TCV5 HURRY THE HELL UP thread

I remember it. ;) I was thinking of doing it's bigger brothers but didn't want an easy challenge. :P

Actually, you just reminded me of something with them, I'm going to compare one of them against my current HEAVYWEIGHT contender. If it's better then I might swap to that car. ;)

Not this time my friend.....not this time. :mischievous:
I'm underpowered for Supercar Class using that M3, but the sheer pace it has will suprise alot of the fatter entries up there. :P

Oh and we shall see. :sly:
You were dealing with a Supra back then RJ. This time, the playing field's been evened out and you aren't dealing with 1300kg of Phase 1 Fatboy, you're dealing with a sub-1100kg supercar killer that on paper will be more than a match for both your cars.👍

I'll let the actions speak more than my words this time. :sly:

And you're dealing with a couple of supercar killers that are lighter than 1100kg and will take your paper and shred it. :D

What's a TC without a bit of "competitive talking" between us, Mafs? :P

You were dealing with a setup that was about a year old back then Mafs.

This time, the playing field's been evened out and you aren't dealing with my driving, you're dealing with your own and the other judges'.

I bloody suck at driving. Remember that. Further, the instant Roj adds "oil change" to his parts list there's not much in this category that will touch his NSX... Aside from my FD. ;)

This looks like a fun opportunity, but I’m afraid since I’m new to GTP I have no idea what I’d be getting myself into. As long as no one minds the newbe I just might enter a car. I might be new to GTP but I’m not new to GT4 so perhaps my car could at least put up some competition.

The more the merrier AWDA. 👍 Just make sure you abide by the rules set out in the TCv5 entry thread and go for it. :)

RJ & roj, stop stirring the pot otherwise you'll make the others get annoyed at us. :P Like I said, wait and see.

Hey I was once in your position when I first came to GTP. I joined and shortly after I entered the Vintage Tuner Cup. I was a bit nervous but I entered anyway. My '88 Supra ended up 3rd. I was happy. :D:tup:

Just don't mention my Autobianchi tune... :grumpy: :P

Oh and Mafs, stirring the pot is what we always do. No one gets annoyed at us usually. When they do, we'll stop. :P

I've got to be a little bit more P.C. since I'm overseeing it this time around. :sly: That doesn't mean you can't be though. :D

The M3 experiment failed, by 1hp. And I'm not satisfied with only having 430hp. :P So I'll stick with my current heavyweight entry. The hint I'll give is that it's ALREADY in GME, it's just been taken out that little degree more on the power/weight/handling stakes and being re-released as a semi-new model. ;)

Fair enough. You are excused. :P

Anyone interested in stirring pots with me and Rotary Junkie? :sly:

Alright, Lightweight and Heavyweight, time to make some.

Why bother?? Here's a self-stirring pot for you.

:D

Yeah but that just like letting B-spec bobby drive your favourite car, he will never stirr the pot as good as you do...

Im not to sure about this "Versatility" category. I usually dont take any other lines through an apex except the one thats fastest for that vehicle, setup, and drivetrain layout. Which makes the other lines irrelevant. I thought versatility involved the vehicle being able to adapt to different courses with the same or similar setup.

But what about the times when you aren't on the racing line, when you have to pass the AI for example?? That's where the versatility comes in, to illustrate that no matter where on the course you take it that the car will behave in a similar fashion. There's no point doing versatility basing it's ability on various courses when the battle is happening at Motegi I figured, so I concentrated on it's ability to do similar lap times no matter what the situation. :)

Remember, when it comes judging time it's not like it's a 1 lap shootout. Yes we keep your best laptime for the 'battle monster' category, but one way of driving the car might be good, then you drive a bit sillier and find out you're going quicker even though you're going on a line you wouldn't have considered to be the racing line. :)

What the heck is a mobile chicane?

Besides my S15 has been beautifully setup, i dare to say it even understeers a little bit. I expect a good result or i shall forever hang my head in shame.

I'm still in debate about which car to use. I could use some ricerocket and pretty much promise myself a great lap time and great handling, but for some reason that just seems too easy. So I'm in debate between slower but larger improvement over stock, and faster and lesser improvement. Sadly looking at the scoring it seems faster may pay off better.

Something that while moving can be still manouvered around like it's the swimming pool chicane at Monaco! :P Don't worry Jonn, it's just gentle ribbing between the competitors.....it's a constant battle for supremacy between the garages. :sly:

Not as I saw it when I devised the scoring. You could develop a tuner car that's slower against it's fellow entries but it handles better, is more enjoyable and versatile to drive and it still destroys the battle monster in the process.

Don't look at your fellow entrants as competitors even though it is a competition against them, look at the battle monster as your competitor and how well you do with that in mind is what's going to score good points in this TC. :)

You, sir, have a great point x3. I was about to say that the battle monster does mean it has to be rather fast, but Mine's Evo isn't as fast as I thought it would be. As it turned out "fast" is slower than I thought it needed to be. Thanks for clearing that up :P;; ...probably end up in something Japanese anyway.

So fun comes into the scoring then? My Stratos is huge fun (obviously) and quick but i'm not so sure it's that versatile as far as different lines are concerned. Taming it has quite a laugh, although i'm sure you more experienced guys would do a better job.

After some searching around I found a middleweight. A car I always forget is in GT4. Capable of running high 1:22's and consistent 1:23's.

Should be able to post in a day or so.

Yeah I need to get on this..... I have a few things that come to mind, I just have to put my mind to it and get it done lol

People, just thought I let you know that I still require 1 judge for TCv5 judging in a few weeks time, so I'm doing another callout for a volunteer.

If anyone's interested, just let us know through PM or by replying in this thread. :)

May the best tuner win guys. 👍

Another silly question...actually two. I'd rather ask them then start making mistakes, and I jsut realized I'm not supposed to ask questions in the Battle Motegi thread :dunce:.

First question: Am I allowed to post the results of my testing in the BAttle Motegi thread? Or is that thread just for posting the various cars people enter in the race? Sorrry, men, haven't been keeping up with this TCV5 discussion. I'm sure the answer is here somewhere, but I don't have time to wade thru 14 pages of discussion. :indiff:

Second question: Are TCV5 and Battle Motegi the same thing? The statement below makes it sound like there's actually TWO contests.

These cars will set the benchmark of what is required for TCv5 in terms of laptime and performance.

im confused just reading that.

i think tvc5 is the same thing as the battle motegi. basically all of our cars have to go up against the "battle monsters of motegi".

Yea I know. But I just wanna be absolutely clear on all the rules & guidelines before I start delving into this. I don't wanna have to backtrack at some point. :ouch:

ANyways, I just figured out the 2nd question I asked earlier. The "MONSTER" cars are supposed to set the benchmark for what various people enter. I get it now. Therefore Battle Motegi=TCV5 (I get confused with rules easily). I was initially thinking the cars people enter will set the benchmark for TCV5, not monsters>cars people enter.

*sits there snickering* Sorry Parnelli, couldn't resist. It's the same deal as last time bro, seperate thread for bundling up all the rides and our judging results. 👍

And TCv5 = Battle Circuit Motegi.

I just wanted it to give it a snazzy sub-name. :P

And don't worry, it's only a silly question if it needs a silly answer. Your questions are anything but silly 95% of the time.
