Let me know how you all stand on used cars when you get the chance.
I will be around to hear it as usual.

No problems with used cars so long as they regularly appear. I can't imagine people being happy with changing cars or start/stopping races too many times just to fast forward to the day a certain car appears.

I think the idea of using one make and allowing people to race in their favourite model would work.

For example...

How many different skylines are there?

Or Nissan "Z's" or Corvettes?

OR HONDA CIVIC's.....

I think the idea of a Used car race would work well if people had the uber save.

If Kent or CFM were to put the save link into the first post of the race that week, giving everyone with the ability to download, the ability to download the gazillion credits and all used cars saves, then people would have the cars they needed.

Of course the only problem with this plan would be the vast amount of racers who dont own a maxdrive or similar device.

Humph. foiled again.

I happen to be in the BC5 this year, and i have another suggestion.
Seeing as this is the suggestions thread.

Could CFM/Kent set up a 2 or 3 week series of races that took this into account? Sounds like a neat idea.

My brother and I were just talking about ideas and speaking of group C - I'd like to see the Dihatsu(sp?) Midgets at Autumn Ring Mini or some other short course.

Would be slow and painful, but definately challenging!

I'm sitting ok on the used ones - in fact, I would *LOVE* to see a race in the Interceptor. I would hope most people would have purchased at least one of those just cause it's one of the collectible rares (according to Prima's Guide Book anyway) I've got a collection of 11 so far and I'm on day 12XX, almost 2 cycles through, so they appear fairly regularly.

However, I'm going to search the archive to write out a list of the races we've done so far in the gt4 series.

Is that list ready yet?

well when i said Group C, or class c, i was talking about old lemans cars, minolta, sauber c9, nissan R92CP, those cars... freakingly fast, not really a midget... 💡

but hey, i don´t think there are many supporters to those cars, they are a lot less forgiving, and expensive... atill i hope to see them one day...

since the moderators are listening to this, i wouldn´t be surprised to see that next week we will be racing in laguna seca. its about time, that track is too much famous to not hava a race in...

the Vette C5R x Viper GTS-R already sounds nice... and if we are talking about variety, i would also put the Camaro LM and the Ford GT40 LM in that mix

If a car can steer through the Corkscrew, then it is going too slow. The whole point of that corner is to see if you can throw it down through there. That's the beauty of it.

But, if you would like to steer around it, feel free to take it extra slow

I considered this too. The only problem is, the Camaro LM and GT40 LM are not real cars (unless you're talking about the 1969 GT40 race car). I'd prefer we kept it to the C5-R and the GTS-R just because of the real-life classic battles those cars have had at LeMans and all the other American LeMans tracks and FIA GT tracks throughout the world for the past 5 years. I know the 'ring' has already been raced once so far back on week 6 or 7, but I'd love to see this combiniation come up sometime soon in the 'not-to-distant-future' if possible!

Regarding Laguna...

I don't like being told what I will or should do... If I'm going to pick Laguna, I will do it on my own will.
Remember, trying to force something just makes it less likely to happen (applies better to women than racing ).
CFM might be more lenient but there's a chance he doesn't like being told what he will do either.

So thanks VEXD, I much appreciate your "don't get ahead of yourself" comment.

That said, I can say for sure that Laguna is going to be used sooner or later.
Problem is, some people just don't like it that much because of the modifications to the track (compared to gt3).
However, easy tracks are not the heart of this racing series.

My week is just about over now so there is no need to worry about my thoughts... atleast for another week or so.

Still, that doesn't mean CFM is going to ignore this thread so keep the suggestions rolling in for his sake.

Whoa, dude! The interceptor is a FABULOUS car!

Telescoping shocks, have you run this thing at the High Speed Ring? It stays LEVEL, as in parallel to the ground when going around a banked corner - you can't deny how cool that is...

And it's a custom made hand built car, not some production line blah blah blah.

I might be crazy, but I know a bad @ss car when I see one - seriously, this thing would make for a killer race at the High Speed Ring

Something different...All we do everyweek is go around a track in a car, or a choice of cars, but their is always a car so much better then the rest it's not worth choosing. Sometimes we may tune, or set up or have to overtake. But we never do anything different!

That's why I suggested the Interceptor, one car make/model period. Maybe not GT mode where the sky's the limit on Tuning, but it is only one car, no other makes or models to pick from.

As for doing something different, well...that's gonna be kinda hard to do as there isn't that much of a 'style' variety in the game. It *IS* "go around a 'track' in the/a 'car/s'." The reverse gear thing is about the only wrench you can throw into this.

Maybe if the Mods were to pick a car for GT Mode and post a specific Setup (i.e., final gear = x.xxx and so on) so that you CAN'T get out of 2nd gear or something crazy like that - or force the use of dirt tires on tarmac, but it would have to be really extreme to get away from "going around a track in a car"...that's what GT is all about eh?

They've even already got a seperate Weekly Drag Race series going on (which I need to prep for if I'm going to get into that tourney, though with my week falling apart on me, I've barely found time for WRS this week despite my desire...) so Drag Racing is out (or is it?)

F1's on ice? (not allowed unfortunately)

This is only my 2nd week, but I don't care what car/track they pick really - for me, it's just another 'race' that I haven't done yet in the 'game' cause PD didn't include it, so we as a community are creating them for ourselves.

The problem with the F1 is that not everyone has the F1, and it's not like it's the easiest thing to get. But a fully tuned F1 race with NO AIDS, would make things interesting. (I'd also like to see a race with the model T ford, but even less people have that...)

The problem with Drag racing is it is pretty much just tuning. And soon enough everyone will have the same settings and have exactly the same times. And Drag racing is boring.

I was thinking while I was mucking around today. About maybe a 'push-the-car-around-race', where you either:

A - Enter a -10 AI race where there is only two cars, and get you and the other car around the track as fast as you can.

B - Make a two player race and just push the non controlled car around in the quickest time.

No offence to the makers of the races, but lately I'm not finding these things fun anymore. I just am getting angry about it because I can't do a simple thing like beat my times. It's not like I have never driven a standard production car around a pretty standard track before.

If we are just going to race, why not choose one of the snow tracks? Personally I think the snow tracks are awesome fun. Maybe in the 2CV? or Interceptor?

How about a race where we can ride the walls, take shortcuts and put all the wheels in the dirt. Use one of the rally cars and let people take any line around the track they want.

how about the mazda 6 race car at midfield, i know we just used mazdas but the 6 touring car is sweet as and we haven't done midfield raceway yet (at least not to my knowledge) try it and see its rad.

You have already listened to me (Thanks guys 👍 ) so i wont be expecting this to be taken on but, how about motorsport land with an elise vs ZZ-S vs opel speedster (VX220) in arcade mode, you can do a bit of prep and using the + and - of weight and power you could make them as equal as you can. Dont go on a pwr as we know thats not a real indicator. I know something like this would take some work but i belive having 3 - 4 cars equal as possible will make it lots of fun. Now you guys share the workload you have 2 weeks to come up with a combo, plenty of time for a bit of testing.

@Casio - Well, I figure anyone insane enough to devote as much time to GT4 as WRS requires (for the most part) has been insane/dedicated enough to get the F1, unfortunately I'm not good enough to get the Model T......yet!

And I did mention that Drag Racing now has it's own weekly series, but it's not just tuning, it is about shift points and getting a good launch, punching the N2O at the right time - but since it has it's own Weekly series, prolly not much call for it in WRS, but it would change things up here a bit since folks seem to think driving around a track has gotten boring

As far as 'anything goes' (walls, dirt, whatever) that's not what OLR is about IMHO, I really like the idea of 'driving properly' - THAT is what's hard .

I should have made it clear (or even stated it if I didn't) but I already did a WRS archive scan to find and record the history of the gt4 wrs.

3 words: BRITISH RACING GREEN

For cars: I'd love to see some Aston's soon. 3 are available in arcade mode (so no one has to spend money), and if you set tuning limits, say max 500 hp, min weight 1650 kg, they even out pretty well. Could probably get a good battle going between the DB9 and the Vanquish.

As for tracks, if we're looking for something not done, I vote for Midfield, Autumn Ring, one of the Paris tracks, or maybe Seattle. Oh, and since I missed, I don't think anyone would mind doing the 'Ring again
