I'm optimistic that Sarthe I will be better AI wise, as they wont be able to draft into a big messy pack along the Mulsanne, the chicanes should keep em a little more spaced out & manageable. Also my car hit the limiter (about 288kp/h in the draft, about 283kp/h was max speed on my own) around the first chicane so it'll be nice not having to watch the speedometre next round.

@ above I post my best time no matter what, like I said if my best time of the three has a massive collision but is still the fastest, that's the one I post. Thankfully cleaner is normally quicker, and my time for this week was clean enough, because with Sarthe II it was either push or be pushed around.

I really wasn't paying attention last week and didn't realise that the points system had changed!

Woohoo. I'm winning.

Sorry! Now onto Sarthe I. I had essentially the same lineup as before except that the RUF had been replaced by another Benz. These opponents played dirty again like last time, but this time I was expecting it.

Also like last time, I failed to finish two of my attempts. On my first run I was doing well up until Maison Blanche where the Viper pushed me onto the grass and I lost control smashing into the wall. There followed a few hours in the medical room being checked over while the mechanics rebuilt the right hand side of my car.

The next time out, approaching La Florandiere Chicane I was suddenly passed by the Aston Martin who then pulled right in front of me and hit the brakes. I piled into the back of him, and the TVR piled into the back of me! Needless to say, the race was red flagged, and my car rebuilt again.

Third and final chance, and again there was a brown trouser moment. After cleanly passing the two Benz' through Dunlop and the Esses I gave the Viper a slight tap exiting Tertre Rouge. I then followed him and the other two towards L'Arche Chicane, where distracted by a fast approaching Benz in my mirror I failed to notice the brake lights ahead. Looking forwards again I had to take evasive action, sliding through the dust and tapping the armco on the left. Somehow I held it, and even successfully navigated the chicane, but I came very close to binning all three attempts.

The rest of the race was pretty uneventful - except for my cutting the entry to the Ford Chicane on Lap 2, and I've gotta go see the stewards about that now...

My time for Sarthe I is in.

New Parts for this race-
Oil Change: 50cr (sorry BH21 forgot to mention that in PM)

It seems I guessed correctly Sarthe I was way better than Sarthe II, in fact I only did 1 run and wasn't tempted to try another, which is a first for me.

This time I was faced with the following Group of opponents, RUF RGT '00, Callaway C12, TVR Cerbera Speed 6, TVR Tuscan & Dodge Viper GTS '99.

Race Report.
I overtake the Viper exiting Tetre Rouge and jump in behind the TVR Tuscan along the first part the the Mulsanne, and exiting the first chicane I repeat that for the second stretch as well.
The Tuscan and the C12 then rub each other up a bit exiting the 2nd chicane which allows me to drive right by both of them and into the draft of the 2nd placed TVR Cerbera for the drag down to the Mulsanne Hairpin.
It all gets very close coming into that corner, the C12, Tuscan and GTS are behind me all in each others draft, entering the Mulsanne Hairpin I let the C12 take the inside, and try to move far enough to the right to let the Tuscan past as well but its not far enough, and he rear ends me, which sends me into the rear end of the Cerbera.
Then the GTS joins in by then rear ending the Tuscan, which results in another (though softer) bump from behind from the Tuscan yet again.
However I exit the corner right behind the Cerbera and draft along and then pass it into Indianapolis, which puts me 2nd and 3 seconds down on the leading RUF RGT.
I push hard and have the gap under a second coming over the start line, and I get past it on the run into Tetre Rouge.
It drafts up to me I let it by, and then jump in behind it, only to duck then duck out and pass under brakes for the 1st chicane.
I then repeat that again for the second section of the Mulsanne, only I stay behind for the 2nd chicane and just follow it down to the Mulsanne Hairpin.
get a poor exit out of the Hairpin and only just maintain the draft, which means I'm not close enough to get by at Indianapolis, so I have to follow it through there and Arnage as well.
I then don't get close enough to overtake into the Porsche curves, so it is only under brakes for the Ford chicanes where I take the lead for good to win the race by just over a second.

That was all on my first run, which I think that went pretty well, I could probably go a bit faster and overtake the RGT earlier, but then I'd lose the benefits of drafting it, so I figure that will do and submit my time.

Sorry for taking so long.

At Sarthe I got really angry - first time I got off the track twice in the same place before Indianapolis, but completed the race, no worries - I have 2 more attempts. Second time a porsche slammed into me just before the second chicane and a wall was the last thing I saw. Then it was time to start worrying - the last attempt left. And so I thought I will make two perfect laps - around 51% succeeded - after the first 'perfect' lap a Viper once again finished my race by sending me onto the sand with couple 360 turns. So my final time was the first one. I am disappoint.

The 'Ring... Yeah... After this season I'll set my Toyota on fire.

Wow, I'm doing something similar to my Subie, I'm going to drown mine and then freeze it, and then bomb it until it no longer ceases to exist

Just Skython11 left for Sarthe I. Car-less, Shotamagee, Skython11 left for Nurburgring then the season is done.

So Skython11 from your story in the magazine, can I take it your DNF for the last two tracks as well. That is since your in the hospital in the story. ** It was.**

Having had my Skyline repeatedly smashed up at Sarthe, I didn't want to risk my luck at "the green hell" by running it in a wreck. So I junked the car and took my remaining funds to the friendly local used Nissan dealer where I bought myself a Z-car;

Car: Nissan 300ZX 2-Seater (Z32) '89
Drive Train: FR
HP: 279
Price: 13,824 (+50 = 13,874)
Oil Change (Y/N): Y

The first run I drove at about eight tenths to get a feel for my new wheels, and to size up the competition. I still managed to beat them all though, finishing around 6 seconds ahead of the next car.

The second run I got a bad start, and then a massive fright as a black cat jumped in front of me at Schwedenkreuz and I went off bouncing across the grass. I stopped to calm my nerves and to feed the hungry kitty before returning to the start for my final attempt.

This time I got a flying start and nudged my way past the NSX before Hatzenbach. I then darted cleanly past the remaining Skyline, Lancer Evo's and the strange little GSX-R/4 before I got to the point of my previous fright. There then followed about 24 miles of empty country road where I could just put my foot down and enjoy the scenery.

This time I finished at least 20 seconds ahead. Probably not fast enough for a podium this time around, but I only need 3 points to be sure of winning the season!

I copy exactly what Grumpy said

And as expected, I AM THE MEDIUM!!!! Go me :)

And as I didn't expect, Car-less took the lead, good work

Congrats Car-less for being the series 1 champ and also to everyone else who took part.

Edit: I just re-ran the week one car test's again in my souped up Rx-7 to see how they compared to the stock MX-5's times.

400m
Mx-5: 17.677
Rx-7: 13.164
25.5% quicker

1000m
Mx-5: 31.994
Rx-7: 23.520
26.5% quicker

Top Speed
Mx-5: 132.10 mph
Rx-7: 175.8 mph
33.0% quicker
