4 D A A, 5 S. If you haven't started the CC yet, 5 5 box SCV B C, 1 1 to be back at army. Should just take a few seconds.

You people and your crazy hotkeys.

Anyway, I was all pumped last night to go my season 6 placement, as I have been playing gold level players mostly the last 2 weeks and winning maybe around 70%-80%. Get my placement. Smash some jerk in a TvZ. He's ranked Gold. I get placed into Silver! Love it. It's more frustrating cause I'm ranked Plat on NA, so I know I'm better than Silver league...though I didn't mind too much. Till the next 4 games I played were all against Gold ranked players, and none of them were favoured (And I won them all)...Oh well. At least the map pool is more enjoyable this season. :)

I stopped caring about leagues some time ago. It's really just e-penis stuff. Battle.net should be placing you against people of comparable skill, with the idea of having about a 50% win rate. Maybe you're having trouble with a certain match up, so that could be causing an issue

No, it is just based of the Elo of those Gold players, who are likely performing poorly, and Casio, who is likely performing well. It will eventually promote him a league after his Elo stabilizes from losing matches to higher ranked players. This could take 20 to 40 matches though.

It don't think of it too much, other than when it doesn't make sense. Though I do wish there could be like an 'overall' league ranking as well, or something. It would be easier to compare your ranking vs friends that way. Cause being "Top 8 Silver" really means **** all cause you can't compare leagues/divisions/whatever they're called.

I am having a surprising amount of success in TvP with reactor-hellion plays on macro maps (Shakuras and Antiga mainly). Very good at catching any early sentry-heavy pushes (which are becoming more popular/common because FF'ing bunkers is silly). Also works pretty well for scouting if the toss went mainly zealot/sentry and light on stalkers. Provides a strong transition into a 2base 3-1-1 contain if you want, or you can use the attained map control to get a 3rd up relatively quick-if i nail a few sentries early on, I usually feel pretty safe taking a 3rd because its a heavy gas investment which means there's less chance of a 2base high-tech semi-all-in coming, and the hellions also are pretty good at punishing people who leave their bases undefended.

And it's always nice to have the ability to switch to a 2rax2fac allin with blue flame and stim against both zerg and toss :3

Mass hellions gets mass stalkers and less sentry/zealot, which allows marines to do more damage. And probes don't do so well against either of the two units :>

Being in top 8 gold doesn't feel like much either but at least its an improvement over the last two seasons of being silver.

6 S, 7 S S too for me. 6 being factory and 7 star port.

Slight Rant. Played a TvP on the weekend against a 'High' Plat player (On SEA, thinking I'll get promotion soon). Did a 2 rax openning. He had to cancel his expo and pull a lot of probes to defend it. I did heaps of damage, took an expo, started to get extra rax and fact, etc, etc, good upgrades. Whole game I'm denying his third, while I got mine up and nicely saturated, and started making a 4th, while he's stuck on 2 bases.

During one of my drops I scout a Templar Archives, I start making ghosts. Then he gets storm and A-Moves his 2 base chargelot/Archon Ball and storms my whole army with about 4 HTs and wins. How do you get close to the HTs when you have chargelots wreaking your ****? I know Snipe outranges Storm but it just seems so much harder to do that than it is for HT to spam storm across your army and obliterate it.

What is a good way to deal with HT and these 2 base ball Protosses? Also at what level do you really start to need to be able to use ghosts effectically against HTs? If at all? Am I approaching that level or just suck ass.

My best guess for dealing with chargelot archon is choosing your engagement place (in a narrow area, like against a cliff or among buildings) to reduce the surface area of your army, and good emp's. Don't forget, storm does NOT damage buildings. Also, I would suggest using ghost cloak to emp archons and HT's while your opponent is not concentrating on his army. I have trouble against mass chargelot as terran when playing someone of equal "skill", so you need to play smart

Mass Marauder Medivac actually handles HT play moderately well.

As for getting Ghosts close to HT, cloak is a good option, along with dropping them behind the army or keeping them off to the side.

I also have this feeling you weren't really capitalizing on your economic lead, and that you might have had too many SCVs, though could be not.

I'll post a replay when I get home....

At least I'm improving, if I can fix a few simple things and be beating plats I'll be pretty happy. GSL here I come.

I should actually also post a replay of this hilarious game I had against a Toss. Who scouted my 2 rax. Then proceeded to go stalker, double stargate. Anyway I walked to the natural with 15 units (vs 1 stalker...hmmm) and he quits. Sends me a message after saying

"Wow. You are so cheesy."

I lol'd at the irony.

People are weird. I got beat by a toss one time, who shouted at me that terran was 'SOO IMBA DUDE. MAKE MARAUDERS AND WIN GAME!!!!' and so on and so forth

I wish I was making it up. it's not so bad when you win, but being winning then BM'ing, I was a little confused

I think people take things too seriously. I mean, yeah, sometimes things are frustrating, but I always GG out of games, even if they 6-pool'd me or DT rushed or whatever.

More annoying is when after the game they continue on with "Unit X is OP", "You suck cause of X", "Noob" crap. (Generally this is after they double stargate, umm, rushed)

But I find the most annoying is when you GG out of a game, then 30 seconds to a minute later, that guy PMs you a GG and starts giving you advice on what you did wrong. I once had a guy who built a proxy dark shine, DT'd me when I had no scans, then after the game starts telling me "I had a DT in your base and waited till you put down a Mule so you wouldn't have scans, just so you know you should also check (X Location) for proxy pylons, but GG anyway :D".

Cool dude.

Edit: Replay added. Wasn't exactly how I remembered it (Turns out it was Stalker not Archon). But now looking back I just realised how low that nexus was at the start. And maybe I should have pushed earlier....

I know it probably doesn't mean anything but with the new EPM out other than just APM. I've noticed that my EPM is much higher than my APM, around 30 more on average. Also, my EPM is usually 20 higher than my teammates or my opponents. Although it doesn't seem like i'm leaps and bounds ahead so. Does EPM really mean anything? They say it's supposed to be just about actual commands and not spam clicking. Which I do alot when i'm moving my army. *shrug*

I think I read somewhere that in the new patch it's ****ed up and EPM is actually APM an vice versa.

Man 1v1 is just not my cup of tea. I play 2v2 and 3v3 mostly and I know Gold and Plat is not really an amazing league but it's decent. But in 1v1... i'm struggling as a rank 40 bronze!

My biggest help in getting out of bronze is using the keyboard shortcuts for macro purposes. if you can remember the keys to help macro well, number of units and a-moving will help you win

Oh i'm familiar with all of that. For some reason I play really lazy in 1v1 which is really stupid. I at least have the luxury of having support in 2v2 or 3v3 but if I get screwed in 1v1 i'm the only one to fix it. The game play is so much slower in 1v1 too.

Speaking of 3v3. Played an amazing 3v3 yesterday with my mate when we were bored. Basically mined the whole map in a back and forth affair.

Replay Here.

I was playing a diamond zerg earlier today as toss and went FFE->7gate +2 weapons blink allin, and the guy let me make a pylon in his main with 4 ovies floating over it and then called me a cheesy SOB when he lost, even though he could've just killed the freaking pylon before it finished ;-;

Small SC update.

Been playing 1v1 more as I want to hit a respectable level on the SEA server. Been playing mostly Golds and Plats, so while I think I may be promoted soon, I've actually put leagues out of my mind for the moment and am just playing to get better and improve.

That said, I have a feeling the SEA server is getting quite tough, with so few players on it now, the active players remaining are all fairly decent...

My TvP and TvZ are decent enough now. However, I still hate and have trouble with TvT. In a standard Macro game I generally win most of them, but 9/10 times this month in TvT I've been cloak banshee'd (Both standard and proxy), and it's terribly annoying. I was 1 Rax expanding into 3/4 rax for a while, as it meant I had double scans and a lot of rines to deal with banshees..but then I just die to a seige push if they did that.

What's a good safe way to open TvT at the moment and progress into the mid game?

When I used to go bio I would do a 1rax expand, and get 3 rax (2 reactors, 1 tech lab)+engy bay. Fast +1 armor or weapons (usually prefer weapons), combat shield, and a good flank holds off most tank pushes, and the engy bay allows you to make turrets to defend against shee's.

You do need to set the flank for tank pushes up beforehand, however-usually I take my first group of marines (8-10) and put them off to the side and wait for the tanks to come and then charge :D

Thanks I'll give this a try 👍

In other news, I just played what feels to me like my most solid and best game ever. Since focusing more I think I've improved a lot in the last 3-4 weeks.

Replay Link TO ME SMASHING SOME ZERRRGGG

In watching the replay I noticed my upgrades weren't as good as they could have been, but all in all I thought I did pretty well.

Smashed a Plat Zerg Today.

Diamond Tomorrow.

Masters Saturday.

I'll be GM by the end of the week.

I was playing Protoss earlier, and doing a Forge fast expand against a zerg, who decided to go hatch first. I always go for an early forge (12, 13 supply). I noticed he had no vision of his expo, so I built a pylon and 2 cannons behind the minerals before the hatch "hatched". It wound up killing the hatch, at which point I built a massive 3 base army and stomped him. Post-game, he messages me that "Silly gold resorts to cheese to win. so sad". I went to reply, but he set me to ignore.

So, freinds, do you consider cannoning a zerg who goes hatch first cheese?

I for one, do not. this tactic does not completely require suprise, and it was only a 400 mineral investment to deny an early expand.
