One of the coolest cars Nissan ever made. Justice has been done for this beauty.

I bought an NB Roadster 1.8 RS in hopes of making a 2016 ND replica. I was adding wheels and then went to paint. The car looked look like it came straight out of FF7. I sold it. I thought I could accept the Standard cars in the next title. I just can't any longer.

I wanna ask a question:

On the roof of the Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II, two (or four) driver names were written on each side. Question is, who are they?

Does anyone know if some of these standard cars were directly extracted from PS2 Gran Turismo, or were they all built from scratch and uncompleted.

I was never against standards but maybe they should be gone? While for some people who loved GT4 like me or GT3 those cars have sentimental value then other people would not treat the game seriously. Altrough I would accept it only if they make cars like all Imprezas (maybe not the ones that look almost exactly the same), Supra, all Lancer EVOs and all other important cars premium. And if Kaz wants to sell more GT7s then he should think about putting some more european cars, newer and older. There are so many premiums and it seems like there are less cars than there actually is for some reason. And they should be unlocked from the beginning but thats another subject. Also, instead of VGTs they should add real cars in my opinion.

Looking at them, it appears they actually are straight from GT PSP (where the PS2 models are downgraded). For instance, the GT3/4 Mercedes CLK Touring Car is actually better detailed then the model in GT5. Same goes for the Nissan R390 GT1.

I'd like to see some side-by-side comparisons.

First, you use photo mode picture from GT4 where car's have more polygons than in replay mode... Second standard car's in GT5 and not updated standard car's in GT6 looked better in GT4 because GT4 car's were made in 640x480 resolution for PS2 and than they are stretched in 1920x1080 resolution on PS3 and than simple lose quality... Try some low quality video to play on SD TV and than full HD resolution TV and you will see difference.

I was exactly reffering to the quality of the standards in GT5. All the photos I could find of GT4 are from Photo mode so I didn't really have much choice. I was gonna try an find a picture from PSP to compare but I can't seem seem to find any of those.

Besides even in gameplay, The cars look far better in GT4 then they do on GT5 because they weren't downgraded. The PSP is basically a smaller, lower quality PS2 in terms of graphics.

GT5 uses Photo Travel models of Standard cars in races, except for the ones that were changed to lower quality ones like the CLK he posted or the ones that constantly suffered from the on-again off-again rendering glitches (like the Legacy 2.0 Spec B and the infamous Alto Works).

That's the opposite of how it works. A lower screen resolution masks quality (and deficiencies). It's also not really relevant because the CLK-DTM is rather obviously a different car from an asset perspective anyway (at least in terms of textures, as the mesh seems to be the same) than the one in GT4.
