I've only ever wanted one tattoo.

On my arm.

Ohhhh yyeeaaaa.

im planning on getting the japanese symbols for love wealth and health on my right arm and v8 on the opposite arm just need to convince my mum and find out how much it will be.

愛 富 健康 ?

なぜ?

*shrug*

I tend not to like them, but I have a brother who has a bunch, all of which he illustrated himself, so he thinks they're cool. I've batted around the idea of getting Volkswagen or Star Wars tattoos previously, but I've never had the guts to do it. Which means I shouldn't, and likely won't.

........... just need to convince my mum and find out how much it will be.

WTF ? Why does your mum need convincing ? Maybe you should hold off till you are in a position that you dont require someone elses approval... tatts are basically forever so a little more time wont kill you right ?

To the others on here who are saying things like "I dont see the point and why would you, I never would..." <---this is the reason you would never, should never get a tattoo...

You get a tattoo for your own reasons, because you DO see the point and it IS something you would do. For most people tatts are a personal thing, I know mine is, so I dont expect people to understand my reasons for wanting to, nor do I seek acceptance for the decision to do so.
The only time it becomes the wrong decision is when the one with the tatt decides so.

I'm against the tattoo being on my body, couldn't care less when it's on someone else's.

I don't plan on getting any anytime soon with no money and living with my parents, but I do want to get one eventually. I've had some silly ideas over the years, just a few years ago I thought it would be epic to have Metallica going across my back, imagine what a huge mistake that would have been.

As for what I want, I want to get a celtic cross tattooed on my upper arm. I don't want it to be too fancy but something like this is around what I want it to look like. I'm a terrible artist so I can't imagine drawing one myself, but at the same time I want to try and make it something more personal than a picture of the internet. As for the meaning I've always loved the celtic cross and celtic design so it would be a neat design that also represents part of my heritage and religion at the same time

Diablo - you're lucky you could go along to the "Love Hate Tattoo" studio which stars in "Miami Ink". I'd feel privileged to have a tattoo done by Ami James :)

I'm just wandering how eveyone feels about tattoos. Do you like them or not? (Give your personal reason for whether you like or dislike them).
Also, who here has / plans to get tattoos?

I personally love tattoos because they are a fantastic artform (if done well) and it is a way to express yourself. Plus I just love the look of them.
I have two tattoos at the moment, and am booked in for two more on the 22nd.
I love the traditional style of tattoos, especially skulls. I plan to sleeve both of my arms - the left will be mainly skulls and black ink, and my right will be Japanese themed.
I also plan to get the Gran Turismo logo at some point to show my loyalty to the game.

Please share your opinions, I'd love to get opinions from as many people as possible.

On a totally un-related note, has anyone got an original, fully working battery for the PSP 1000 that they could send to me for free? :D

im a huge tattoo fan, my first 2 i got my right and left hands done. its a great way of showing originality and art at the same time, all of my tattoo's how ever are custom drawn though. i was never big on picking oit a generic photo in an album.

Tatt's have to be personal to you. As long as I can make that connection between ink and man (or woman) I'm in favor of them. But if there are too many like it makes up their 'bad boy image' I just laugh. Last time I checked, tatt's don't make you any tougher. I have debated on getting an Aerosmith tatt like my avatar for about 10 years now but I don't know where to put it and if I really want one. My dad got a Jerry Garcia/GD tattoo after Jerry died so maybe if the Toxic Twins 'expire' I'll get one *shrugs*.

that would make for one HOT tattoo, i gotta admit to that, i got 2 drawings im waiting to get inked, ones a cartoon face i drew in Oct. 2006, the other a stick figure on a skateboard.

Not quite, as I am not religeous so dont see the point in it ;) ... but for my tatt, I can explain my reasons, but really why should need to?

You don't if you don't want anyone to understand it. But don't be surprised when I continue not to understand despite your insistence that it's "personal".

You dont understand its personal ? Why do I chose to cut my hair in a certain way ? Why do I chose the clothes that I wear ? Why do I chose the artwork that decorates my house? Why do I chose the art that decorates my body ?

No one needs to understand my tattoo.. if you ask me I will tell you, but it depends on why you are asking.

If you are asking because you are curious as to the origins of the design then I am more than happy to explain as this is something that would be understandable to you simply from the point of explaining a picture, image or artwork.

If you are asking because you dont understand why people get tattoos and are seeking either my justification for getting a tatt or are seeking to debate my reasons for getting a tatt then it is not an answer I can give you because my reasons are clearly not understandable to you.... otherwise you would understand : )

No matter how much you like or dislike a tattoo, you will always rationalize some reason for getting it because of the fact that it's permanent.

I'm actually seriously considering getting tattoos for the first time in my life. The names of my two boys.

I have never understood why people do this at all, as you are considering it maybe you can explain your reasons for considering it, as I cannot really see past my thoughts on this.

You see, why would you need their names inked on your body forever, are you going to forget them.:dopey: Or is it just a grand gesture to say, look I have my kids names tattooed on me because they mean that much to me.:yuck: Parents express their feelings for their kids every single day, most of the time without even realising it. The only people who need to know how you feel about your children are your children and they don't need to see a tattoo of their names on you to know that. To me it is just wasting money, you would be better of spending the money the you would have spent on a tatoo, on something else, like your boys. You know the ones that mean so much that YOU need a tattoo to show YOUR love. If my parents had my name tattooed on them, ( thankfully they don't ) I wouldn't be impressed, infact I would have been worried, most people I see who have done this aren't exactly what I would call good parents.

On the general subject of tattoos, I don't like them so I doubt I will ever get one, but I don't mind at all other people having them, except when they are names of boyfriends/girlfriends/kids etc, I just don't understand that.

I failed when I got the name of my ex-🤬 inked onto me. Even before I had it, the tattooist's wife said to me "Oh, you should never get a name of a partner, it's the kiss of death you know".... she was soooo right. See my post above about having it removed!!

I've got a picture which shows how it looked with the name cover-up when I began the laser process, then partway through:

firsttosixth.jpg

It's much much paler than that now but it is still visible and I'm going to have to rely on cover up make-up to "remove" it totally.

If you're a bit squeamish, then you don't want to see the next pic which was taken directly after a laser session (spaced for the wobbly people):

ok.

I think you're misunderstanding me. I'm not asking why you choose one particular tattoo vs. another. I'm asking why you choose to mark on your body in the first place. This would be akin to me asking you why you cut your hair or why you wear clothes, as opposed to why you chose a particular haircut, or why you chose a particular outfit.

If you are asking because you dont understand why people get tattoos...

Yes, that's it.

...my reasons are clearly not understandable to you.... otherwise you would understand : )

Like religion? I have to want a tattoo in order to understand wanting one?

The only tattoo I have now is one signifying that I have been suspended. In the future I have a whole back piece planned that comprises of my bands logo & imagery of our 10 first songs.

IMG_1096.jpg

And yeah its on my ankle, but most people can't say they've been suspended, so I kinda earned putting that tattoo wherever I wanted to.

Alright, hang on. I need to catch up.

Your school got sufficiently upset with your behavior to tell you they don't want you coming in and being around the other kids, and you decided to memorialize that by engraving it on your leg?

Unless he means actually suspended, you know, by meat hooks through the loose skin on the back...?

:odd:
