:gtpflag:DUN DUN DUN DUN!!!:gtpflag: (those are supposed to be blaring trumpets)

If you see my head getting fatter that's because I just won my first ever podium spot! Its not a gold or even a silver but I'll take it! It was a hard fought race and if it wasn't for that fiendish corkscrew I would never have placed.

Seriously though, thanks for an awesome race guys. That track is tricky and its easy to get into the sand or spin out and it really required all of my attention. I couldn't find a spot to relax at all.

Shout out to Grayfox as well. I followed him around for 8 laps I think. I couldn't get around him try as i might. I had a blast though and can't wait for the next race.

Speaking of the next race, if you haven't, please vote now!!! I will be closing voting tonight before I call it a night. So far it looks like we're gonna be invading Japan once again...

DJ,
Congrats on the podium finish last night!

For the Tokyo race, Dangit and I tested here and found that at 600hp limit was more competitive and equaled the cars out too. That should bring in the C5R as well. I know you asked me last night but I was kind of fried after the Laguna race. So your call but I think the hp restriction will bring a little better racing.

Hey roadrash, its your suggestion so you make the calls :) I'm fine with the hp limit. I'm wondering if we should add a weight limit. Like I said though its your call so whatever you want is a go.

Yeah DJ, good to see you up top on the podium.

More like on the bottom of the podium LOL but at least on it.

Not sure of the weight on the C5R. I know the Z06 is lighter than the ZR1, but the two were about equal as far as lap times in testing. I'll get on later and test the C5R. As of right now I don't think we need a weight limit. Also thinking around 25-28 laps. I think Logan is the math guy, but by my lack luster math skills that should give us around 45-50 minute race

Wow, that was strange. I could swear I just heard blaring trumpets. Congrats DJ for climbing up on the podium ! Man, I was trying my best to catch you, but I could not pull it off. Who would have thought that DJ would be on the podium and Logan would take the pole on the same week? I can answer that question. Nobody. Including us.

Soopamanluva has offered to switch finishing positions with me after I complained after the incident we had on the last turn of the last lap. I accept. He also punted me off the corkscrew a few laps earlier. After that incident, he did let me retake position. But we both lost quite of bit of time, which was very costly. Watching the replay, I saw him also banging with Bo and JT. I do not question Supamanluva's abilities. He is certainly quicker than I. But I find his style over aggressive. At least for this league. I'm sure I will bump just about all of you in the future. But it will be accidental, and I will feel bad. Well, that's about all I've got. I feel better.

I'm not sure if you're suggesting that the accidents I caused are deliberate, I can say that they are definitely not and I do feel bad for them, I'm just not very good at judging braking distance especially when in someones slipstream. I don't perform anywhere near my best so late at night and it does seem that every week I cause trouble, it's been an enjoyable league to be in and I thank you all for putting up with me as long as you have, I wish you all the best for the future of the league

He wasn't banging with me. I left the race on about lap 5 because someone said I was lagging. At least he gave you the position back, I got knocked off track by another of those "overly aggressive clowns" while I was leading and he just kept going, but that didn't really suprise me.

It's ok, to be honest I was gonna quit after Roadrash had a go at me last time, but then there was an opportunity to run a pace car and technically sit a race out. So I was gonna see how the touring cars went and if I upset anyone call it a day. That said what you perceive as aggressive is simply poor judgement/reactions, how alert are you at 3am? ;)

I need to find a league that is on at midnight, so I've got the TV to myself and most importantly I'm not too tired, may have to start one of my own as I haven't found one that interests me yet...

Braking points are obviously crucial in GT5/real life racing. They are the hardest points for me to judge especially taking into consideration tire wear, slipstream and respecting another racer's position. Slipstream more than anything is hardest for me to judge. I've gotten in the habit of braking earlier when behind someone else so I don't punt and loose time allowing them back on course. If I'm driving good I can keep my line and stay aggresive through the turn.

The practice sessions during the week help me more than any solo runs. Last week with logan, boshuter and jt was awesome. Logan, I hated seeing you spin out in lap1 after you'd worked so hard during the week to get such a low qualifying time. Same with boshuter, I was looking forward to having an FTO battle with you guys.

Wish we were doing the LMP's. Maybe next season? Thanks again dj and roadrash. I'm having a blast with this series.

I do the same when following someone, braking early to anticipate the other drivers braking point

yeah slipstream is a real pain to judge braking in, me and JT were having a great battle for a while in that race, but I found I was very nervous of rear ending him and either braking way too early then having to catch back up again or brake a bit too late and almost hit him, even JT broke too late coming up to the corkscrew but managed to go inside me, he still hit me onto the inside exit line which of course caused me to spin out, so I know it can happen to the best of us as well. Guess I need more practise at racing closely with others though

For me the key to racing closely with other people is patience and practice. Knowing what my car can and can't do and how it will behave on cold, warm and worn tires. I'll make a lot of long runs in practice, adjusting my braking points accordingly and make note of what lap I need to start altering my braking points. Also running sprints with 4 or 5 people helps me more than running solo laps.

Racing online is tricky business, we aren't professionals. Dangit and I have been racing together online for better than 6 years. We have just about seen it all. You learn something every race, the three most important things i've learned is patience, patience, patience.

DJ,
Didn't get to test the C5R last night, but I think we're ok just going with the 600 hp max. You might want to make an official post, as we were doing pp Friday night.

600hp limit and no PP correct?

The only positions I gained at Laguna was when a car ahead of me would go off course. I'll follow someone close enough to take advantage of a mistake but not close enough to force them off. I tapped/hit godangit a couple times I know but I made sure he didn't go off before I got back on the gas.

I'm a rookie big time at this. Only been online racing since March and this is the first and only league I've tried. I was used to the corner bashing and first corner impatience of pub lobbies. I tired of being punted and felt crappy if I accidently forced someone off myself. This group is a nice relief from that and hopefully as some of us newer guys get the patience idea down, we'll have less wrecks and more racing.

ncr, you and I are coming from the same place. Super Tuner Car League races make up about 90% of my online experience. When I first picked up GT5, I had to work up the nerve to even enter pub rooms. At first, I thought it was just about the coolest thing I had ever seen. Then, of course, I started to discover the dark side of online play and basically quit until I saw DJ's post about starting his new league. It was exactly what I was looking for and I have had a silly amount of fun since.

I am horrible at overtaking. My strategy is simply by putting the terrifying site of Logan's banged up vehicle in someone's rear-view mirror, they will come unglued and drive off the road, kindly letting me by. It's not very effective.

Thanks to everybody for the sympathy for my first lap meltdown. I did practice hard for that race with Boshuter's help. I felt badly when he felt he had to leave, because I'm certain he was the quickest. I'm always really nervous on the first lap, but it was worse this time. In the future, I'm going to give breathing and blinking a try.

Be the ball Danny, be the ball!

I sure didn't want to quit that race, I'd put in a lot of time practicing and felt I had a good shot at a decent finish. When someone said I was lagging badly I knew I needed to get out. I hate running against someone that is lagging and didn't want to mess up anyone elses race because of it.

I wish I'd stuck around and watched the rest of the race, but I was pretty frustrated by the lag problem and getting punted off track.

Look out next week though :)

Soopa punted you at the corkscrew. Next lap the lag started. If you threw 1.18's at us like you did at practice you would have been on top.

I probably should not have quit the race, but was so frustrated after experiencing that glitch in the pits that left me stranded there for several minutes, my controller mysteriously went flying across the room at an extreme velocity. But now I know what to do next time it happens, along with a new controller.

What stopped the glitch? What was the glitch like?

Went into the pits and there was no box on the screen to indicate fuel or tires being taken, just the pointer in the middle of the screen. I guess if i had just moved the pointer down like it would have been on the box to click ok.

I sure don't remember Soopa or anyone else punting me off at the corkscrew. I was in 1st place until I got punted off, but it wasn't at the corkscrew.

Can anyone upload a replay of this race so I could watch it?

That happened to me too. After the tires were installed, the car just sat there. I don't know what button I pressed, but I was finally was able to get out. Cost me several precious seconds. For the first time ever I was in 1st place for several laps and that set me back enough I never could catch back up to the leaders. Grrrr!

No.... It wouldn't even install the tires. The crew just stood around the car for a couple minutes until i finally clicked on the invisible ok button, but in the course of clicking frantically at nothing I must have changed what kind of tires that would be installed as well because it was like sliding around on ice. So i just quit out.
