Tattoos. What is your opinion?

Yes, that's it.
Like religion? I have to want a tattoo in order to understand wanting one?

I see your point... I dont understand religion nor do I understand peoples desire to follow a religion, it makes no sense to me at all.

You previously said you dont understand why people get tattoo's in your earliest post, I doubt any argument from me would alter that and honestly I am not the one person in this world who would change your level of understanding on it. I could throw out some points but ultimately I believe you would view my comments as a point for you to attempt to argue against. This is not the path to understanding, for that to happen there must first be acceptance and that is something I so far do not see in any of your posts re why the hell people would want to mark their bodies :)

Your premise is invalid. Acceptance is not a requirement for understanding.

Whatever dude... as soon as you accept that people have a valid reason for wanting a tattoo then you may (though I suspect may not) understand why... but pointless arguement on "why" you cannot understand peoples desire to do this is doing nothing but increasing our post counts... I can do the same thing in one of the many wish lists here and still achieve the same outcome.
As said by yourself "I cannot understand..." as said by me "I am not the person to change your view on it" cause basically I dont care enough about other peoples views on tattoos.
The only person who can rectify your lack of understanding is yourself.... I dont see any actual desire for understanding, more a willingness to look for holes in peoples justifications. To me that simply says you dont accept peoples justifications as valid instead of accepting that they are valid and you dont understand them.
I accept the proof for Fermats Last Theorem as valid but it doesnt mean I understand it.... you see where I am coming from here?

I'm asking why you choose to mark on your body in the first place.

So... what you're saying is that you can't explain it.

You could have just said yes.

My sister has a cross on her left shoulder blade. It doesn't really bother me, although I do sometimes think why.

I'd never have one, and find sleeves and body art a bit off putting Small tat's are OK I suppose, but I prefer a clean body. Just preference

Ah, gotcha.

That is messed... the... hell.... up.

OU the hell CH

Unless he means actually suspended, you know, by meat hooks through the loose skin on the back...?

:odd:

It was very fun and enjoyable. I'm doing it again either on Halloween, or when I go back home from college, this time I think I'll do a Coma with 10 hooks; But that experience right there is sort of why I like tattoos and I am currently working with the guy who runs the suspension crew to do a full back piece with imagery of my bands songs & logo.

I would never get a tattoo done unless I'm 100% confident I won't regret getting it done in the future.

In other words, I would never get a tattoo done, period.

I am not a big lover of tatoos. On some folks they look good.
I'm especially fond of a tastefully done "tramp stamp"...

But my big issue is that eventually all that skin is going to expand or contract, and your sparrow will become a dragon, or a housefly.

Also, to keep a tattoo looking good it has to be touched up every few years. Doesn't sound like fun to me. But I don't do "voluntary pain".

That's not necessarily true.

The tattoo above (sun and moon) which is on my back was done in 2003. I've been out in the sun every year since that, at least once and the colours are still as strong as when it was done.

There's one on my upper arm which is black and blue was done in 1997 and again, still has relatively strong colours. I'm condsidering having it touched up in a few years, when it's been on me 15 years :)

Just came across this tattoo. Clever, but risky at the same time.

My feelings on tattoos: Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand. - Homer J. Simpson

I feel one's actions are far more permanent than ink on skin. Having someone else express your feelings by using your body as a canvas sort of blurs the meaning of it, to me.

I got my first tattoo earlier this year in the end of February. The first of many.

If anyone here is into guns/NFA items and heard of the AAC 'Branded For Life' campaign back in February/March you'll know just how meaningful my tattoo is.

It's on my upper right arm. Looks like the below image. About 3"x3".

The Ramadan from Africa is always used as a Swastika tattoo. It's not a risky tattoo at, though I can bet the dude doesn't know the origin of the 'swastika' LoL.

I tattooed the both hands and everyday I see the 2 tats, I can never regret them they're what I wanted. But I see your point-of-view but I live life with no regrets you only get one shot at this.

I got myself a new tattoo! i got it the day before yesterday. soooo its only fitting that i post it here. i've had the design for like 3 years now. and i figure if i still want it after 3 years than it is a good tattoo design. i wont just walk in and get one off the shelf i need my own custom work that no one else has. and well.. anyways onto the ink!

Did the same person who did the one on your right arm do this one too?

I'd like to show off a couple tattoos I've done recently...

I'll revive this post the day before my premium expires.

Anything dealing with vincent price is just classic:dopey:

I have a good bit of work done, almost full left arm and misc on back. I don't have anything picked from a flash board etc. All of mine have meaning and purpose. Ive got my grandmas name in a heart on my wrist recently, ive got my club colors on my arm also fairly recent, BPBFFBPB. Hardly any of mine are for "artistic" reasons, most are to let other clubs know who im part of or what we believe, some like my web on my elbow mean ive done time etc. The only thing i have that is artistic choice was my flames going up my entire left arm, all in black and grey.

I like when people say things like, oh what about when you get a job or think of how that will look when your old or what if you change your mind. I could care less if anyone likes them, they aren't for them and i have never really had a normal "suit and tie" job. I'm like G.G.Allen so i could care less how they look when im old, they are for purpose not fancy looks. And i will never change my mind because they are my history, and my family.

my career states that tattoo's are welcome. im gonna be working in the bowels of a body shop. no one is going to see me half the time. ill be either bringing out dents, spot welding holes. plug welding. or my favorite part mixing up the chemicals and painting the damn car pink! or whatever color the customer denotes at the time. i wanna paint. plain and simple. and thats what im gonna do. watch tv, everyone has tats in the paint field. all the new guys anyway

idk.... i really dont think having someone writing something on you (painfully) that will never, ever, come off (only fade and look ugly) is exactly my idea of awesome.... the only thing i would ever have tattoed on me is a porsche logo

My friend in the Marines has a tattoo of his dog tags on the left side of his abdomen. Or it could be on his left peck, I don't really remember where. Apparently he told me his whole squad did it.

It looked bad ass to be honest.

Im military and before I joined they had to take pictures and have them approved

I had the flames and lax.football tat on my lower arms.. the Flames tattoo had just made the cut. it should not go below your wrist bone for good measure or the neck so that you can cover them up.

Besides the flames... I designed all my tats.

There's a sign on one of my local tattoo shops which reads

"The only difference between people with tattoos and people without tattoos is that people with tattoos don't care if you don't have any"
