In order to promote a fun and fair race we are going to implement some Lounge Rules for the upcoming NASCAR event. A bad wreck could really separate us and make a long, lonely, and ultimately boring race for someone. Using the following rules, this can be anybodies race and keeping the race packs close could help someone get their first win of the season.
Caution:
In the event that a racer does one of the following a Caution alert will be spoken and typed.
- A car wrecks and ends up backwards on the track for any length of time.
- A car wrecks and ends up off track
- Multiple cars wreck and end up backwards or off track
- A car is punted into a wall through no fault of his own and is consequently stuck on the wall.
- A car gets below the yellow line and spins out in the infield or grass.
The above list is generally any accidental ways in which a car is unable to keep speed or recover. Only the above listed items will be grounds to call a Caution.
If you get loose but save yourself, rub sides with a few other racers, get loose and lose the draft, ride to high and grind a wall BUT you manage to recover (IE do not lose control) then you cannot call a Caution.
When a Caution is called all racers are to slow down enough to pick up the pace car, which will enter the track from the area after pit road.
We will maintain a pace of 60 mph and run 1 lap under caution. Feel free to pit at this time especially if you were part of a wreck or spin out but please not that you lose your track position and must restart at the end of the field.
We are depending on the honor system to maintain track position integrity so when a Caution is called, please not who's in front and behind you and line up accordingly.
We are going to use the double file restart 2x2. After a Caution is called xROADRASHx willl let everyone know 1 lap till we go green. We will lap until pace car can enter the pit after leading the field in double file start, then xROADRASHx will call ready, ready, ready Green!
On lap 58 you will no longer be able to call a Caution for any reason since GT5 won't let us have a green, white, checker.
If your in an incident or see an incident happen, call Caution. (This is for those who dont have mics and wont be able to call a Caution).
Yellow Line Rule:
No passing whatsoever below the yellow line.
If you go below the line and pass you should give the spot back. This is likely going to be hard to enforce so we are counting on all the racers to use the Honor System. Any racers that are caught passing below the yellow line without giving the position back during replay will be DQed.
Cars are allowed to drive beneath the yellow line though, as long as you are not advancing your position.
Bump Draft Courtesy:
Bump drafting in a turn easily turns into a pit maneuver so please follow the following rules:
- Do not bump draft in any part of a turn unless you are positive you can pull it off AND have a working relationship with the person you are bump drafting.
- Do not bump draft beyond ¾s of the straight unless you have a working relationship with the other racer. Both you and the other racer will need time to brake/lift and neither will be able to while in the middle of a bump draft.
- Watch your speedometer closely instead of your RPM or visual braking/lifting markers. When bump drafting at Daytona you can easily go up to 10 mph faster or more into a turn and your car will not handle the same at those speeds.
Remember,
- Anyone can call caution as we won't have an official to monitor the race
- Any car/cars involved in the wreck are to rejoin the field and take position were you rejoin the field, not the position you had before the wreck
- If a car is involved in a wreck ( and everyone probably will be at some point). You are to re enter the track and catch up with the rest of the field get in line
- A caution will be called if there is wreck and a car or cars go off track, if someone hits the wall and loses the draft no caution will be called.
- We will use double file restarts 2x2, "shoot out style".
