I haven't been running the LMS races.
Neither of the times really are good for me.
Target time for Road Atlanta is 2:19 though. :)

Very nice skins. That's the 997 right? But why number 776? Seems a bit high to me.

How exactly do you do custom skins for the Endurance Pack? Do you just make a new folder, copy the required files, and swap out the TGA file, and rFactor automatically recognizes the folder?

I dunno, TT13 picked 777 so I went for 776. :D
That is the 997.
If you download the templates off of EnduRacers website, you can open what is a pdf file in some sort of photoshop. Edit it as you wish, then flatten the layers. Add an alpha channel and then convert it to dds format not tga.
To test it, go to your rFactor install and replace the dds of one of the cars already there. Make sure you make a back up first.

That's my thirty second basic tutorial. :P

@Lime Rock Park: I'm at a 52.9 so far, very minimal practice time. If anyone else is going to race there in GT2 let me know how you fare.

EDIT: from real ALMS times, the pole in qualifying trim was BMW at a 50.9 or something like that. A few of the cars qualified in 52s, and most were 51s. I know it isn't exactly the same, especially when things change in the real series every year. But it feels good to "compete" with the pros :D

So you can't technically create you're own separate car. Do the other racers see the custom skin then?

To use your own skin everyone in the entire series has to have the file on their computer. That's why CMS does "skin packs" each season which is a compiled download of everyone's skin. You could still use it otherwise but only you would see it I think.

And I think those joining before the next pack is out can just use the ones we already have. Just has someone else's name and number on it but so do all the standard skins.

lol
Changing the drivetrain is just a matter of editing a single line in the text file. Same with adding 99999999999 horsepower to my Fiat 500.
It's not TOO difficult to do the real basic stuff.

Yeah, but, I was thinking of a full redesign, too redistribute more downforce to the front, and a bit less to the rear... 👍

Anyways, barring some creative "spur of the moment" decisions, if I get a job, should I get rFactor with a G27? Should I get rFactor 2? Does rFactor come with a code, now, to get rFactor 2?

Sell me on the idea.

You guys should show up for lime rock tonight. I have a good base tune I can share with you (originally from Jav) for the 997. It's the fun race. I might be there if I have internet.

Here's a video I did when the livery first got finished a few months back. It's not great lighting for some reason, but here it is. Sebring. Sorry for the strange Asian chimes the game put in the beginning of the lap...

I'm a little confused on how the forums work with organized racing events. The link on the first post here is what I'm referring to. Do new events get posted in new threads or something?

Yeah, there's a pre-race thread for each new race, and they're usually every other Thursday (NALMS) and Sunday (the Global Le Mans series), with some variation (there are master posts with dates for each race). Mainly you just find the CMS room on the list of online games and join up around race time. But it takes some preparation because CMS has so many specific rules you have to follow, including registering and a few downloads and all that. The master posts should cover all the procedures.

Even when I'm not racing a certain week I'll snag the track file if it's a good one, there are quite a few!

Oh, forgot to mention that they closed open registration to new members. I think one of us has to recommend you but I don't know how to go about it.

Gogatrs has already covered the registration part. He referred me. I'm already a member there. But thanks for the input. I'll study the structure a little more.

Also, is there a way to test out online on a server with you guys without screwing up anyone else?

They always have a test server up for the next race, and usually there are only a few people on at a time, if any. Especially not until real close to the race. Other than that, I think gatrs said it's difficult to set up an individual server without having the hardware.

Been testing at Sebring, got the Porsche down to a 2:06 and change and still learning the track. Think that's not too bad. At least it's within range of what I guess would be a target time around 2 flat, a little above or below being the range for GT2 cars at qualifying trim and low fuel load.

I managed to create my own separate car. I'm still working out what pieces go where, but my first dds attempt was successful. Do you have any tips on how the alpha channel should be set, or anything about the exporting the file to dds via the Nvidia plugin?

Sorry my subscription to this thread got deleted somehow. :banghead:
stormy I don't think alpha channel has any effect on all but one of the EnduRacer cars. They did that to keep file size down.

Also...
Jav has bailed on me for Petit which is next Saturday at 3 CST. If anybody else can do it with me I'd be happy to have them on board. Need to be able to drive the Corvette as it's GT1 cars only. I already have a set up.

I'd try, but I really don't think I can do it with the controller. I was having new lock up problems with the brakes on the 997 at Sebring last night. It was just one corner too. I never had that problem before. I didn't change anything in the setup, so I'll have to take a look at the files to see if I accidentally changed something I wasn't supposed to, which really shouldn't be the case.

I can try to practice with the Vette, but I can't promise anything. Which spec (exact model) and track are you going to use?

Hopefully, I'll have my steering wheel sooner than later.

Doesn't really matter which year you use.
But there's a download link for the track in the special events section on CMS.
See if you can get a 1:24 then I'll send you my set up.
As a matter of fact, any chance you could get on the practice server tonight?
Pace is not too big of a problem. Consistency is more important. I'll take care of the pace. :sly:

I managed to hook up my DS3 controller via USB. So I'll try it out later. It may be better than the DS2 I was using.

👍 I think that you'll be able to drop a few tenths being able to brake and and gas at the same time.

I tested it out, and it works a bit better. I had a problem where I couldn't use the brake and throttle at the same time, but I fixed it. Tried blipping the throttle during downshifts, made the car much more stable under heavy braking. Only problem is, it's weird on a controller and I sometimes upshift by accident. I will have to get used to it before I try anything big.

The cool thing is everything is supported with the DS3, from vibration to the motion sensors.
