Suzuka Lap Times For 640+ Cars!

Hey Suzuka, I've really admired your work here for several months now. Have you considered additionally testing any of your cars in the list using the Fully Custom Transmission Upgrade with an OPTIMIZED Max speed setting to allow the car to reach redline on the fastest straight? Or have you found that most of the stock transmissions allow your cars listed to do that at Suzuka already? I've been doing alot of testing at Brands Hatch with 50 or so default cars and have found that while some default setting cars make poor use of the factory transmission but will run as much a 1 second faster when I OPTIMIZE the tranny. Just a thought, Thanks again for your efforts here!
I certainly can't speak for SuzukaStar, but I am fairly certain ALL of the cars that he drives (the ones he lists times for) are 100% stock (Except for possibly tires. He likes to put everything on SH just so he can control that variable - tire grip). I think the entire point of his testing is to show what each vehicle in it's stock configuration can achieve.

Re-tested Opel Speedster Turbo '00

Old time - 2:26.0
New time - 2:25.6

Opel Speedster '00

Old time - 2:28.1
New time - 2:27.8 (0.006 seconds faster than the '96 Elise!)

I love the Opel Speedster. I doubt either one will be premium in GT7, but they need to be, and the Turbo needs to be re-labeled because it didn't appear until 2003.

Oo **** ... Seriously?... I started the same projekt on suzuka and now i find out that someone already did this xD ... Why did you choose suzuka? ^^ i just thought that its a track with all different kinds of corners and some straights.
At the moment i got about 54 cars. All on sport hard tires and the grip on realistic. All cars stock but just oil changed. I'm a little slower than you. Well i don't play that often (about 10 hours a month at most).

This is cool. I wish the game was able to save more than just 10 best times at a track. I don't see the point in a limit.
I couldn't agree more. Not only do I wish they kept a list of 50-100, but I also wish you could L2 or R2 and it would toggle from the All-Time Leaderboard to a car specific leaderboard. That way, when I set a decent time I can see how well I'm doing against the rest of my cars but also see if I'm improving that car's time.

I compared the first 10 or so of your times with my own and you're not far off at all. What are the odds that someone else is obsessed with testing stock cars at Suzuka in GT6? Very cool indeed. I do invest a bit more than 10 hours per month into this, probably an average of 100 hours per month, but then GT6 is the only videogame I have played since December.

Any reason why you chose to perform oil changes before testing? I feel like it adds an unrealistic amount of power. SH tires add an unrealistic amount of grip, so I can't really talk, and that's why I want to test on CS tires once I get a wheel and GT7. It'll be interesting to compare specs and lap times between GT6 and 7.

Well i allways knew that PP isn't everything, so i decided to test my 100 favourite cars to find out how they compare to one another. First i looked for a track that doesnt favour horsepower or cornering speed. Suzuka has straights and all kinds of corners so its the best track for a comparison i thought. Funny that you took the same track ^^ ... I started from lowest PP car and went up. Last one was the Alfa 8C. Maybe i continue tomorrow :)
The PS3 is in my brothers livingroom and he's a Battlefield addicted nerd, so i got not much time for playing. Also my time is limited in general...

I change oil with every car i buy... That's kind of standart for me. At online-races you might miss some power in stock-races... I'm not really a pro-driver due to my practice-time, so i don't want to handicap myself more compared to others ^^
Yes i know what u mean- i'm a realism-fan too but a pagani with CS tires and DS3 without tracktion control would be a problem ^^ ... I dont plan to buy a wheel...
I'm from Austria and live near the RedBull Ring - i did a lap there with my S2000 '05 and then in the game with CS tires and i even reduced the engine-power to 240 HP that are stock for the S2000.
In real life: 2:05,???
In game: 1:53,773 xD

Yes. Well put. Odd a game with so many tuning options requires you to use a notepad to keep up with the effects of said options.

I just tested the Honda Dualnote and it's the first car that has actually caused me intense emotional stress. I want to cry because it's pissing me off so much. I'm not sure if it sucks or if I suck. Probably both. Can't STAND this car.

Best I could do is 2:17.595 and I went off the track a little bit at the corner after the long back straight. **** this car.

It can do 2:16 but I sure as hell can't, not with this POS controller anyway. I wish I wasn't poor.

I quit. Please, someone else give it a try. I dare you.

I will, and the Acura DN-X too. I'm curious how similar they are.

Honda DUALNOTE '01 - 2:22.383

Acura DN-X '02 - 2:22.786

SH, oil change, no tuning/adjustments. I left ABS 1 and TCS 5 because I wasn't sure what you did. Both were lap two times. Both had loose rear ends which makes me think they would be great drifters if your into that sorta thing. Times were slower than yours, but in my defense, I really don't run this track much and I get the impression you do :)

Tested the Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo. It's 12 seconds faster than the "regular" GT1.

It's somewhat of a challenge on SH tires, as the car comes stock with SS tires.

2:05 can be done on controller, but not consistently.

2:11.296

MR cars truly separate the men from the boys. If you can drive a MR fast, you can drive anything fast. I tried and tried and tried but just couldn't break into the 2:10's...

Not having a proper wheel is extremely frustrating...

Fun fact: It's 1.5 seconds slower than the Ford GT '06 in my hands.

Not sure how I failed to test this car by now. Guess it was hiding!

Time - 2:14.048

It's as quick as the Viper SRT10 Coupe '06.

Interesting little FF, this. Capable of sub-2:30 laps. Finishes alongside the ST205 Celica GT-Four and S14 Silvia K's.

2:29.859

Amazing time considering these specs:

1.3L
146 hp / 6,000 rpm
133 ft-lb / 3,500 rpm
900 kg
402 pp

Okay I had a little time tonight and re-tested the 330i.

No way I can be two seconds faster. What made you predict that, @Noob_1?

Old time - 2:30.143
New time - 2:29.924

You can go ahead and try to get 2:28 out of this car with a DS3. Good luck :sly:

Specs:

254 hp / 6,500 rpm
221 ft-lb / 2,500 rpm
1,525 kg
425 PP

I think he said he does oil changes before he tests the car, whereas you test them using stock car sheet specs without the oil change. I imagine a 5% bump in power could affect times by ~1 second or so. Nice testing with the new cars. 👍

Sry not 2 sec but 1 sec. I compared some cars and most of the time you are about 0,6 to 1 sec faster than me. My time with the 330i is 2:29,785 so i thought yours is not at the limit. But BMW seems to be not your perfect fitting brand because with M5 '05 my time is 2:16,222 and i think your time there is also a bit slower if i remember it right.
Yeah i do oil change but i do my laptimes with "loss of grip: realistic" (i don't know how this option is called in the english version) so if i touch the grass- my lap is kind of destroyed because the tires need some time to get clean again. But i think there is also a grip-difference on the track itself. But i only tested the CR-X del Sol on "low" and "realistic". Second felt better to me so i left in on realistic.

Have you watched any of the videos? This guy eats his sandwich for lunch, while driving one-handed at the limit, carving up Suzuka.

I'm pretty sure he uses realistic grip as well, but the oil change on the BMWs you mentioned likely accounts for the time differences. The 330i gets a 7pp bump in performance and the M5 gets 8pp (5% increase for both). Detune your M5 and see if you can beat his time then.

Calm down mate ^^ i wrote that he is faster with most of the cars so i thought that he could do better with the 330i- that's why i suggested this car for a re-testing... I don't want to make your hero feel bad or sth ^^

I use low grip because I'm too lazy to set it to real for every car. There needs to be a way to set it to "real" permanently for all cars. There also needs to be an option to turn off traction control permanently.

Tested the Nissan GT-R SpecV '09, Suzuki Concept-S2 '03, and Tommykaira ZZII '00. Times are as follows:

2:12.501
2:30.416
2:06.828

The ZZII is insane. It hits 170 mph on the front straight.
The Concept-S2 has a glitch where the driver's helmet sticks out through the window a good amount...

First post is updated. Replays are up on youtube.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as angry or defensive. 👍

I can't get near his times with a G27 and it sounds like he spends hours running a single car lap after lap. I'm sure if he could get a faster lap he would have.

I don't want to make your hero feel bad or sth ^^
I hope you didn't make him feel bad, but I'm fine thanks.

I tested all 3 cars this morning within about an hour. I do more restarts than actual complete laps. I take the first lap at about 8/10ths of my ability to get a decent baseline, and spend another 10-15 minutes going the full 10/10ths.

And I hope I'm not anybody's hero. It's not like I'm doing this in real life like Top Gear's Stig

Tested Honda S800 RSC '68

2:40.778

It came with RH tires which I swapped for SH tires, and the only adjustable part was the transmission which of course I left alone.

Interesting fact: Honda opened a tuning shop called "RSC" at Suzuka Circuit and this was basically their first car.
