As I'm sure you guessed, Omnis, it's not that there isn't anyone on -- I believe it's that the servers are too overworked to hook you up with anyone. One easy solution would be for you to edit the first post and start taking in people's friend codes...I'm surprised no one has shared yet.

I often have the same problems you guys are talking about with "With Anyone," but I've managed to get plenty of matches in, too. All I can say is keep trying.

Anyway, this game is great. It's so frenetic and fun.
Look at me still talking when there's brawling to do.

Oh, right! I'm going to reformat that entire thing.

Did you guys know that SSBB is the first Dual-layer Wii game?

I haven't gotten my copy yet. Has anyone tried the Classic Controller option? I am just wondering if that will work or if I should try to find a used Wavebird at GameStop.

I've played all controller configurations and the Gamecube controller is the best by far.

Just make sure to disable jump on the left control stick. Use buttons for jump because the left stick is very touchy and often you jump when you don't mean to.

I didn't even know there was one for N64! I heard nothing but good things about the GameCube version though. I never touched it, because I still only play Street Fighter. Ryu all the way!

You play street fighter? I do too! I even have the "Street Fighter alpha anthology" for PS2!

Finally Canadapost sent me my copy after a 2 day delay...I'm in love with this game...and i think i may need to buy some GCN controllers as im using hte nunchuk and wiimote combo..

Played this with my friend, using his old GC controllers and it is alot of fun, we put it on fast mode just to make it a little more intense. Really enjoyed it but when we tried to go online we couldn't find any people to play, however, we could spectate other matches, just noone was joining our matches. One thing I was wondering is howcome you can't play multiplayer online, like multiple people from each wii?

As I told Omnis, I believe it's server overload. They can't match up so many people all at once.

You can, in "With Friends."

Well, Nintendo has confirmed that the error code often given means that basically the server has been overloaded and it may be due to you using a new game or product. AKA, "You're playing Smash Brothers, aren't you?"

Spectator mode works pretty well and directly connecting with friends works decently, but just playing randomly is overloading the servers.

I have to say that between the code system, their unpreparedness for the server load, and their pricing scheme on many VC games is making me think Nintendo's initial attempt in online console gaming isn't up to their usual quality.

I hope once they get their server capacity going that I will be proven wrong. Based on typical Nintendo quality I imagine a working online system from them would have great quality.

I still don't like the codes, especially since each game seems to be requiring separate codes.

@Rumple: I jumped around a lot and used the B+Up move to keep the Pikmin away from the CPU players.

Spectator mode works pretty well...
It ought to without much trouble. All it does is download and play a replay. No live coverage.

No, your pikmin aren't what you need to guard. You need to guard those robot spider-looking things that seed pikmin like in the video game. Otherwise, just knock the characters off the map until you get a success.

anyone beat the subspace adventure thing yet???? Cause im having difficulty in the first level when you enter one of those blackhole things...

I beat the Subspace Emissary on Sunday. Took me about seven hours. What's giving you trouble?

Well, my game is coming in from Gamefly. It shipped yesterday. The Keep It price is $38.99, and I have a $5 coupon, so if I buy it I will save $16 off of MSRP. And as it wasn't available for rental until Tuesday I doubt anyone had time to rent it and ship it back within 36 hours, so it shoudl be a new disc. It was worth a one week wait.

Now, watch my laser not read it correctly.

Ive been playing on WiFi very sucessfully. Sometimes you just have to practice brawl until it puts you in a room with other people. I have only been sucessful at getting into 1v1v1v1 matches, not any 2v2 randoms yet.

By far my favorite character is King Dedede. I have yet to unlock any of the new ones yet but Im sure I will get around to it. So far I have been very satisfied.

If that happens and blowing compressed air into the slot doesn't work, I've heard Nintendo will fix it for you.

It seems to be getting better. I'm having a lot more luck now -- in fact, I'm on "With Anyone" at this very moment.

Yeah, I'm liking DeDeDe and Meta Knight a lot more than I had originally expected. DeDeDe is my favorite heavy.

Well...im stuck on the great maze level...i seem to enter all hte portals but no cinematics to clarify i reached the end...Plus when i save the file im at like 69% of the game... Am i missing some stuff??

Look for all the portals with dark aura around them and enter them to defeat all the characters' doppelgangers. When you've beaten most of them, you'll see little flashing monster-faces on the map to tell you where the rest are. Afterwards, head to the center room where the last unconnected dot is. If you've already been to it, it's the one where Tabuu and the characters are.

You'll then have to fight Tabuu who's harder than a mug. I suggest taking heavy hitters and aerial fighters.

Guys, I am just baffled by how much better Toon Link is than Link. He jumps like twice as high and is just mega awesome.

I'm still just messing around. Got my GCN controller and it just feels so much better playing this versus the nun-chuck and wiimote combo.

31% done with the Subspace game, have a few characters unlocked. Its Melee, just with more win.

I stopped playing allready. I am so not impressed with this game that it isn't even funny. I loved Smash Bros. on the N64, and the Gamecube one was good too, but I just dont get it with this game.

Some of the level designs are so bad that I cancle out of fights just so that I don't have to play that map. (The DK Map 75M, the Electroplankton map, the waterfall map, mushroom kingdom map,...)

Controls that were so bad that it forced me to go out and buy a Gamecube controller just so that I could be competitive. I saw in an interview that they designed this game and optimized it for the Gamecube controller. WTF is that!?

Unimpressive graphics. Also, on the Battlefield map there is graphical issues for me where there are little flickering black patches in the background that look absolutely horrible.

Online sucks and blows hard.

-There is no stat tracking.

-The play with anyone option doesn't let you pick your opponents. A lobby would be nice where you could chat and pick who you'd fight.

-There is no skill ratings for anyone. Online usualy is ridiculously easy opponents, or ridiculously tough.

-No planned DL content. Period. Just a couple crappy maps every now and then, which you cant even save to your console.

This one will sit in the pile of games I don't play, right next to Paper Mario, as over-hyped mediocrity.

The number one complaint about a lot of proper Wii games has been that there are no non Wiimote controls. That is my biggest issue about SMG.

Waggle doesn't work for everything and gamers have said so. Nintendo responded to what the customer wanted and now we have a customer complaining about it.

You can't make everyone happy I guess.

Personally, I'm glad as after a marathon run to finish SMG my wrists were getting a bit sore.

As for all your other complaints I will have to wait and see as I am still waiting for it to come in.
