Lets hope so, if Superstars V8 can compete with even FC's physics (can't say SCC, NDA beta thingy) then this is going to be an interesting year with shift and GT5 waiting to round the year off.

I'm wondering if Superstars V8 is a better option than SCC considering it's a touring car game, therefore a little different, where as SCC appears very similar to Shift.

Shift is A LOT different. I'm not in the beta for SCC (yet) but I know for a fact after playing Ferrari Challenge that Shift doesn't match the realism.

How can you know that for a fact? You haven't played SCC or shift?

There's quite a few reports regarding a demo of SV8 with weeeks to go before release we'll hopefully get our hands on it soon. Some more media would also be welcome with such a short period to release it could be seen as a negative. 2 poor quality videos which last less than a snowman in summer and a dozen or so images. I'd expect to see media start to roll out this week so we can see a little clearer whats in store.

Yeah, there hasn't been a lot of media for this game (no previews, hands-ons, or anything like that, and also very little screenshots and videos) so it would e nice for something to come across.

I stumbled accross it in the Game UK release list and basicly all the info in this thread is all there is! It sounds like it could be a class title and has simply suffered bad PR or rather lack of PR like FC did on it's release, and to be honest the black bean devs tend to put stuff out on the quiet but again you have that "if there not shouting about it, is it because it's junk" niggle at the back of your head. I'm looking at it being on par with race pro on the 360, which again had a muted release and luke warm reception although it's a class act when it comes to sim raceing. But this is all speculation as theres very little info to go on and what there is, only hints at a posible classic.
Next person to post up a "new" vid of SV8 wins +10 Kudos! New screens bags ya +2 Kudos!

They just are two different types of racing games- Shift is arcade/sim, and SC and FC is a pure racing simulator.

As it stands I wouldn't be suprised if Shift is a better simulater than GT5, nevermind SCC, if everything announced is correct, i.e Pro mode being more realistic than GTR2.

We need some onboard screens.
I think that most of want to know if there is an onboard view or maybe a bonnet/hood view.

I think this game is going to to be better than most people think.
If you watch the trailers, I would say that it is not worth buying. Looking at some of the screenshots makes it more interesting. On the other hand, there are some screenshot were the car look hazy, blurred and some screenshots shows cars that are almost photo realistic. Also some screenshots shows cars which don't look right. The ratio, proportions of the cars aren't right. You have small high cars.

If you consider all these things and that it costs €49,95 for the Xbox360/PS3 and € 29,95 for pc, I think that this is not going to be a top notch sim.

Right there are some "PR" shots which have been "cleaned" shall we say but there are also some shots which are from the in game "photo mode" (Not sure if its a photo mode but its the best way to describe it) If you look at the folowing 3 photos you'll see there from the pause / photo" mode which by the looks of it allows you to move the camera around the action.

You'll notice that there is quite a bit of detail in the "non PR" pics! Right I've looked at this a few times and I belive that there is actualy in car footage in the video...........not scrub that......theres non. First in car pic +20 Kudos!

Finaly the price, the video with the "interview with a black bean dev" if you can call it that plus some of the write ups regarding the priceing explains why they have released it at a "semi budget" price point. Firstly because it's a new franchise, secondly it is light on cars and tracks featureing only those found in the superstars V8 series. And thirdly and finaly they have a heavy DLC plan with tracks and cars ect thus the cheap price point to offset the DLC prices. This info is from various meger sources mind you, like all info on this game!
I have to say from the video the cars do seem to carry weight and solidity also theres no wild powerslides going on, push it to far and they spin off, theres also a big understeer moment. With the crashes also it's not hollywood just a tangle of cars and off

This has always been one of my biggest problems with the GTR franchise (as well as other sims). The complete inability to lose/gain traction progressively, and to sustain. Yes, this does allow for drifting, but that's not really why I bring it up. Proper tire physics are so important in a sim game, be it a racing or driving sim. Games that do tire physics well (and I use that term loosely in some cases) are LFS, Rfactor(with enough mods, and a prayer), and iRacing. When the tire code is done right, i.e sustainable and variable oversteer, it tends to come off as much more intuitive, at least to the general sim gamer, and the experience creates much more immersion, in my opinion. A real car is going to be able to over/understeer progressively, so why do some sims avoid this like it's the plague?

After viewing the vids, this game doesn't look like it's going to break any ground in the physics department.

I'm sure I'll buy it anyway. I almost always do.

;)

very light on details as usal LOL some interesting things in there though.

pros
Fast smooth and prety
sits somewhere between grid and GT
Full weekend and championships where practice and setp are vital
Weather effects
Ai is fu to race
12 player online
The handeling is good with an impresive feel of weight and power
19 cars on track single player

cons
Ai is a little simple headed
Cars are a little dead in a slide
only 10 tracks

On the whole Thats actualy a good review, considering it only has 10 mostly obscure tracks and weighs in as a £30 budget title with the car list a bit on the light side and absoloutly no hype from black bean, not to mention it's a driving "sim" meaning it's not a mainstream title. 8/10 is prety fantastic actualy!
With less than 3 weeks to release lets hope we start to see some media and black bean building on this posertive review in the official magazine!

Don't forget:

FIA World Touring Car Championship

According to many websites, it will be released december 2009.

cons

While those are pretty bad to those of us who have played F1CE and GT5P a lot, if it's anything like their motorcycle games, the AI will be enough of a challenge that you don't get bored, but it may get tedious when they start to follow the same lines like old-school GT AI.

And as for the tracks, as you stated, they're pretty obscure. Both MotoGP 08 and SBK-08 had small amounts of tracks (no more than 20 in either, I believe), but the tracks provided are ones that you don't get in other racing games. They're the tracks that we actually want to race and provide a lot of varied challenges.

they were cons brought up by the review (on previous page on this thread) not nesercerily mine, It did however say the AI was liverly and agresive......which makes up for it's weakness, plus It also says the tracks are obscure enough to keep you busy learning them.
I have to add also that one of the reasons this title is at a budget price is due to black beans intention of DLC which should add to the car and track list.

Well even if it only has 10 tracks, at least there are some very good ones.

Mugello is my favorite in Ferrari challenge, i hope it will be as good in this game as it is in FC.

Also Vallelunga, Monza, and Misano are great tracks.

The game surely looks interesting.

If it's anything like MotoGP 08 or SBK-08 (I know, I reference these a lot), then it's probably gonna end up with at least all the tracks the series actually races on, even if a few have to come in DLC.

I hadn't thought of that one, but you're probably right.

I think I'll be getting this game and hoping it keeps me busy until NFS:Shift, which in turn can keep me busy until GT5.
