TCV5 HURRY THE HELL UP thread

Well, my net went down and ps2 broke again lol...... looks like I'm out I might put last years winner and a few in there that have not been reviewed.....sorry guys

Sorry to hear about that shoman. Hope you get another PS2 soon. :)

I'm at real pains for Lightweight. Testing one retro entry made it so awesome and versatile to drive but the time on paper didn't match it making it bad against the battle monster. So I took the ride out on FC +10, destroyed a 450-550hp field of cars (M5, Viper, Spyker, Zonda, SL55) and still can't match my BM time. It was so versatile, quick and fun but I still can't match my BM time.

I've even taken a photo of the car and saved it for upload, but the time still doesn't match up to the BM. I'm loving the car, but it's not up to the BM.

Get where I'm going with this?? :) The car is good to enter the comp, but it's not going to match times with the BM and so I'll have to restart again. Retro effort #2 coming up.....

*I wonder how much better the Hakosuka would be if it went on a diet?*

Just wanted to say "hi", and that I will be entering a middleweight entry tomorrow 👍 Got to do some things to the car, since I tuned it for overall performance. It will be now easier for me to tune it just for Motegi.

Mafs, are you saying retro car? How retro can it get? I hope it is not the same one as mine :nervous:

So I judge RJ's first. :P Anything else??

I'm looking at four options to torment these Amuse's, 3 of them are retro entries, the 4th is fighting your Amuse fire with a different S2K fire. ;)

What if you need to judge RJ's again because of some... thing that requires it? Stop trying to save yourself money. :P

I'm eager to see what retro car has the guts and the chassis to take on the S2000. :sly: I'm also eager to see which S2000 you put against the Amuse. It can't be an Opera, can it? I'm thinking either Mugen or Spoon for you. Non-tuner S2000's can't make the weight limit. :yuck:

I can ALWAYS save myself money. It's called the reset button. ;) Tune, write down notes, reset, repeat. Simple. :P

I'm stuck on retro car #1, I'm taking it out to various tracks and beating the same 450-550hp opposition getting 180-185pts. on FC +10. :embarrassed: I'm testing Hakosuka next and then there's another oldish car that's there to test out...it will be good after weight reduction but hopefully it has the overall pace and hp to do it. 👍

And you are still well off with the S2K.

1 Capri run pays off a whole S2000 anyway. You're just greedy for cash. :P

FC+10 is childs play on some tracks. Stock Impreza Wagon cleans house at Trial against the +10 lot. ;)

Did I miss a S2000 model or something? :ouch:

Yes you did (Amuse Street Version :P), but after looking at them all, I abandoned that and went tuning retro #2....it's on par with the battle monster at the least but again that's not enough, it's spot on 285hp but a bit too fat where retro #1 wasn't powerful enough but perfect handling. I think retro #3 will be the one, it's a balance of both. ;)

All this talk of retro, I may jump on that bandwagon ;)! Nah, my entriees are slowly coming together. Just curious as to why so many people posted only a few days after the comp begun. Ahhh well, expect me to enter supercar, lightweight, and/or heavyweight.

I've just finished my middleweight entry, and i'll post it later. Hit a 1'23.146 with it :D. I think i've decided on a lightweight entry, and it's getting decent times, but it feels like a boat. Bloody British... ;). I've also started driving Vince's Lotus Elise and Roj's NSX. I'm not going to give away times, but they're both bloody fast for their classes.

Hope nobody's losing sleep with this challenge! 👍

I didn't think the SV had a chance against the R1 so I missed it out. :dopey:

Alot of us have been waiting for TCv5 for a long time, so the excitement to tune cars results in faster release. :D Also 2 of my entires are from TCv3 and TCv4, so they were pure copy and paste. Obviously I made sure they were driveable at Motegi first. :P Reasons why I'm using repeat cars is explained in the "notes:" of both tunes. ;)

1'23 middleweight eh? I think it's going to be a close one for middleweight. ;)👍 Midship power! :D

RVV rented a luxury hotel for the duration of TCv5, only minutes from the track. I dont know about RJ and Vince, but I'm not losing any sleep in that comfy bed. :D

yeah, and believe me, luxury is an understatement for that hotel! :)

Hey, nobody said it was going to be a cheap challenge... ;)

I'm declaring my lightweight and middleweight done. My middle weight is capable of running 1:22's, and consistent 1:23's.

My lightweight is handicapped by only having 5 gears but still runs around 1:28 flat.

Both should be posted later today, I would have done it sooner but I hurt my back.

My heavyweight is 95% done, and runs around 1:23 flat. May be able to post that today also.

Still no idea about a supercar.

Ain't that the truth. I sold all my LMP cars for 7 million extra credits, just so I can afford all the cars i'll have to judge!

Also, I modified my middleweight at the last minute... now it's running exactly 375bhp and it makes a difference... now i'm doing 1'22.532, and the car is looking pretty competitive with Roj's NSX, which was pulling similar laps! That was totally unexpected, but i'm not used to the NSX yet... I could probably get low 1'22's with it.

Figured I would post some numbers here...

My lightweight entry still to be posted runs about 1'21.6xx in a good lap and under 1'22 consistently. I can say this: If you want speed and style on the same car, this is one of the best choices I can think of 👍

I already know what yours is C-L because I tried one myself. ;) It is the quickest by a mile, but getting it stable was the problem under braking. It will get you good points in the laptime category though.

Option #3 seems to be my best bet here. Smallish, lightish, retro & packs a punch, best compromise of all the cars yet.

 You've got a point there, Mafs. Stable under braking? If we are talking about the same car, it seems stable enough. Coming out of corners under acceleration is another thing, though

ABud, I've tested the Stratos already. It will be interesting to see what you've done with your example but I'm pretty sure you'll have the laptime dominated.

Adamgp your examples have me worried, both of them are good but especially the Shelby. ;) The V8S though has a glitch that gives it different figures in the garage screen and the sell screen so I'll have to double check to make sure it's under overall. 👍

As for me, retro effort #3 was a pretty bad fail since I had to add nearly 100kg onto it and pretty much killed it's performance. :( A change to a modern competitor has delivered decent results, it's on par with the R1's but it's still not enough for me. It's frustrating because I know what I have to come up with in laptime and also with handling but I keep getting one or the other. :irked:

I might stick with a variation of the modern car or go with retro #1.

The 284hp figure is obtained from the garage screen, and the WPR is within the rules. Difference in versions maybe?

I built one heck of a heavyweight today, exactly 465hp, almost exactly 1300kg, handles great and very fast, yet the lap times are somewhat slow.:boggled: best so far is high 1:23's.

I'm starting to get worried, only one of my cars made it into the 1:23 range. I better do more laps in my cars just to see what i can max out with changing any settings of course.

No it doesn't; just there's a difference between the car list screen set to show HP and what it says when you actually look at the car to get in or sell. ;)

Yeah, it's pretty quick but we all know how wild these STRATOS' tend to be:dopey:

Just a little dumb question about the supercar class - do we have to stick within the weight and power values (1601+ kg, 575bhp) or can we be within the WPR ( > 2.785)?

I ask this as i'm eyeing up a car lighter than 1601kg but it will obviously be lower powered.

Andy

I'm joining with atleast one entry to lightweight class.
is it possible that I enter more cars in same class ?

Woo hoo! I've been away for a couple of weeks, and it's good to see how things have developed. Well done fellers. I'll print out the rules and stuff tonight and get started.

@adamgp: I'd been playing around with the V8S despite not quite knowing the rules, picking it cause it's 1050kg. I'll probably pick another now, but good luck with it, it's a fun one to tune.

Ain't that the truth. I sold all my LMP cars for 7 million extra credits, just so I can afford all the cars i'll have to judge!

It cost me 7,491,509cr to judge the last one. I didn't sell any of my own ones, but won and sold seventeen Toyota Rally Raid cars.
