. At any price. Clear enough?

Qoutes on standards ...
"THE worst decision"
"They would be a laughing stock"
"PD won't go backward"
"Laziest publisher"

No, Never, Don't think so, pure B.S.

Here how it is ...
"So just consider the standards as an added bonus"
~400 vs. 1200, i'll take 1200.

They already said there won't be "standards", at least none of the low quality models we saw before. Just because they said some will not have a rendered cockpit does not mean that there will be the same quality standards in GT6.

I don't know why people keep saying think of standards as a bonus, because they aren't.

It's just a way of justifying them. As I said before, if you consider 250 odd cars a decent number for a driving game to release with, then you can consider all the other standards simply as an added bonus to those cars.

The problem is that this "added bonus" is often so out of place that makes the entire game look downright bad. I'd rather have an option that restricts the ai from ever using them.

I'm pretty sure PD never originally intended to include 'standards' at all in GT5 but it was a push from Sony that saw them added in and now that the precedence has been set it seems they're here to stay (for this generation console at least). To carry them over onto a PS4 GT game would be near suicide however.

Complete conjecture.

What would the reasoning be for them not being a bonus? It's all about how you look at it.

First, anything initially included on the disc is not a bonus. Standard cars were never advertised as such. It's not like GT6 is going to ask you when you first put it in if you want to install standard cars in the game or not. Stuff like DLC, which you have the option to add to your game, is a bonus. I can say anything outside of driving cars on a track is a bonus, since that's what GT is supposedly all about. Should I be super hyped and excited that PD took the time to include all of these "bonus" features like online and customization? You can perceive the standard cars anyway you want, but the fact is, they are a permanent part of the game, so I find it tough to view them as bonuses. I've also seen so many people say "Standard cars are a bonus." before GT5 came out, yet you need to use them if you want to complete the game 100%. Yeah, doesn't really sound like a bonus anymore.

I do empathise with the issue that in some places in-game, you do need to use standards, and I agree that intrinsically they are part of the game and not actually a "bonus" added to the game. That's not what we are trying to say, just that its a way of looking at them, to justify their existence in our own minds. In monologue terms, like this:

"I would be happy for the game to have 250 cars"
"Oh, and there's 750 more that shouldn't really be here in this state, but they are anyway, if I really want to use them"

I won't say anymore on it anyhow, just consider it a personal way for justifying them, if you don't see it that way, then no problem, and I can still understand why they have their issues.

I agree with this, actually. They added Trial Mountain and Deep Forest basically untouched from GT4. Why didn't they add all the other tracks too?

It was a bizarre decision. They chose to use PS2 track assets, but not all of them. And frankly, stuff like El Capitan looks a lot better than Trial Mountain does.

They would've brought in Trial Mountain and Deep forest because they are true classic tracks. Also, tracks like El Capitan use effects that wouldn't translate so well to PS3 or HD in general (the cliff backdrop). Eiger has a similar thing, but surely it would have to be heavily redone/re-tweaked to look good in GT5. Many other new to GT4 tracks would have similar issues IMO. Of course, I really wish they did take the time to properly upscale most of the fictitious tracks. Adding polygons to the actual track surface would be the easy part, doing new textures and backdrops would take most of the time.

I know someone may has mentioned, but GT6 should at least has this type of cockpit for standard cars!!!!

I'm happy we have a game to play. If we each had the resources and could make a game the way each of us wanted, it would be done. It's cool to wish and discuss what each of us want in the GT series. I'm at the point of just being thankful I can race a car at any time I want(even if I'm paying $65AUD+ for 16bit graphics). If I didn't want it, I wouldn't HAVE bought it.

How are you going to call GT a simulator if we have standards. I can understand they can't do everything right away. But come on people, pitch black cockpits do not belong in a sim, they are barely simulating, Forza has done way!! Better.

For ex, if you look inside the 2J and toyota 7 cockpit, it looks like throw up and random crap mixed together. And also Pescarolo C60 race car cockpit looks like paint spill everywhere.

That's all I see in my real 'cockpit' when I'm driving down the road, the hood. I see right through that a-pillar. Why you guys insist on having cockpit view on, is beyond me.

You wouldn't like iracing then.

So you have never looked at the gauges in your car, the dash, the radio, gas gauge, or you have never looked around? Anyone that claims that is 100% lying. Pathetic attempt to justify not having interior views in a simulation racing game. Just pathetic.

I'm sure I wouldn't. When driving in real life, our brains fill in the gaps, blocking out information which isn't crucial at all times, and allowing us to instead focus on the road ahead. We only see the gauges and such when we shift focus downward.

The cockpit view, while technically simulates what a camera would 'see' when positioned where a persons head is, doesn't really simulate the driving experience as well as the view which shows nothing but windshield and hood.

The inability to key in on the rearview mirrors in cockpit isn't true to life and the inability to shift your line of sight around the a pillars isn't true to life.

If you're picking up the gauges and wheel and a pillar while you're driving in real life, your focal point is WAY to close to your eyes and you're likely target fixating.

So you have never looked at the gauges in your car, the dash, the radio, and you have never looked around? Anyone that claims that is lying.

I'm sure what I'm saying is over your head.
