Steam sale thread: Summer 2017 Edition

I bought:

MGS V: Ground Zeroes
FSX
The two most recent Payday 2 DLCs (Clover and The Diamond Heist)
Grid Autosport
Super Time Force Ultra
The Long Dark
Mercenary Kings
Mount and Blade: Warband

I was also gifted Dark Souls 2 so in sort-of return (as it was a thank you gift that I thought was a bit much) I gifted that friend Gunpoint and Luftrausers. I also got a free copy of Nuclear Throne on the 1st that I gave away to someone else, not that that really counts.

The most surprising thing about all of this? Apart from Dark Souls 2 and M&B:W, I've actually taken time out of Elite: Dangerous to play all of these purchases at least a little (I've played >10 hours of Ground Zeroes already!). I actually quite like Autosport, which surprised me.

My list:
- Binding of Isaac: Rebirth;
- Super Meat Boy;
- Alien: Isolation;
- Some cards;
- Still got 4.20€ to use in regular sales or other cards or DotA 2 skins.

Here's what I got:

Transistor
GRID Autosport
Bully: Scholarship Edition
Metro Redux
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
Child of Light
Dark Souls Prepare To Die Edition
Metal Gear Rising
Wolfenstein: The New Order
Max Payne 3
Shadow Warrior: Special Edition

With MB:W the experience is a lot better with mods. Search the Taleworlds forum for them.

Oh, I've got a mod guy. At least I assume I have, one of my Steam friends has over 1,500 hours in it and he's been talking a lot recently about an awesome Japanese mod he's been playing for the last ~100 or more hours. But thanks for the tip, I might try it vanilla for at least a little bit and then get on with the mods.

Japanese mod? That will be this then. http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,361.0.html
Easily my favourite mod. My current time count on this mod is about 300 hours.

WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED? But yeah, that sounds like it.

But before I get into that I'd have to be able to leave Elite: Dangerous alone for more than a couple of hours. So far I can only manage short sittings of other games before getting back to the grind... Nuclear Throne and Ground Zeroes are excellent games for that purpose, though.

So the 2015 Steam summer sale is coming (rumors say it'll be 11-22 June), and as always we should be aware of this nicely-done graphic...

@Technicolors I'm going to repost that in the OP, that's a great way to summarise the usual advice.

This year my wishlist is longer than it's ever been, but it's got a lot more early access/preorder stuff than ever and a lot of the stuff on it is DLC for stuff I already own. Also I'm building a new PC so I have a strong incentive to not buy a load of games this year, but we'll see... Oh, and it's my girlfriend's birthday in two weeks, that'll be expensive too.

But yeah, my wishlist excluding stuff you can't buy yet, early access, preorder, hardware and DCS World DLC (which is never more than 70% off and is still too expensive given that I don't take it seriously at all) is:

Besiege (I mean, it's £5 even without a discount, I should just stop being cheap)
Stock Car Extreme
Formula Truck 2013

X-Plane 10
Grim Fandango Remastered
Kentucky Route Zero
Door Kickers
Fahrenheit Remastered (it's currently 50% so they'll annoy a lot of people if they cut it more than that)
Resident Evil HD Remastered
Tales From the Borderlands
I am Bread
Dex
Ride

Reassembly
Goat Simulator: GoatZ
VRC Pro (also currently discounted)
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
FSX: Battle of Britain Spitfire
Assetto Corsa Dream Pack 1 (I very nearly bought it last time it was on sale, not sure I could resist again)
aerofly RC 7
Technobabylon
Arma 3 DLC Bundle
Deponia: The Complete Journey

Toybox Turbos
Chroma Squad
Invisible, Inc.

Alien Isolation Season Pass.

I've emboldened things that I think will get cheap enough for me to buy and italicised the stuff that I think is too new to get a tempting discount. Let's see how right/wrong I am. We should make a game out of this somehow, with an added penalty for games you buy that weren't on your wishlist.

I'm also betting it'll start this Thursday rather than next (it's almost always on a Thursday) since this week-long sale only has 25 games in it. Then again there's a possibility that's simply in preparation for next week and there may not be any week-long sales next Monday, but I guess we'll see.

I am going to try and not spend as much money on this sale as the past few sales . . . wait, who I am kidding!?

I'm hoping for an early further discount on Ark, but that seems unlikely. Sucks that it's $24.00 in the US but around £19.00 in the UK, when proportionately, should be around £16.00. Not chancing that for an early access game with no optimization thus far :(

Been looking to buy BeamNG for a while. If it goes on sale to £12 or lower I will probably buy it.

I started playing the Dirty Bomb open beta and it's actually pretty good. Like a creative new version of Black Ops or something along those lines. Nice fast pace, smooth, and plays well in general (although the menus can be a little annoying at times).
All in all it's a really fun game but at the same time it makes me want to buy CS: GO and see if I will enjoy that even more.

Of course, none of this will be a problem in about a week when I get a new PC and start DL'ing all the games I'm waiting to (since I don't want to DL twice).

IT STARTS.

The servers are still falling over left, right and centre so good luck actually buying anything right now. I won't list the deals because you can just as easily just go and see for yourself, but it continues the trend of not being as enormously exciting as, er, the 2011 sale which was insane by comparison, they've been downhill since then really.

Only game I think I might buy is Cities:Skylines if it drops to around $20 or so on a daily/flash sale, I doubt it'll drop more than $25 though with being such a new game. Maybe if something interesting pops up for cheap I'd give it a try, I haven't played a good single player FPS in a while so maybe I'll grab Bioshock Infinite. Then again I still have Metro:Last Light to play through when I get home.

I should probably just hold off on buying games, this is my 12th steam sale now and I have a ton of games left to play which I haven't even touched because I'm now just nearing 2000 hours in Dota 2

And Rockstar proves what a ****** company they are. I'm not even interested in the game, yet I'm still upset by how they are doing this sale. Arbitrarily increasing the price by adding in-game currency to the game, resulting in the discount bringing the game down to the normal price.

Give it a few years, and this will be how all the big companies do the Steam summer and winter sales...

Any word if Civilization 5 DLC and expansion packs are being discounted?
