So ehm... Neema or anyone. DCS Warthog, buy now or wait until the last minute in hope for a sale. What do you (guys) think?

I always wait until the last day, but frankly it's unlikely it'll be featured as most things have already been up more than once, I'd be surprised if we see more than a handful of new deals from now on.

I thought I was going to instantly buy Monaco but upon further research I don't think it'll be much good with randoms and I know my friends won't buy it. Trials Evolution Gold was another I thought I wanted but I don't really want to pay that much for an apparently poor port...

Yeah, I was thinking the same way. Just wanted someone else's opinion on it first. So bought it as I wanted to play it.

I had a few games I wanted. Far Cry 3 was one, but I like to play a quick shooter but those like Far Cry, Battlefield and so on really depend on my mood. So I thought I'd wait till a steam deal later this year for that, or maybe the Christmas sale.

Besides, I will be quite busy already anyways with games I still need to finish from previous deals. Now the Warthog game.
Plus Simraceway just added my home track TT Circuit Assen, which I intend to drive at least a 100 laps on before I think about getting bored.
It's the first game with 4 wheelers that added this circuit I think. So I am quite happy. The only thing that would make me even more happy is if it gets added to pCARS.

Well, this is me the entire sale:

Well, as you bought it, download DCS World and the A-10 module then use your Steam CD key to unlock it. They don't update DCS A-10C any more, I imagine the graphics are better and I suppose the multiplayer is more active as well.

Really?!

When I right-click on the executable of the game and go to details it tells me I have version 1.1.1.1. This version according to online sources is the latest version.
So I honestly have no clue as to why it shouldn't be the 'latest version'. :dunce:

DCS A10C patches: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/patches/
DCS World: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/dcs_world/

DCS World will be interesting for later. First I need to get myself familiar with the aircraft and such. Maybe get a better stick and so on. Thanks for the tips though. 👍

Sorry, what I meant was they don't actively work on DCS A-10C any more so 1.1.1.1 is the last update they released for it, on Steam or otherwise, there may have been a beta .2 patch released a while back too but I'm not sure. Anyway, they're still releasing updates for DCS World and I've seen patch notes for the A-10C module so there are apparently fixes still going on.

Can we all vote Kentucky Route Zero please? Also, get FTL and Terraria. They're pretty great. There's also this list of cheap games that most likely won't get any cheaper:

Under 50p
Time Gentlemen, Please! Ben There, Dan That! – 29 PENCE.
Wizorb – 49p
Puzzle Dimension – 49p

Under 75p
Nightsky – 59p
Super Hexagon: 67p
DLC Quest – 67p
Home – 67p
Toki Tori – 69p
Ghost Master – 74p
The Basement Collection – 74p

Under £1
Bullet Candy – 89p
eXceed – Gun Bullet Children – 99p
English Country Tune – 99p
Samarost 2 – 99p
Abe’s Oddysee – 99p
Abe’s Exodus – 99p

Under £1.50
The Polynomial – £1.12
Noitu Love 2 – £1.19
EYE – £1.24
Shatter – £1.39
Shattered Haven – £1.39
Rock Of Ages – £1.39
Audiosurf – £1.49
Thomas Was Alone – £1.49
Darwinia – £1.49
Defcon – £1.49
Mr Robot – £1.49
Uplink – £1.49

I think Nightsky, Super Hexagon and DLC Quest are all worth checking out at that price, Thomas Was Alone is nice, Shatter is probably the best Breakout-like I've seen, English Country Tune, Samorost 2 and the Abe's games are all pretty great too. If you liked The Binding of Isaac then The Basement Collection is by the same guy, EYE: Divine Cybermancy is a weird cyberpunk RPG shooter made in the Source engine, it wasn't well received but some people seem to enjoy it. Aaaaand if you like pixel art side scrolling beat em up things, Noitu Love 2 is probably worth having a look at. Most of the others I know nothing about.

FTL reminds me of Galaxis Online. A game I used to work on with a few others back in the day. :)

Anyway, voted on KFC eh... KRZ I mean. Just for you, Neema. ;)
I haven't gotten anything I want anymore anyway.

Gentlemen, another Summer Sale is drawing to a close and thus, it's almost time to tally up the casualties.

Thanks! I'd be astonished if it wins, but you never know.

My list of acquisitions is very short this year, but there are a few things I'd still like to get that I'll have to deliberate over. I've only spend £12 out of my £30 budget so far.

Gentlemen, another Summer Sale is drawing to a close and thus, it's almost time to tally up the casualties.

For me thus far...

CS complete collection - $7.49
Skyrim Legendary Edition - $36
Hotline Miami - $2.50
Civ 5 Brave New World - $20.79
Super Meat Boy - $3.50ish?
Surgeon Sim 2013 - $3.74
Torchlight 2 - $5X2 (copy for me and my brother)
Deus Ex:HR - $3
Terraria- $2.50
Half Life 2 - $2.50
Bastion - $2.24
Tropico 4 Bundle - $8
Fallout NV - $2.50

So just a touch over $100, not bad. This was my first sale so I had to build up my steam library. With a do over I'd probably have passed on Skyrim but whatever.

Gentlemen, another Summer Sale is drawing to a close and thus, it's almost time to tally up the casualties.

$19.99 SimBin Mega Bundle
$3.74 To The Moon Game and Soundtrack Bundle
$2.99 Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Standard Edition
$3.74 Grid
$12.49 Tomb Raider
$1.39 Just Cause
$2.49 FUEL
$3.74 Bastion + Soundtrack DLC

Around $50, which is pretty good for my first sale. BTW, for the Simbin Bundle, do I install Race Injection at all or just install Race 07 and its add-ons?

Gentlemen, another Summer Sale is drawing to a close and thus, it's almost time to tally up the casualties.

I bought...

1. €14.95 Tomb Raider Survival Edition 2013
2. €19.99 DCS: A10c Warthog
3. €09.60 Pre-order RoTT with free Apogee pack (via GMG. Thanks again Neema)
4. €16.99 Music Creator 6 Touch
5. €41.93 Grid 2 plus a bucket load of DLC
------------------
Total: €103.46

That's all I think. But more than intended.

Total Steam Library:
Games - 272
Apps - 2

Oh dear... one has to wonder if one wants to be called a collector or a gamer with those numbers. :dopey:

Skyrim Legendary Edition is £15 on amazon.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00CJ8X24C/?tag=gtplanetuk-20

Steam price in the sale couldn't beat the physical retail copy and you can install the game from the disc and use Steam to launch

I passed on Sleeping Dogs, the DLC package was £17 in the sale, game was £5. Not sure what all the DLC is, it costs £23 normally. I was hoping for some game/dlc package.

What I'm planning to purchase.

-Tomb Raider
-Fallout 3 GOTY

Tomb Raider because people keep telling me how great it is! And Fallout because I know how great it is and haven't had a chance to play any DLC outside of Brotherhood and Mothership Zeta! (Plus Mods!)

Only things I've bought are DCS: Black Shark (Which is awesome!), Borderlands 2 (Which is decent) and Skyrim Dragonborn DLC. haven't actually tried the DLC yet, but more world to explore will be nice. Don't think they've had a lot of interesting things on sale to be honest. Wish they'd stop re-using daily deals.

Borderlands 2 season pass is only 33% off? Thanks but I'll just grab the Tiny Tina DLC.

I bought: Fallout 3 GOTY ($5.00)
Fallout: NV Ultimate Edition ($5.00)

So grand total of $10 and got a lot of content for that money. Tbh I was only intending to buy those two, I don't play PC primarily so I am not really keen on buying heaps of games for it. I currently have a steam library of 20-30 great games and I am happy with that.

Well, I was going to buy a few more games as it's the last day of the sale, but I think I'll just not bother and remain content with the tiny haul I've got. And use the money to buy a long HDMI cable so I can plug my PC into the TV.

Over the last ten days, I've spent £13 or so on:
Surgeon Simulator 2013 - £2.39
Organ Trail -£0.99
Dishonoured: Knife of Dunwall - £2.71
Natural Selection 2 - £4.74
Gunpoint (not from Steam, but it was only discounted on the developer's site because of the Steam sale) - £4.10.

Gunpoint was the only thing I really wanted, I did want Monaco too until I heard it's not really worth playing with randoms. I do kind of want Sonic Generations, BIT.TRIP Fate, Fist Puncher and Anomaly 2, but... Meh, I have enough of a backlog already.

I got:
Fallout 1,2 and Tactics - $2.99
The Walking Dead - $6.24
Euro Truck Sim 2 - $9.99
I might still buy Borderlands 2 and the tiny tina DLC. But since my brother already has it on the PS3 I probably won't.

I am planning to get before the day is out:

Battlefield Bad Company 2 - $9.99 (Hopefully there is a actual community that plays it)
Counter Strike: Global Offensive - $5.09
And 3 Sealed Keys for Magic 2014 - $1.99 each

It amounts to just over 21 dollars, and should last me for quite the while.

I'm done with the sale.

My Tally:

  • NFS: Hot Pursuit 2010
  • Shift 2 Unleashed
  • System Shock 2
  • Dust: An Elysian Tail
  • Fallout 3 GOTY
  • Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Bundle
  • Portal 2
  • Tropico 4 Collector's Bundle

That's all for me.

I just got the Just Cause bundle on a whim . I ended up buying all the DLC and two games separately because the bundle itself was more expensive (!)
