To make yourself better PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE then when your fed up with that PRACTICE some more.
Another thing to do is use the same tuner, one that suits your style, for most of your racing and you get used to how they tune. One other thing to do is always add as many fast drivers to your friends list as you can gives you something to compete against.
Golds will start to come quickly until you get to a certain point then improvement will come at a slower rate.
I started this on gt5 and was very slow just getting golds etc (1 year ago) now i am faster and improving every week.
I can normaly get gold in ten minutes or so of trying.
The hardest thing you have to do is find a tuner who suits your style i recommend  GTP_CoargoRatt
suits my style perfectly.

Thanks Stewy for the shout out, really appreciate it. Some very good advice you give. 👍 The first line in particular, sounds like an exact quote out of my book. ;) 👍 Glad I have been able to help you out along the way and its always a joy competing with you. Continued good health to you my friend and look forward to more great times ahead.

Well, well, well. FYI I started with the 1st GT on the PSOne... And played all other GTs since then.
So, I think that the "PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE and more PRACTICE" part is already done...;)
Which leads me to the conclusion that I'm a rather bad driver (and I am further disadvantaged since I just use a DS3 as I have no space to install a Wheel system).

Anyway, I guess the track and car combo did not suit my style. I hate that Matterhorn track.

On the other hand, I golded the BMW M1 event on my very first lap (however there is still much room for improvement, but I have very little time to play for the moment), and the Ferrari event took me just 4 or 5 laps to gold (but I quitted immediately, didn't like the car at all). So I guess my results and motivation depend on the car/track combo too.
On some Seasonals I managed to be in the top 3,000 and even higer (which I consider not too bad in view of my capabilities), but on some others just getting the gold is a pain in the 🤬...
And this one was the first which required me to depart from my rules and use other people's tunes, which is something I don't like much... I prefer to try by myself first, which gives me an idea of my real level.

Thank you all for sharing your tunes and experience.

Same for me on the Bimmer event but not for Matterhorn (or Monza for that matter). I've been higher than 3,000 but just a bit, same as you, but the seasonals are getting tougher. That's a good thing. GT6 so far hasn't been much of a challenge so it's good to see some tough ones. The Matterhorn TT is great because it's not boring, you can continue a red lap without wasting much time. I'll try your brake settings on P's tune. That might be the difference. I only need .257 for gold. Now, if I could only find a tune for that Ferrari.....

Edit: The brake change did it. Front to 7, rear to 5 and gold, not by much, was mine! Thanks for the tip.

Doesn't make you a 'bad' driver not being able to get top 10 times or even top 100/1000 in the world, remember you are comparing yourself against the best in the world, those guys have a natural ability, something you cannot learn, you've either got it or you ain't. They also do a mad amount of laps to attain that 1(one) freak lap and make up weird and wacky tunes...

Sadly the DS3 excuse no longer washes, the guy at (or near) the top of the FXX tt uses a DS3 and crank won the tesla one last week (although I think his was made by Nasa).

1:15.209 in 5th place with the Magic Mitch tune! Great setup bud. :)
Wow, good time.
Have been out of action for a couple of days now, think I had a 1.17.4xx which was good enough for top 100 a couple days ago. Guessing now it's probably in the top 200.
Looking forward to competing with all the quicker drivers out there, looks like a v low 1.15 or high 14s is possible.
I have been using prianos tune and only really made changes to the brakes, 1 f and 3 rear, thinking I can shave at least 1.5 seconds off easily but beyond that, how can anyone go quicker.

My question for the quicker drivers is are you using the handbrake through the last few corners, including the ones right at the bottom of the track? Just a little tap here and there seems to be quicker, but hard to be certain.

Looking forward to hearing from people and competing at the top hopefully.

So, any tunes for the WRX STI '07?

Edit: Screw that, I need one for the S206 NBR Challenge package. I've given up on trying to find one for the WRX STI and I'm probably just gonna give this seasonal entirely if I can't get a tune for this impreza. I really don't feel like spending money for another car and loads more tuning just to gold this thing, especially when the payout in this game doesn't allow you to have loads of money as GT5 did.

Hi, I am nkf_nkf. I am using praiano63's tune with a few tweeks and am doing 1:17.4's. The 22b seems to be the way to go, however the tune was posted a while ago and is not set up for this track. brake and suspension adjustments need to be made. I also use the ds3 stick.
Hey Nkf,
I am also in the same boat nkf.
Also running that tune, in the 17.5s
Is your ps username the same as here?
Happy racing
Bert

I wanted to improve on my time in the S206 and did so with the 22B, first with my own rough tune and then with @GTP_CargoRatt 's. The latter was slower than my own 22B tune (I went for more movement in the chassis) but boooooooooyyyyy was it fun sliding that car around the track. I then softened the dampers a little, increased front end bite and changed some parts out to set power limiter at 100%, which resulted in dropping some 400 places in rank. Thanks for that.

This track. Is. Ridiculous....

...damn good fun!

However, I too am very far away from the Gold. What's the proper way to handle the extreme uphill to corner? It's madness!

I have found that you must brake at the bottom of the hill and as you approach the top gently move the car toward the right side apex so that essentially you are taking on the diagonally from left bottom to top right. As you are going over the top you feather the throttle and until you are sure all wheels are on the ground (you should only be skimming the ground and NOT launching.lol) you will hear it. Then gun it! the next turn, the same thing, brake a touch n then throw the car into the corner without touching the left apex as 9/10 times you will roll or not get enough traction to recover. Does this help?

That's a good plan. There is a point on the hill where you fly and a point just before it where you don't. You can do pretty far up and then brake but if you hit that little bump, there's nothing you can do. The roof view is best, I think, since you get a bit of height to see where you are. On the next one, I basically hugged the left side so I wouldn't fly off to the right and hit the wall. A slight touch on the brake is all you need. You can cut the next corner a bit to the right. I'm not anywhere near the top but I did get gold finally. If I can do it, anyone can.

Have you noticed the Scooby wreck shop at the bottom of that hill?

Using a slightly modified praiano63 tune, but can't get lower than 1:18.1xx with a DS3 but still puts me in the top 650, I very rarely get in the top 1000.

Yea, its beginning to look like a junkyard down there. I think I may have contributed at least a dozen or so.
Guys and gals just got so frustrated with their cars, they just never came back to claim them. Of course, that was usually three weeks later when the driving teams got out of hospital. Which, interestingly enough, is that huge resort looking complex at the top of the mountain. Full service business model.

My second attempt of a tune for this seasonal has got me closer to achieving gold myself. alot of time to be found in this tune as I am not very good round matterhorn track. Its infuriatingly annoying that the slightest slide off track sees the lap invalidated and I don't push as much as I probably should. Nor do I have the time to do 50 billion laps. Anyway, enough ranting. The link to my second tune is below.

Subaru Impreza WRX STi Prodrive Style (Type-1) '01 (Seasonal Setup)

Currently on a 1.21.2 with a sloppy and not very confident lap. I will crack this seasonal before the darn thing ends.

Thank you all for sharing your tunes and experience.

I see your point in that about making it on your own.
But to be faster there are way to much to learn from things like trying others tunes, than you ever manage on your own.
So don't concider it as negative. That gives so much useful information tuning and racing. Thing you thought you knew, might turn out to really the truth after all.
Even the greatest racers / natural talents says they are ALWAYS something new to learn.

I have played since day 1 also, and always belived I was pretty damn good at it. I beat all my friends easily...
No Internet and no idea on how fast people was "out there"...
A decade or so later I was so excited to play online for the first time, to "beat them all". Uhh... It was horrible, I struggled not to be last in whatever friggin race I started. With my favorite car on with my favorite track I was demolished. That day I got a serious "kick in the groins"... Still not completely recovered from that, actually...
All those years I thought I'd figured it all out, the driving, the tuning...

You say that making top 3,000 was ok, and it really is you know, but what if you had the optimal tuning for your car, and shaved 2-3 sec off for 100so. If you trust your setup you also get more confident when pushing hard
I'll tell you this m8, the closer you'll get to the these bastards :) up front, the more fun it gets.

For instance in the many easy Career mode races, one thing I do to prevent been bored to death on the kids races I always tries to make current lap faster than the last. Starting of slow and increase to the max of what you can in the end.
That makes me so more concentrated to effectively learning from mistakes, as well as a god way to learn the track - in opposite to only focus on the driving line...
Rit
Arg!...never been this far off of gold before.I'm still looking up at silver for cryin' out loud..:(

Cannot improve on a 1.17.5.
Have been using a priano tune variant and now can't even seem to run consistent 18s.
Think I'm around 390th,it's the first seasonal I've tried to take seriously.
Long way to go.
Does body rigidity and oil change start to effect things over time?

Hey lisanorm, I'm fairly new to this, but you seem to have some positive responses to all your tunes, nice work mate.
Being that I'm new, who are "the greats"?
After following this site for a few weeks, names that come up are " amo, Holland? Cargoratt, doodlemonoply, "to name a few off the top of my head.
Very interested to discover the sub gt world

both do over a long run, affect BHP, think thats why a lot dont do oil change for tt's, body is alright as long as you restore it now and then, you will feel the difference,i'm sure others can let you know more......not a bad time either i only just broke under 1:17
