Wow! even the buildings have interior! i have never noticed that! No racing games i have played had buildings with interior! (except Test Drive Unlimited, some buildings like dealerships and houses does have visible interior when outside.)

Fixed.
That is really good looking for a standard! That is by far the best standard I have seen. 👍

I still think the Audi Autounion Streamline is the worst. :yuck:
Heh, I thought it was "you're"...

The Auto Union TypeC was notorious for its handling in its time. Trust me, that alone more than makes up for its appearance. ;)

It was, although it was fixed later on.

Well don't get me wrong, I like the cars appearance a lot, as a matter of fact it is one of my favorites. However the quality of the car model itself is why I think it is the worst standard in GT6. It looks (not saying it is) like it was ported directly from GT4 without any kind of enhancements at all.

Ah, but it was ported directly at first, only the "material" used to render the bodywork in GT4 was not originally reproduced in GT6. In fact, the visual appearance of the car in GT6 at launch was probably correctly a "bug", before it was modified into its current state via a patch, but it's still not the same (as good) as it was in GT4.

The rest of the texture work is indeed lo-fi, and the "cockpit" was only ever meant to be seen from the outside. But if they'd spent loads of time messing with Standards, they'd not have made as many Premiums. ;)

May you please reserve a brief moment of your time to look at this beauty:

It is a shame that it's yet to be Premium.
This is what you call a "semi premium" car. It has a premium exterior, but a standard interior. If this car is made premium for a future GT game, the exterior will probably not be touched, but it will get an interior. The quality of this car's exterior is just as good as any other premium car in GT6.

Wow, not surprised about the first part, but I didn't know it had been modified via patch. Guess that's what I get for not playing GT6 for a while.

I was about to say, I think it looks worse than it did in GT4. I don't remember it's being so dull in GT4 ether, but maybe it is the lighting playing tricks with me.

Indeed. They look REALLY bad in the game even for a standard.

I don't go around buying standards and expecting them to be in really good quality, but I really feel like they could have done better with that Streamline. May try to get some pictures of it soon.

The steering wheel appeared to have been re-modeled to a higher detail at the same time, as well.
Here's the pre- / post- patch comparison (from this very thread), and below that a single shot from GT4:

To my eyes, the shading in GT4 is more evocative of bare metal than in GT6, which looks painted.

Gosh I cannot believe how much better it looks in the later patch than it did before. In the first shot, it looks like one of those cars you would see out in the background on a track, but the other one looks much more up to date. Seems like I remember the steering wheel didn't move at one point, but I imagine if it was remodeled, they fixed it by now.

Thanks for sharing! 👍

Even in GT4 though the wheel arches were shocking. The dealer actually says it has a "detailed" interior. I suppose technically it's a premium. (If you assume "Standard" and "Premium" in GT5 were renamed "Interior: Simplified" and "Interior: Detailed")

Do you mean the wheel covers? They're a bit angular in real life, but we shouldn't expect high quality textures from GT4.
If you mean the "bumps" the wheels reside in, then polygon count comes to the fore.

I think we can infer that Interior: Detailed / Simplified is really a different kind of designation from Standard / Premium. It's the future, I'd wager, in so much as all cars will eventually have detailed exteriors.

As you have very good knowledge in that modeling stuff, what do you think will they do with the standard cars regarding interiors?

I personally think the standards (wich will all be upgraded to semi premium level) will have an interior like the vgts have, black inside but with the outside visible.

It seems likely that the bulk of the Standard "conversions" will not get a modeled interior. Whether they create those with the ability to see itself from within itself depends on how that actually works in their graphics engine. Clearly, there was a difficulty with getting GTPSP-style interior views working on the Standards in GT5 / GT6, for whatever reason.

Since many of the "upgraded" Standards don't have that self-visibility property from the interior, it's possible that they won't ever. If it's a case of requiring a separate LoD setting (e.g. "interior"), then they can add that procedurally, parsing through all the meshes one by one (once they're finished).

Premium exterior? Not at all .

This is a premium exterior , now look back at that car and see if it even comes close to this.

It does? OK. All I know is that the Premiumification of that car either wasn't started or wasn't ready to be included when GT6 released.

Of course, GT7 is a long way off yet.

I was just being dramatic mate , of course there's a possibility to get any car premiumized in GT7.

My guess that the standard cars doesnt have an interior view like the vgt cars is because the standard models are to low res for PD to be shown from such near distance and because they had to remodel the outside of the cars too due to possible incompatibiltys between the black cockpit model and the original standard outside model.

Didnt gtpsp just put you inside the original car models instead of a newly created cockpit model? Due to the small screen size you dont notice all the pixels and jaggies which would look horrible on a tv!
