Should we all turn off our mics before race start?

I'm going to sit this one out. I'm not really into nascar, bump drafting, calling cautions, etc. I could use a break anyway. Have fun.

I can't imagine a race with out you. How about joining us for a couple practice races during the week. Then deciding to sit out or not.

Yeah I feel the same. You should be there.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. But, I can't imagine things will be too much different without me, except for the fact DJ, Brett and ITOSS will move up a spot. HaHa. I've got a lot going on this week, but should be able to go next week.

ouch!

right I'm all set for my pace car duties this week, doesn't look like I'm gonna get any practice time in with you online, so rather than upsetting countless people with my piss poor driving I'll just watch you all fly by me every 40 seconds or so.

I've actually managed to tune out the nascars tendancy to spit me off the track halfway through the bends and its running really stable now even without downforce, this is quite an achievement for me since my tuning is rubbish and I usually just make the car worse and end up back at the default tune (with a bit of suspension stiffening thrown in), I managed a 42.659 in my lounge on my own which seems pretty good to me.

I forgot to mention something very disappointing I found out with the pace car, the damn lights don't work (I'm sure they did in GT4), I tried all the buttons but nothing.

should still look good tho having a real pace car on the track, assuming I make it on track at some point :)

Darn lol. i wanted the cars.

You rock. I asked you the same time another league member confirmed. Thanks for your prompt response. I'll send you a car for your trouble tonight.

In order to promote a fun and fair race we are going to implement some “Lounge Rules” for the upcoming NASCAR event. A bad wreck could really separate us and make a long, lonely, and ultimately boring race for someone. Using the following rules, this can be anybodies race and keeping the race packs close could help someone get their first win of the season.

Caution:

In the event that a racer does one of the following a Caution alert will be spoken and typed.

  • A car wrecks and ends up backwards on the track for any length of time.
  • A car wrecks and ends up off track
  • Multiple cars wreck and end up backwards or off track
  • A car is punted into a wall through no fault of his own and is consequently stuck on the wall.
  • A car gets below the yellow line and spins out in the infield or grass.

The above list is generally any accidental ways in which a car is unable to keep speed or recover. Only the above listed items will be grounds to call a Caution.

If you get “loose” but save yourself, rub sides with a few other racers, get “loose” and lose the draft, ride to high and grind a wall BUT you manage to recover (IE do not lose control) then you cannot call a Caution.

When a Caution is called all racers are to slow down enough to pick up the pace car, which will enter the track from the area after pit road.

We will maintain a pace of 60 mph and run 1 lap under caution. Feel free to pit at this time especially if you were part of a wreck or spin out but please not that you lose your track position and must restart at the end of the field.

We are depending on the honor system to maintain track position integrity so when a Caution is called, please not who's in front and behind you and line up accordingly.

We are going to use the double file restart 2x2. After a Caution is called xROADRASHx willl let everyone know 1 lap till we go green. We will lap until pace car can enter the pit after leading the field in double file start, then xROADRASHx will call “ready, ready, ready Green!”

On lap 58 you will no longer be able to call a Caution for any reason since GT5 won't let us have a green, white, checker.

If your in an incident or see an incident happen, call Caution. (This is for those who don’t have mics and won’t be able to call a Caution).

Yellow Line Rule:

No passing whatsoever below the yellow line.

If you go below the line and pass you should give the spot back. This is likely going to be hard to enforce so we are counting on all the racers to use the Honor System. Any racers that are caught passing below the yellow line without giving the position back during replay will be DQ’ed.

Cars are allowed to drive beneath the yellow line though, as long as you are not advancing your position.

Bump Draft Courtesy:

Bump drafting in a turn easily turns into a “pit maneuver” so please follow the following rules:

  • Do not bump draft in any part of a turn unless you are positive you can pull it off AND have a working relationship with the person you are bump drafting.
  • Do not bump draft beyond ¾’s of the straight unless you have a working relationship with the other racer. Both you and the other racer will need time to brake/lift and neither will be able to while in the middle of a bump draft.
  • Watch your speedometer closely instead of your RPM or visual braking/lifting markers. When bump drafting at Daytona you can easily go up to 10 mph faster or more into a turn and your car will not handle the same at those speeds.

Remember,

  • Anyone can call caution as we won't have an official to monitor the race
  • Any car/cars involved in the wreck are to rejoin the field and take position were you rejoin the field, not the position you had before the wreck
  • If a car is involved in a wreck ( and everyone probably will be at some point). You are to re enter the track and catch up with the rest of the field get in line
  • A caution will be called if there is wreck and a car or cars go off track, if someone hits the wall and loses the draft no caution will be called.
  • We will use double file restarts 2x2, "shoot out style".

Thanks for the races last night guys, I underestimated how much fun this race would be having based my decision on how dull/easy the a-spec nascar races were, oh well it will certainly open the championship right up to the final race 👍

I'll drive the pace car if you want. I'm not really wanting to do this race anyway, and I'm free that night. I can get with someone to go over the details almost any night this week.

I strongly suggest you reconsider, I thought driving around in a circle would be a snooze fest, it's actually quite fun when racing with real people. ;)

DJ great job on the "rules". Is there any way you can e-mail them tothe members. I think some people might not read or haven't read these forums in a while. Also we should call everyone off track when you reset the track and go over them one more time.

One more very important thing that I noticed last night.....If two or more cars are in a turn side by side (2wide) drivers must try as best as possible to hold there line and not go up or down the track. Know where you are in space and time, click the side veiw if you think someone is next to you. This will eliminate alot of wrecked race cars

I found it hard enough with a wheel, appreciate those with DS3 will find it even harder ;)

Umm.. I guess I should check my e-mail before I post next time.....my bad
Thanks DJ

what happens if say 4th and 5th place are going through a turn and 5th catches the rear of 4th causing 4th to wreck but 5th survives, 4th place will then find themselves at the back of the pack after the caution whilst the 5th place guy gained 4th, is that just tough luck for the 4th place guy who is now at the back and 5th gets away with gaining the position?

Based on our races last night I think 60 laps is going to take a VERY long time to run.

That happened to me in a sprint the other night. Spun out by someone trying to squeeze 3 wide in a turn. I went to the back of the pack for the caution while the bumper stayed in his position. It was late in the race and I never regained my spot. That's why there's fistfights in the pits in real NASCAR. Boys will be boys!

Heck, a driver who's running off the pace could get in an "accident" to get back to the lead pack on caution.

Correct.

I sent an email blast to all the members who are registered on our website, supertunercar.webs.com.

Any members that race with us but are not members will not get the email. Snoopykuan comes to mind in that scenario.

I'm all for calling people off track for track reset and going over the rules but I think someone with a better headset than me should do it. You guys know my issue with headsets.

RE: Wrecks and fist fights. Things are gonna happen in this race. The best way to look at this race is to not worry about winning and just concentrate on having fun. Some of us don't have wheels so its very hard to maintain a line while (especially while being bump drafted) so if contact happens try to laugh it off.

I don't want unnecessary wrecking though. Make sure everybody does there best to drive clean. There will be plenty of accidental wrecks, no need to make it worse LOL.

we could type it in because some peope can't hear..the best thing to do is have fun with this race. anyone taking it too serious is going to be disapointed. know who's around you and communicate with each other. as i've said before this is anyones race so be patient

If you use a headset do you only hear other's chat or does the game audio come thru the speakers too?

I can't hear much thru my tv speakers over the engine noise in these cars. Sorry my communication has sucked, between feeling deaf and my primitive texting skills, I've been kinda out of it.

you only hear chat no game sounds come through headset. Any blue tooth head set will work, I'm using a cheap Minolta headset that I got with one of my cell phones. Just need to pair it up in the XBM menu and then your good to go

is anybody else subscribed to this thread and not receiving emails? I used to get an email whenever a new post popped up but haven't been getting them since last night.
