Steam sale thread: Summer 2017 Edition

Rockstar is my second favorite video game company after valve but they're really pissing me off with almost everything they did lately and now they offer...
GTA V + Great White Shark Cash Card for $59.99 (over here).
Also GTA V + Max Payne 3 + Tiger shark cash card for also $59.99 (over here).
Yet they kept the price of gta v alone for $59.99.....WTF?? They could make discount with it, like %50 discount of the price but no they just became another EA/Ubisoft.

Anyone know if Steam will refund game+DLC bundles? I would like to finally try Spore with all of the DLC, but if I can't get refund on it (If I don't like it or other reason) then I'll just purchase the standard edition.

You guys should also check out TB's Salebox series which he goes over the Daily Deals per day of the Sale:

About GTA V, by increasing the price with microtransactions they achieve two things. First, they remove any incentive for people to refund the game and rebuy it at a lower price (except for the in-game money, which isn't really a big deal). Second, they prevent anyone from refunding the game if they buy it with the microtransaction at all because if you launch the game then the in-game money is added automatically, then you can't get a refund for it... I think.

It's a shame Valve let them circumvent the refund policy like this, but then there's nothing really preventing them from doing it. It's a very convenient, legal way to make a game more attractive while not actually discounting it at all then preventing people from getting a refund.

I am going to try and not spend as much money on this sale as the past few sales . . . wait, who I am kidding!?

steamsale_zpsf57c89a3.jpg

Much like I predicted, I have done a terrible job of not buying stuff; I am such a sucker when it comes to sales. So far, I have purchased:
  • Gun of Icarus
  • Sir, You are Being Hunted
  • Metro Redux Bundle
  • Vakyria Chronicles
  • Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed
  • Long Live the Queen
  • Minimum
  • Child of Light
  • This War of Mine
  • Civ IV: The Complete Edition
  • Transistor
  • Gauntlet
  • The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
  • How to Survive
I just picked up the Humble Indie Bundle All Stars and already have copies of Super Meat Boy, Limbo, and Risk of Rain. So whoever wants them can claim them. Just let me know.

Also, I posted the above in the 'Premium Gaming Thread', but had no takers. All of the above are available, along with two copies of 'PAYDAY 2:A Merry Payday Christmas Soundtrack' and a copy of 'Contraption Maker'.

Bought WatchDogs for £9.59 which is a good deal, How To Survive for 49p (I think) and Red Faction: Guerilla for £2.99 so far. Contemplating whether to get Far Cry 3 as I already have it and have beaten it on PS3. Dishonored for £2.49 looks quite appealing as well.

I've already bought more than I usually do.

Beyond Good & Evil - Heard it's an amazing game, so let's put that to the test.
Civilization V Deluxe Edition - Wanted to try it. Like it thus far
Hitman Absolution - Something different from what I usually play. Haven't tried it yet.
Portal 2 - I dunno why.
Wolfenstein: Old Blood - Base game is awesome, expecting the DLC to be awesome too.

Should I buy GTA III for £1.79 or MC II for £1.59? Only buying one more game but decisions!

Anyone think Far Cry 4 will get more than 50% discount during the summer sale?

No, you can guarantee it won't because it was in the daily deal yesterday. If it goes in a daily or flash deal, that's as good as it's going to get... I remember in 2011 that wasn't the case AND the flash sales rotated every 4 hours or so, the result being a lot of people losing sleep in favour of cheap games - this was also back when they were practically giving games away, too. They changed the protocol quite sharply after that.

Five days in and I've finally spent some money - Door Kickers and the Assetto Corsa DLC. I've also been gifted Besiege and Cook, Serve, Delicious, I'm not exactly sure why.

Looking at my wishlist now I don't think I'll be buying much more. I'll probably get Toybox Turbos but most other things I want have either come up already with unappealing prices or are too new to get a good enough reduction, but that's fine by me really since I already have loads to play...

I think ( :P ) I've only bought Spore so far, but I am being a big cheapo by playing the game in offline mode, which means that Steam won't count my played hours and I can still get a refund if need be.

So far i've spent roughly $38 on Far Cry 4 and the Assetto Corsa Dream Pack 1.

Will probably be my only purchases during this years Steam Sale, unless something really catches my attention.

To add to my list above, I have added:
  • Dino D-Day
  • Terraria
  • Grow Home
  • Door Kickers
I also still have Limbo, Risk of Rain, and Contraption Maker available to whoever wants to claim them.

Quick qeustion, is Ford Street Racing worth getting? I just bought Ford Racing 3 the other day and am wondering if FSR is worth getting. Reviews say Ford Racing 3 has more cars and more replayability...

How much worse than the original game is Test Drive Unlimited 2?

Quite a bit.

- Always online DRM, so if you lose your connection or if their server is down (which happens a lot from what I hear), you can't play.
- A story so bad it'll make you cringe yourself to sleep. Seriously. It's like some sort of reality TV show and you play the part of some hapless pleb who gets caught up in it.
- Racing games really shouldn't have achievements for getting your character some plastic surgery.
- Physics are pretty awful, imagine the worst casual racing game you've ever played (probably Shift 2, right?), they're worse than that. I think they were going for authentic but accessible like Forza 4 rather than super simple like Forza Horizon, they came out... Awful.

However for cruising around for the fun of it, it's kind of a hard game to beat because the maps are so huge - there's Ibiza and Hawaii this time - so there's a lot to see, but much of it is samey and repetitive (like the first game). Nothing else I've played has the same wow factor when you find a nice road, though, simply because they're often so much longer than you might find in, say, GTA V or Burnout Paradise.

In summary, would I recommend it at it's current price? Maybe. I'd say no if you want a racing game or a vaguely realistic open world driving game but yes if your favourite part of the first game was just driving about, discovering things.

Does anyone know if it's possible to send gifts to yourself on Steam? I want to purchase the ETS2 Northern- and Eastern DLC. Steam comes up with a warning, about the Eastern DLC as I already own it and I feel it's simply a shame for it to just vanish when someone could use it. Therefore I wish to give it away but I don't know if it's possible in a combination with gifting yourself, or at all for that matter.

Just bought Arma 3 with DLC for Helicopters, Karts, and Marksman package... Only $29.99. Basic Arma 3 is only $24.99.

Very happy to have seen this sale today and looking forward to many hours of Arma.

PM me if any of you play and want to connect. :D

If you don't know Arma, or haven't seen Arma 3 specifically...
Try and resist if you can. :mischievous:

Warning, Mature game. Violence, military simulation.
