Myself, @IfAndOr, @LexLathor, @eran0004, and @Flaco13, can go over the replay to see what really happened. I'll PM Sick and see what he thinks of it after I watch it a few times.
I'll accept the penalty, if needed.

I sent a PM to @buybon355 and @bloodyboyblue .

Every. Single. Race. Harsk. I'll do one more round, if no improvement in your driving standards I'm out too. Too see a hard fought clean fight watch the replay of race one with me eran and bbb. That's why I come to race with people I can trust to go along side with. We all make mistakes, but most of us realise we are not racing the AI but actual human beings.
Yes, it was a mistake of mine, mate. I'm very sorry.
But when Paul told me that the race isn't won already at first corner, there was some chaos on the 1st corner. Who wants to win the race at 1st corner? :( That chaos made me angry.

I have sent you a PM about the incident.

Race #1, Lap 2, Incident 1.
My evaluation and observation

Harsk went out wide, buybon was inside.

When Harsk tried to get out of the first turn, it seems like buybon was still going straight and in a way cut-off Harsk unintentionally. Harsk had a lot of tire spin as did Buybon.

As buybon tried to get away from Harsk and the wall Harsk's tire spin caused his car to clip Buybon's rear bumper sending him into the wall. At that point, Harsk was already back at full throttle.

Race #2 Start.

@Harsk100 it did look like you intentionally blocked Bloody at the beginning. That wasn't very hard to spot.

Race #2 Lap 1 Turn 1 Incident.

@buybon355 you came in very aggressive and forced yourself inside of Harsk which caused Harsk to slide out into Flaco and IfAndOr. Causing those two to hit the wall.

Harsk, having trouble gaining back traction then was Unintentionally clipped in the rear by @bloodyboyblue who really had no time to adjust his line. So no foul play here really.

Race #2 Lap 2 Turn 3 Incident.

Simple, Harsk you gotta find a better braking point. That was a terrible divebomb and bad decision to try and go inside of @buybon355. You should always go outside of them to respect their driving line. You, went inside and had an insurmountable amount of speed coming down that hill, you braking late sent you and @buybon355 straight toward the barrier. Only thing is, buybon took more of the hit as his whole turned to the right.

Still Reviewing replays. Standby......

Race report

Nice to be back! In short, tonight was all about: No HUD, no ABS, no setup, no practice, no points  (but great fun!)

Race ½.
Aborted due to evil gnomes stealing the sun only seconds after the start of the race and leaving the world in permanent darkness.

Race 1.
Having spent almost all my GT6 time this week with the course maker, I didn't have very high expectations for this round. So my goal for tonight was to simply have fun and hopefully not be too far behind. Since I didn't have any expectations for a great position or anything I decided to make the race more interesting by turning off the ABS and the HUD. As a result, the GTO became more alive, more fun to drive! It was no longer just the same old understeering walrus it used to be. To make it better, in the first race I got to hang out with team Shelby - very nice and close racing guys 👍
I believe I finished 13th.

Race 2.
Same as above, only just before the race started I quickly exited to switch off the nametags above everyones' cars. Managed to get back just in time! The start was a bit more chaotic, the hairpin got messy and I lost the contact with the cars in front of me. There was an incident after a few laps though that allowed me to catch up with a handful of cars. Unfortunately me and Flaco ended up side by side at the most narrow section of the track (after the first hairpin) and... well... he didn't make it. May his GTO rest in peace :(
I finished 14th in the end.

Race 3.
The transition from FR to MR is always a nice one. I guess my gearing was a bit on the tall side for this track though (still using the Le Mans setup) and the GT40 isn't the most powerful car at the lower revs... But there seemed to be a lot of incidents, which allowed me to grab some positions and in the end I think I finished 9th.

Edit: Oh, and a friendly reminder to everyone! Sometimes there may be situations where you want to slow down for some reason and let other cars pass. Please press the start button when you do that, so that you turn into a ghost rather than an unexpected obstacle. Thank you :)

No worries, it miraculously restored itself after a couple of seconds, must be the evil gnomes good cousins I have as a pit crew!

Although I qualified quite well (5th I think), I'm glad Race ½ went pear shaped. I made a dreadful false start - my foot slipped off the clutch!

In race 1 proper I didn't qualify so started from the back of the grid and I reverted to a normal non clutch start. It was just as fast.
Not a bad race, I moved up through the field until I got stuck behind Harsk who was defending his position!

In race 2 I got caught up in the first corner incident and dropped to the back of the pack. Again I eventually made up a few positions and finished somewhere mid pack.

In race 3 I got a decent start and made up a few places, then Miki's "restart" message flashed up so I slowed down. The cars I'd got past overtook me again so I accelerated once more only to read Miki's second message and lost concentration. I parked up then returned to the pits when it was clear.
(Since I forgot to save the replay, does anyone know why he wanted a restart?)

@Sutsagrd you did OK considering you'd only just joined at the last moment. 👍
And it is a tricky circuit. It might be better run in reverse since the first corner always causes trouble.

I think the GT 40 has grown on me, the first two races went well even with only the half-an-hour practice in the room. But the XJ13 likes to step out when accelerating out of a corner and i feel not really confident in the car. That and a messed up start with penalty send me to the back of the pack. Midway into the race i had a disturbance in the matrix and had to leave early -- sorry for that. :ouch: Big Fun altogether thanks to the full grid! :)👍

It might be better run in reverse since the first corner always causes trouble.

But think about the chicane in the reverse version, a guaranty for even more trouble...

I'm only a reserve but I've read several times that @Sick Cylinder instructs us all to keep conversations like this out of the thread. 👍

Yes - You are right, this thread is our window to the world - our way of keeping current racers informed and attracting new racers - any race incidents or complaints should be reported privately, preferably after a nights sleep first - they will be considered by the Deputy Hosts / Stewards and a decision and or guidance issued after the replays have been checked.

Exactly. My car had oversteer while cornering, so I had to control the car so my race wouldn't be spoiled. There was a lot of confusion at 1st corner. Who wants to win the race at 1st corner? :(

Race #2 Start.

@Harsk100 it did look like you intentionally blocked Bloody at the beginning. That wasn't very hard to spot.
I didn't mean of wanting too. Bloodyboy blue had an better start than me.

Race #2 Lap 1 Turn 1 Incident.

Yes, exactly. From my view, Buybon has divebombed on me which made me almost spin and nearly coliding with Flaco and IfAndOr.

Well, because Buybon divebombed on me, then I did it back to him, so I could make justice... And when I did that, I was aware that it was my fault. I'm very very sorry.

@Harsk100 - see the post from Sick above yours! Although in all fairness you were probably writing yours when Sick posted his.

But think about the chicane in the reverse version, a guaranty for even more trouble...
This is true and you're probably approaching it faster. But it's more of a quick left and right where the other is nearly a 180 turn. Swings and roundabouts I suppose - and there are some roundabouts at Madrid. :)

I always approach most first corners with the thought "There maybe trouble ahead". They are prophetic words usually.

@Harsk100 and all other Racers please refer to my post above and refrain from posting complaints about other people's driving on this thread. Race incidents should be reported to me or to the Deputy Hosts - we will consider them and comment later.

The Deputy Hosts / Stewards are: @LexLathor @IfAndOr @Flaco13 @Manasseh257NSX @eran0004

Sorry Paul.

I think it's not so much the angle, but the bottleneck. When the track gets narrower it gets dangerous.:scared:

Hehe, so true! I had my fair share of trouble in races long gone, and now try to adhere to OLR section 9C:

OLR 9C
Your goal on turn 1 should not be to get to the front, but rather to convert a double wide start field to a single file running order. Look ahead more than one car. Due to field compression, a compact field will run slower through the first few turns than a spread out one. Leave some extra space, but not too much. Drivers behind you won't be expecting sudden braking.

Easier said than done, there is a link to a nice video about turn 1 in the Good Racecraft Guide:

The gist: expect the unexpected!

Great pictures John. I particularly like the first one. ;)
And you've got it cracked - no doubles. 👍

Nice video Tarn, very informative. It seems I need to calm my mind and relax my body while looking out for someone playing the accordion. I think that's what he said.

If PD allowed us to have a rolling start on every track it would go some way into preventing 1st corner incidents during on-line races. Although it didn't work in Harsk's video!

Important Note for all Racers

There were too many racing incidents during Round 3. We must all endeavour to drive cleanly and with respect for each other. It is inevitable that from time to time drivers will make mistakes and there may be some contact. Try to minimise contact by being extra careful at the start and during the opening laps when the field is tightly bunched. Retaliation in response to contact must be avoided. I hope that we continue to enjoy a popular series with full rooms, but with less incidents and more respect shown on track.

Race incidents should not be reported on this thread. If an incident occurs which you think is sufficiently serious that it merits further analysis please report it privately to me or one of the five Deputy Hosts / Stewards. We will consider the matter and respond as appropriate.

Next Round 4 from Deep Forest

And on that topic, I would like to remind everyone about the priorities when we're racing together:

  1. Stay fair.
Anything can happen on a racetrack. The first priority is to not take an unfair advantage of it. If you cause an incident, wether it's by mistake or on purpose (let's hope it's not on purpose), don't use it to your advantage. For instance, if you bump the car in front of you, back off until he has recovered from it.

  2. Stay clean.
Accidents do happen, but it's important to minimize the risk. If there is a car in front of you, you need to adapt your pace. You can not use your regular braking points, you can not use your regular cornering speed, you can not use your regular lines. Until there is an opportunity to overtake, your pace will be the pace of the car in front of you.

  3. Stay fast.
Once you've ticked the boxes of the two above, you can focus on winning the race :)
Basically: Fair racing is more fun than clean racing and fast racing. Clean racing is more fun than fast racing. Fast racing is just fun ;)
