There's a sign on one of my local tattoo shops which reads

"The only difference between people with tattoos and people without tattoos is that people with tattoos don't care if you don't have any"

The only difference between people with cardboard spoilers and people without cardboard spoilers is that people with cardboard spoilers don't care if you don't have one.

(Not saying cardboard spoilers = tattoos. I'm saying that line of reasoning is quite silly.)

I'm sure the driver of that vehicle only has time to care about the massive amounts of downforce that baby is producing, never mind tattoos

Suicide girls got NOTHING on Yakuza women.

Hope this one isnt too Racy for GTP

I find Yakuza body art to be one the most aesthetically pleasing forms of body art, it's not a collection of individual works but a full work which remains in progress.

Without a doubt, if I ever get one of these done on my back, I will be an idiot. However, they look so awesome to me that I would gladly pay the price. Besides, it's not like I'm going to show them to people. The ones I like the most are the second and third one, with an inclination towards the third one. Without words, it would probably look better.

I guess I'm a rarity. An old sailor without a tattoo.
In my current profession you'll hear talk about the "tattoo to teeth" ratio.
Especially in emergency rooms.

I can't think of anything I want written on my body so badly that I'm willing to spill blood for it.
I'm not part of any tribe. I own no land with barbed wire. I don't ride a motorcycle, and if I did I'd have the damn thing under me, and perhaps a t-shirt with the logo.

I play guitar but don't have any logos, I have the damn thing in my hands or strapped across my chest. Like the cycle, I have the t-shirts as well.

I understand it as art, but I'm still not willing to shed blood to have some artwork put on my bod that I may come to hate later.

I know a gorgeous woman with a few tats. She constantly tells me she wishes she'd never gotten them.
As I said before, a friend from High School got one recently, and said that it hurt so bad that she'd never get another.

Girls are the masters of dealing with pain--trust me I've seen this time and again in my professional life.
If a girl tells me the pain is excruciating, I figure I'll leave it alone.

...It's kinda hard to not tattoo a bone in the foot, that's pretty much all it is, it's also why it's one of the most painful places to get tattooed.

I don't know mate, I will let you know when I finish my sleeve because its going through my arm pit and not around it like 99 percent of people I see....queens....

I have never understood why people do this at all, as you are considering it maybe you can explain your reasons for considering it, as I cannot really see past my thoughts on this.

You see, why would you need their names inked on your body forever, are you going to forget them.:dopey: Or is it just a grand gesture to say, look I have my kids names tattooed on me because they mean that much to me.:yuck: Parents express their feelings for their kids every single day, most of the time without even realising it. The only people who need to know how you feel about your children are your children and they don't need to see a tattoo of their names on you to know that. To me it is just wasting money, you would be better of spending the money the you would have spent on a tatoo, on something else, like your boys. You know the ones that mean so much that YOU need a tattoo to show YOUR love. If my parents had my name tattooed on them, ( thankfully they don't ) I wouldn't be impressed, infact I would have been worried, most people I see who have done this aren't exactly what I would call good parents.

On the general subject of tattoos, I don't like them so I doubt I will ever get one, but I don't mind at all other people having them, except when they are names of boyfriends/girlfriends/kids etc, I just don't understand that.

I've been pondering this for over a month now. At first when I read it I must admit I was a bit upset in a "How dare you question my love for my kids" kind of way. But as time has passed I've though about it and I can now honestly say: You are absolutely right. I don't need to put their names permanently on my body, why would I. I know I would have been slightly embarrased if my dad had had my name tattooed on his body and I certainly don't want my kids to be more embarrased than necessary over their dad.

So, truthfully, thanks for your post. You are wise beyond your years.

Why would you have been embarrassed?

I'm against any intervention on my body that is not needed.

But I liked this:

and I had something removed from my face that was there naturally, did not hurt, but scared my wife :ill:.

Tattoo chicks are hot, till they get wrinkles.

I am more of the clean typ guy.

No tattoo needed to get individualized. Now it is even the other way around.

That does look cool but I don't know if it's possible to get such a detailed tattoo on your tongue, I knew a guy who tried just a small tattoo on his tongue to see what it was like - it only lasted a few months I think he ended up sucking all the ink out of his tongue until there was nothing left to see.

You are Voldemort
Had to look that up, I'm not into Harry Potter.

It was more like something that worked for Cindy Crawford, did not work for me.

By the way;: I did consider tattoos and burn marks to conceal a scar, but decided against it in the end.

Looked like body painting to me as well.

Eventhough tattoo is against my religion but I have no problem whatsoever with people having a tattoo. It's a form of art from what I see. However, I do have problem with it when people cover up the whole of their body full with tattoos and when the design sort of going way overboard... Other than that, it's nothing wrong.

I do love tattoes but I just feel like its mood related, and I don't think I'm that consistent of a person to settle on one idea. I just can't imagine looking at the same drawing on my body and know that someday I'll hate it.

I don't really like them, they just seem too unnatural to me, and I find they look rather rough and always seem to be applied to fat smokers. How do you remove them anyway?

I don't mind tattoos, although I'd have a hard time deciding what tattoo I would want.

Here's an interesting bit of trivia - in Japan, tattoos are commonly associated with the Yakuza. Some places won't let you in if you have tattoos.

I have a dragon tattoo on my left buttock. I only swore once whilst having it done, so no, it isn't excruciating. My piercings hurt more! :)

I don't mind them, but some people over do it in my opinion. f I would ever get one it must have a special meaning, something that I won't regret putting on my body. Also I would put it probably on a upper arm, shoulder, or my back.

I quite like tattoos, but don't have any and to be honest, don't think i ever will.. the problem is (as much as i like them), is that.. i know what appeals to me now, most probably wont appeal to me further down the line, i have done unique artwork for a few others though (literally a few as in 3 :D), unfortunately i don't have any pics to show, as iv'e lost contact with 2 of the people that had them done, and i regret not taking pics at the time, i will try post a pic of the most recent 1 though (as soon as she gets it done).. it's nothing special (just flowers and script), but i find it's quite a rewarding feeling that somebody out there, is in effect wearing art which iv'e created.
