'fraid I'm not going to make this race either. :grumpy:
Baseball is starting to consume my life which makes me even more :grumpy:. Never been a huge fan of baseball. :grumpy:

Lol!! Then why are you playing baseball in the first place??

Last minute change in the CMS World Series, the next race will be held at Singapore not Spain. Need to start practicing, only have 1 week to learn it.

Race day has arrived, is anyone else racing today at Singapore?

Hey guys, long time no post.
A few of us are going to be racing in CMS' 4 hours of Le Mans. It requires two man teams and at least one driver swap.
It's in August and anybody that's even remotely interested should check it out.

August is a lil ways off, so not sure about my availability for that one. But i intend on practicing for this anyway. What are the teams and what cars are you guys running?

I got a simracing capable PC a few months ago, all that's needed is some time to set it up and get the needed programs now that I have settled into a new place to live. ;) Possible near-future PC Simracing plans are to take part in the Touring Car and Endurance series offered by the rFactor Gentlemens Racing Club and possibly the Bullrun 1000.

I may look into their endurance series.
What's the Bull Run 1000?

Hey guys. I tried joining that http://cmsracing.com, but I guess the administrators disabled it.

If you are still looking (which I doubt at this point), I can create a livery for you guys. Just need to know what car, class, tire manufacturer, oil supplier, and any additional sponsorship. I also may need a template if I can't find one in the rFactor directories.

Thanks.

This is a grim time for CMS lolol. With all the issues they have been having they decided to block registration until 2013!

Stupid if you e-mail the mods and tell them gogatrs/Thomas Roth sent you, they can manually create you an account.

And some new skins would be cool.
Another person's creativity would be nice to make a new skin.
The one we have for the Porsche is very nice but I'm trying to think how it could be better.

I'll try that out, thanks.

I'll also take a look at your Porsche. I believe I saw some screens of it in earlier posts, but the original texture file would be better. Is that the only car you guys run?

I've been playing rFactor with my DualShock 2 controller with a USB adapter (steering on the left anolog stick, brake and throttle on the right analog stick). I'm just struggling with braking with the GT class (either I apply the brakes too much and they lock up, they lock up when downshifting, or I don't apply enough pressure and end up going wide) so I end up braking too early in heavy braking areas. Also, with some of the cars, I can't seem to adjust the brake pressure (i.e. the Falken Porsche I can't, but BMW M3 I can adjust it down to 80%).

I can race pretty well with LMP2 (I was actually beating some LMP1 A.I. cars on default difficulty, including the 908, on Long Beach 2007), but may be slower when compared to other human drivers. I make less mistakes in LMP2 than GT2. That's another reason I was asking if there was a mod or built in feature that displayed brake and throttle input like GT5 does.

I'd sign up to be a driver as well, but I'm just too afraid that I'll screw up for you guys and ruin someone else's race in the process. In GT5, I really don't have to worry about brakes locking up when ABS is on.

And thanks fer calling meez stupidz! ;)

EDIT: Also, if I am to do the skin, I also need to know the following:

Main Sponsor: GT Planet Obviously
Tire Manufacturer: The tires display Michelin on the screen shot.
Oil Supplier: Whatever you want.
Secondary Sponsers: Any other pertinent sponsors.
Mandatory Stickers: Any other stickers mandated by the organization (i.e. Series Logo, Number Plates, License Stickers, Event Stickers, Class Stickers, etc.).

The screenshot is a great place to start off with.

That's your name, don't wear it out!
I'd suggest LMPC if you want an easy car to drive.
The default EnduRacers cars don't let you adjust brake pressures I guess. The BMW is add on, so that's probably why you can adjust it on that.

Braking is much more of a process in rFactor (Try out the WSC 1970 mod if you REALLY want to have some fun under braking). You need to be quick with your downshifts to take advantage of the engine braking in rFactor, but not too quick or you'll find yourself facing the wrong direction.
And whatever you do, DO NOT TURN BRAKE AND DOWNSHIFT at the same time.
Do you ever tend to loop around when you let OFF the brake?

You're allowed to use Traction Control, this particular mod is created specifically so you CAN use TCS. Just like in real life.

I'll get some nicer pics of the Porsche up tomorrow.

PS, rFactor is muc better with a wheel. ;)

My braking is usually done in a straight line. If I ever need to brake and turn at the same time, I lift off of the brakes and turn in slightly, trying not to exceed the tire's maximum grip. But I never downshift during it. I hardly ever face the wrong direction though. I'd lock up, squirm about a bit regaining control, then get my bearings right. It's also hard to shift directly into neutral when I do spin out (at least I think your supposed to do that).

I can go multiple laps without spinning or locking up after a couple warm-up laps, but there is that lap where I screw up and lose concentration for that moment, or misjudge big enough to run wide.

I know about the TCS, and acceleration isn't too much of a problem for me. Actually, it's least of my worries. Coming out of the final hairpin of Long Beach and I can pretty much launch out at full throttle with minimum steering input.

And I really don't have the cash for a wheel either.

From the sounds of it, it's not so much your technique.
You just need to practice. After doing hundreds of laps at Le Mans, I can tell you exactly when and how to brake, accelerate, downshift, steer, and how much rumble strips to use for every corner.
When you practice enough it will all become second nature and you won't even need to think about it.

That's how it was for me when I was practicing at Mosport. I was constantly locking up under braking, overshooting the double apex (Turns 5a and 5b). I was running the Falken Porsche there. Then I got the braking points down and was running fine from there on out. I locked up a couple of times afterwards, but was controllable.

I don't lock up the brakes as much in the C6.R. I only ran it at Lime Rock though. The version of Lime Rock I got has a chicane version, but it's at the crest of No Name Straight, not before the kink like it was at the last race a couple weeks ago.

Also, I read somewhere that you may have had to use the heel-toe technique in the GT field for rFactor. Is this true? Could this also be affecting my lockup?

EDIT: By the way, it looks like the X2010 isn't only available on GT5 anymore. I just downloaded a Red Bull X2010 mod for rFactor.

Stormy, Moss Corner (5a & 5b) @ Canadian Motorsports Park (a.k.a. Mosport) is brutal. I've been there. The elevation goes down like 15 feet and up like ten. That would certainly cause problems. Most professional drivers lift off of the throttle at T4. I've only seen/heard of 1 guy (in a Cavalier, no doubt) who brakes late; he runs Mosport faster than some GT2 cars in his Cavalier. Honestly, don't be that guy; his tires last about 10 laps...

you don't have to heel and toe, but do blip the throttle when downshifting (to match revs)

That's what I figured. Problem is, I can't blip the throttle under braking. I use a controller with a certain setup because I don't have a wheel. I can blip when I'm not braking, though. Also, I had to edit the AIW file for Lime Rock. I wish there was a version of it with the double chicane leading out of No Name.

Somebody is working on that version now, as a matter of fact.

You should, it's the single greatest thing I've ever played.

Gatrs, disregard the message I sent. Found the thread through your post history. Actually planning on running Lime Rock. What's the target lap time for our team?
