Cannot get near him on the forward direction of George V Rally though, not sure what sort of superhuman skills Austin343 has to be able to pull that one off. :scared:

It is much harder than any of the other races with that car, but it is doable. If you have the transmission shortened to fit the track, you can keep on its tail, but you have to count on it making a mistake to actually pass, and then you have to be right behind to take advantage.

I have a new entry, too - not really original, but I realized I hadn't even done this event stock yet!

Beginners Hall: Sunday cup - All Races
Car: Toyota Prius G (J) '02 (Used, no oil change, S2 tires) / FF / 68HP/ 1220kg / 17.9kg/HP / 200 A-spec points

In all of these races, I needed a lineup with no MGs, and almost every lineup gave 200 points. Autumn Ring Mini and High Speed Ring were easy and clean, and Beginners Course was easy, too, but the simple fact of having to pass five idiot AI cars in four laps at such a tight course meant that I couldn't avoid having about three minuscule contacts. Motegi West, despite the ridiculous 7.5 second deficit you're handed at the starting line, wasn't too difficult, although I did need a lineup with a relatively slow lead car, the Mini Cooper, and only passed it in the last corner. It was the same story here as at Beginners Course in that I couldn't afford to dawdle behind the AI and make a totally clean pass every time, although again, all the contacts were minor. And at Clubman Stage Route 5, I did eventually manage a clean race, but only after some lineup searching to find one with basically all slow cars, and a leading Polo GTi.

Having just watched that video again, there's some interesting sound pickups on there. :dopey:
As I'm in the final bend of lap 1, the whistle heard is our kettle boiling as my wife was filling her hot-water bottle before going to bed.
As I enter the first bend of lap 2 there's a series of cracks. Sadly that was my knees & ankles as I crouched down ready to hit the L2 button to switch to front view after I passed the BMW! :ouch:

I'll edit the specs in later, was gone midnight when I posted, and couldn't be bothered to go back downstairs and turn on PS2 again to see what they were. I'll edit them in properly in a bit but I'm just back from the gym and need to shower before preparing dinner.

Another nice video, Smallhorses. 👍 Out of curiosity, how often are your races 100% clean? Of course you make your best effort, and usually any contacts you have will be because the AI moved into you, but still, I'm curious how often you manage to completely avoid the rolling roadblocks.

I did the Deutsche Touring Car Meisterschaft in exactly the same way as the ones on the list for 200, and I thought I would post it because nobody had yet gotten Fuji for 200, but I thought I remembered someone sweeping the series. A quick search turned up this entry by mynameissport, the second part of which you apparently accidentally overlooked in your most recent update.

Also, a new entry for me. It's a duplicate of Kimi-R's, but he didn't specify S1 tires, which explains why you couldn't match his point total for these races, Smallhorses.

European Hall: British Lightweight Series - All Races
Car: Lotus Elise Type 72 '01 (S1 tires, no oil change) / MR / 122HP / 756kg / 6.2kg/HP / 109 A-spec points

vs. any lineup with no Spitfire. Easy, 100% clean races. It's a pity that the Marcos and prize Spitfire can't keep up in these races, because 200 stock points (or something near) is impossible otherwise.

Endurance Hall: Circuit De Le Sarthe 1 24 Hour Enduro
Car: '98 AMG Mercedes CLK GTR Race Car (old oil, 3753.0 miles on odometer, R1 tires, downforce @ 38/50) / MR / 767 hp / 1000 kg / 1.3 kg/hp / 200 A-spec points!!! against the 2nd lineup after reset

If there was an excitement scale from 1-10 for races in GT4, this race would be at least a 15. :D For the first 63 laps, it was challenging to get far ahead of the Sauber and maintain any kind of lead due to his blinding speed on warm tires. On lap 63, I made it to the pits with the Sauber right on my rear bumper and changed to R2 tires from R1's to try and build up some sort of lead. Thankfully, I was able to build up quite a lead due to the Sauber being slower on cold tires than I was. On lap 100, I foolishly pitted after being out on the track for only 2 laps. :dunce: It actually worked out well because I was able to switch to R3's from laps 107-112. I returned to R2's for laps 112-126 then switched back to R1 tires with a 1 min 30 sec lead. The switch slowed me down enough that over the next 135 laps, the Sauber got as close as 20 seconds behind me due to the pit cycling and our tires being in different states. :nervous: On lap 261, with victory still unsure and the Sauber close behind, I made a daring call and switched to R3's until lap 270, where I switched back down to R1's. I ran the R1's until lap 378, where I switched to R2's again because I was unsure of how many laps I was going to run, and I didn't want to do something stupid like pit on the start of the last lap. :dunce: The Sauber at this point was still less than 1 minute behind. 👍 After gaining nearly 32 seconds over the Sauber in just 12 laps, I made 1 final switch to R1 tires on lap 390 and ran them to the end of the race, which turned out to be 405 laps. After 24 hours of racing, the last seen interval over the Sauber was just 1 minute 9.616 seconds as he crossed the Mulsanne Checkpoint. :) :crazy: :eek:

Facts Of Interest For The Race

I was slightly faster than the Sauber from Ford Chicane-L'Arche Chicane, but depending on the state of our tires, he would gain up to 4 sec on me in the run from T3-T6 (La Florandiere Chicane-Porsche Curves). :scared:

I pitted every 9 laps on R1 tires, every 6-7 laps on R2's, and every 4-5 laps on R3's. The Sauber and the other Group C cars pitted every 7 laps.

My fastest lap of the race was 3:22.363, run on R3 tires.

I started off the race with 767 hp and 3753.0 miles on the car, but dropped to 726 hp as I put on another 3432.8 miles.

I was doing Endurance races: Roadster 4hr
in Mazda MX-5 J-Limited (J) '91 108 HP 940 Kg (used, no oil , S1's)
At the 2 hour mark I was 2 laps behind a Madza MX-5 1800 RS (J) '00 so,
I desided that 🤬 it!
Best lap I had done so far was 1'12.473 and I hit constant 1'13s in the car..
Then I pitted to change for B-spec and see the laptimes the 2000 MX5 was setting.
I got really pissed when I saw that it hit constant 1'11s and had a best lap of 1'10.634.
So gave the B-spec rest of the race..
The race would have given about 120 A-spec pts :grumpy:

"Bah" (frustration)

I will return to this even eventually. :D

EDIT: Bought used 91000+ km one that has just 107 HP

Not a too bad race but a nice little challenge and a harder lineup used than Mr Smallhorses did and pitted every 18 laps and did the last 12 laps stint so a different pit stop window used compared to SH.

Below are my first contributions to this stock car quest:

Since money is no object, I went to the used car lot and purchased two Subaru WRX's (I have over 500 cars, but most of them are modified, and I did not want to run afoul of the stock car rules by mistake). A 1999 WRX gave me 143 A-Spec points, while the 1998 WRX gave me 155 points as follows:

Subaru One Make Race:
Stars of Pleiades - Suzuka
Car: Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STI Ver.V '98 (used, old oil)/4WD/252HP/1270kg/5.0kg/HP/ 155 A-Spec points

The race was a nice clean race against three Subaru WRX's and two Legacy B4's. I was following the leader on the second lap until the turn just before the hairpin when the leading car spun out on the downhill by touching the sand, and he ended up on the track facing towards me. I sneaked by without touching him and went on for a nice comfortable win. I just kept telling myself not to cut the final chicane.

And then, to get my first 200 A-Spec point win in a stock car, I took my new BMW M3 GTR Race Car (which had 12 miles of testing on the odometer) to the Dream Car Championship in the Extreme Hall.

Dream Car Championship - Race 9 - El Capitan

I had a nice clean race against a Nissan GTR Concept LM Race Car, Ford GT LM Race Car '02, Pagani Zonda LM Race Car, Jaguar XJ220 LM Race Car, Mazda RX-7 LM Race Car.

Its kind of interesting racing stock cars this way, because all you do is buy the car and take it to the track. I have been so used to buying cars and buying parts and buying tires and tweeking the tuning, that its a nice change of pace to just buy a car and go race.

Continuing with my Subaru theme, I took my Subaru Impreza Rally Car Prototype '01 to Tsukuba:

Fairly easy race against the Saleen S7 once you tip-toe past the Saleen without touching.

On a tangent, I was thinking of saving my game from within GT4, where it brings over your credits but deletes all your cars, and using this game save for the stock car challenge where you buy/win cars and race them stock. This way I would know that all my cars are stock (because right now, I would say that 90% of my cars are corrupted with various upgrades. Has anyone tried this?

I'd like to throw my head into the ring:)

Endurance Race - Laguna Seca 200 Miles
Car: RUF RGT '00 (R1 tyres) / RR / 379HP / 1330kg / 3.5kg/HP / 200 A-spec
Lineup(starting order) - Pontiac GTO 5.7 Coupe, Chevrolet Camaro, Saleen S7, Ford GT '05, Shelby Series 1 Super Charged.
Time - 2:21'11.216 (1'31.179 Lap) +25secs vs. Shelby Series 1.

This was hard. I was never going to win in a straight race against the Ford, S7 or Shelby so I needed to last the same amount of time as the S7 (22 Laps). I managed to 3 stop this in the end.

Lap 1-22
I managed to get up to first by the end of the first lap I think while the S7 held up the Ford and Shelby. I wasn't expecting the Ford to pit on Lap 13 so that took it out of the equation and left me holding off the S7 while the Shelby pitted on Lap 17. The S7 was right on my for the rest of the stint.

Laps 23-44
Much of the same from the S7 but I was shocked to come out of the pits behind the Shelby. I had to wait until that pitted in before I could deal with holding the S7 off again.

Laps 44-67
The Shelby was 30 seconds ahead when I came out of the pits and pulling away from me. When it eventually pitted in (Lap 52) it came out 6 seconds ahead and had the Camaro about 5 seconds up the track. I managed to catch it and overtake it while it's tires were cool before it reached the Camaro (Fastest lap of the race too). Then it and the S7 got held up for ages, the S7 getting through first at Lap 57 while the Shelby was still behind it a few laps later. The S7 closed to within 3 seconds of me but consistent laps under 1:32 kept it 3 seconds back.

Laps 68-Finish
The Shelby was ahead of me when I came out and pitted 1 lap later coming out 2 seconds ahead. Like earlier, I took advantage of it's cold tires and got a few secomnds ahead. Again, consistent laps under 1:32 stopped it from getting close until 3 laps from the end when my tires were done. Thankfully, that and the S7 pitted in.

I was really shocked that I managed to outlast the S7 because my tire management is absolutely appaling

But your report got me thinking, is there a difference in the performance of the AI cars between the various versions of GT4? I've run the Laguna Seca race many times, and I've never experienced the Shelby Series 1 being able to beat, or even compete with the Saleen S7.
I've noticed some results that seem odd to me over in the race-report section too, including one Tokyo-race that had the RX-8 Concept finishing last!:confused:
I see ajbownes is from England, that's where I bought my game so it would be strange if there really was a difference between our games.
Has anyone else noticed anything like this?
 
From the information compiled by Digital-Nitrate for this race, it seems to reveal that on average, the Shelby's finishing time is around 10s quicker than the Saleen's probably due to a better tyre & pit strategy. The Saleen is monstrously fast, but notoriously poor on worn tyres.

Hmm, that is strange. Perhaps it's just been the lineups I've raced, the S7 has always beaten the Shelby with relative ease in my races.




I saw one post saying that the Ford RS200 road car, stock, makes 200 A-spec points at stars and stipes races in american hall. Tried it, was beaten, but I think it is doable.

By the way, has anyone ever won anything but the green Camaro from this tournament? I've completed it four times now, and I have 4 ugly green cars to show for it..:grumpy:
 
One (perhaps nooby...) question, Do you have to find out a race that gets you the 200 A-Spec points or you just have to complete it to be part of the "Club 200" ?

Not sure if I understand what you're asking, but you can join the club if you've won a race for 200 points using a stock car. If someone else has won the same race before in the same car doesn't matter, confirmation is always good.
But you do have to win the race, anyone understands entering the Subaru 360 in the FGT-championship will offer 200 points, but it's unwinnable, rendering the information useless.

I was expecting a lot more competition from the Ford GT too but it pitted in so many times that it didn't really cause a problem. I remember from doing the El Capitan endurance and the Shelby surprised me quite a bit there too.

I don't remember much about this except it was against a pretty weak field and won by 40seconds against the MINOLTA.

This was pretty easy and I was never in danger of losing. The MINOLTA fell 8 seconds back after 3 laps and hung around that far back until it pitted in. I had to pit in at the same time as the R92CP took over and lead. when that pitted in it came out ahead of the MINOLTA but never troubled me.

Car: Chevrolet Camaro LM Race Car '01 (R3 tires) 195 A-Spec
I didn't write the HP or weight details but I'll edit the post with them when I next load the game up.

Line up - Audi R8, Nissan R390 GT1, Chevrolet Camaro (same on as mine only in the much cooler blue colour scheme), Chaparrel 2D, Gillet Vertigo Win Margin - +3.515 vs. Audi R8.

This had a much easier field. I'm pretty sure that without altering some setting you couldn't beat a field with Group C or LMP cars for 200 points cos you need to stay around 1'32.5 - 1'33.5 and the Camaro can't really do that.

The gap was a lot closer than it should have been because I needed to stay out an extra lap and the R8 gained 7 seconds on that lap. I had to catch up to the R8 when it came out of the pits but that only took a lap and then it was just a case of getting to the end. Not overly difficult. Will probably put the replay up later too.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for what could do this race? I tried the XJ220 Race Car but the XJR-9 and the Toyota 7 were a touch too quick when I tried it.

ajbownes, someone used the Motul Pitwork Z for that race and had success. You could try that and see where it gets you.

Smallhorses, I think it might be wise to heed your advice to yourself from three months ago, although posting in this thread has admittedly slowed way down:

Versus (don't bother trying to repeat it, since I did some other things first): Toyota 2000GT, Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA, Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale, Lotus Elan S1, Nissan Silvia (CSP311)

I didn't think the Toyota would be as much of a problem as it was, and it beat me soundly at Fuji, where I finished second, and Nurburgring, where I ended up third after declining to qualify and watching the Elan lead until the final straight. I did qualify for all but Nurburgring, and had no problem at El Capitan, Cote D'Azur, or Laguna Seca, except for the 2000GT slamming into my side three times for no reason in the first few corners at El Capitan. :ouch:

I tested Jaguar XKR Coupe (used) at El Capitan Endurance race
and I know now that it can be done using either S2's or S1's for 200pts .

The only downside of this car is the overwhelming understeer that is a killer with anything other than green tyres.

So this is really a challenge to get around El Capitan for 66 laps. :lol:

Yeah I'll try that. Might try one or two of the other JGTC cars too while I'm at it. Don't think I'll have too much success but it's worth trying.

Tried again with the Camaro vs the Pescarolo Courage and managed to hold it behind me up until the last corner and then my awful tire wear kicked in and sent me into the wall :ill:

I knew from the start that all I had to do was stay ahead of the C9 while the MINOLTA pulled away because it would pit twice. I overtook the C9 on lap 4 but came out of the pits behind it and had to catch it up.

British GT Series: Race 3 - El Capitan
Car: Jaguar XKR Coupe '99 (6.2 mile used, no oil) / FR / 380HP / 1640kg / 4.3kg/HP 200 A-Spec

I believe I have found the ideal grid to defeat for maximum A-spec at the Pan-Euro. This grid works out especially well for you at the difficult round at La Sarthe. The grid consists of BMW M3 CSL, TVR T350C, AMG SL 65, Lotus Motorsports Elise and TVR Tuscan. At La Sarthe, you can draft to the front while the Tuscan takes more than a lap to start chasing you.

I found this grid in the NTSC mainline #19 position when driving a Stratos, and in the #14 position when driving an M5, by using the Preview function to force alternate grids to appear. A preview of the Pan-Euro Sarthe round will cause one alternate grid to insert itself into the game. A preview of any of the 24 hour races will force about 6 alternate grids to appear. sukerkin has reported getting this grid at PAL position #18, but I'm not sure which car he was using at the time.

Note: Neither of the cars I was using was stock, and this report is for advisory purposes only.

Nice updating, Smallhorses. 👍 I did find a couple mistakes, however: first, the [color] tags went awry on the Tuning Car GP. Second, I seem to have somehow messed up in copying and pasting when I posted my British GT entry, and those races should be 200 points, not 146 as I said. :dunce:
