You guys aren't being very smart, you realize that? I'm looking forward to the release date as much as any other guy, but flooding a forum with the same crap over and over is really low. Info's gonna come, no need to be a dick and ignore a guy who's asking politely for you to stop.

As long as you're asking nicely, there isn't anything impolite about telling them what you want. Sure it gets repetitive but it's also a nice way for them to really gauge the demand (which is as expected overwhelming) so they shouldn't be surprised anymore :P

It's called demand, and it isn't like we're all posting "Give us GT5 news or we'll come to your house and rape your wife!" or some bs like that. You keep people in the dark long enough and this is what happens, and if he thought no one was going to ask about GT5 then he's clearly clueless.

No, but it's called being rude when a Community Director asks you directly to stop and you don't.

It's as if you guys think he's gonna spill everything on GT5 because you ask. He already knows what he can say about which product, you're not gonna change that.

Under normal conditions I would agree with you Watevaman. And I don't usually take part in these "manifestations". But I just did. I think it is a brilliant idea and I only hope this gets across all the way to Japan and that even Kaz receives a internal email about this.

So, from me ... Done! 👍

PS - And I must say it breaks my "gtplaneter" heart to check gtplanet's news every once in a while and notice that the only thing Jordan lately had to show us was a AI car avoiding a crashed human-driven car. Great as it can be, we are living on particles of bread. Pathetic.

I agree! The GT Community is FINALLY getting to vent it's frustration ( and being very nice about it). We've been through PDs delays before, but this delay is stretching all fans to the breaking point. I hope Sony can take a hint.Has ANDREW HOUSE even addressed the question yet, apart from saying some BS like "we definitely get the idea"? He didn't even offer to look into it!

Again..... silence from Sony. I feel for those mods on the site tho.

Dang, I really hope Sony can take a hint.

I agree with pretty much everything you've just said, honestly. However, if being rude even in jest finally gets the point across that we've been waiting too long for a game no less, then what's done is done. Showing us videos of how good the SLS looks in 1080p, or 8-12MP cut scene images just don't slice the bread anymore. :P

There has not been any news for a long time from PD and gamers demand answers! This stupid japanese game company zero PR thing has change sometime.

Watevaman, as an owner of a PS3, and a fan of Gran Turismo, I made one post on that forum and asked a few things about GT5. I also did so in a sensible manner, unlike a lot of the bold, huge font, "When will GT5 get released?" posts. I therefore see nothing wrong with that at all, and if loads of other people want to post the same/similar question, that has nothing to do with me. Having said that, I have no problem with the board getting flooded like that - not on this occasion.

May I ask why it is thought that Sony doesn't know the fanbase is frustrated? I imagine Sony themselves are frustrated! Don't you think Sony want the game out and creating sales for their console?

This forum consistently stinks of a bizarre way of thinking - where people seem to think its their right to have GT5 and PD are neglecting them or depriving them. I think rather than bothering Sony staff some of you should look at other interests in life.

Nothing wrong with asking this guy about GT5 of course, but the thinking behind some of the posts around here is rather disturbing.

Also, this is not very wise from a community perspective. I don't imagine you are doing the PSN forum many favours by spamming questions, it just makes it less likely to happen in future if people cannot be polite and civilised about it. How often does someone from the industry speak to the public? Not every often, and it will continue to be that way if they get treated like this.

Why would sony be frustrated? They are the ones who are most likely responsible for the current state of the game.

I see your point Ardius, but I fail to understand why you assume that any one individuals behavior towards GT5 on this site is in any way reflective of their other activities, or lack of, in their life. The irony being, you are here, on an internet gaming forum, effectively telling people to get a life...

I did ask my question in a polite and civilised manner. I cannot be accountable for the actions of other forum members, nor can I help it if lots of people are interested in the game.

My webshop has a release date now! :) Haven't seen that before. But those dates change now and then. So it's not binding or anything. It says 2010-09-30. One can only hope. I ordered and payed the game 2008-04-12 so it's just 2½ years later ;)

Something I want to know is if the PSEye head tracking (via facial recognition, natch) will allow for perspective-based 3D gaming (like what was showcased on the Wii a while back), or at least a mapped translation of the viewpoint (e.g. so you can see around the darned A-pillar!).

If so, I probably won't bother with a 3D display for a while... :D

EDIT: Come to think of it, this 3D method would actually require more sophisticated accommodation in an existing graphics engine than for a "true" 3D TV; as you move closer to and further away from the screen, the view aperture (near field cut-off) and effective FOV are constantly being updated, combined with the view angle and actual position. This is far more complex than simply rendering from two different angles, swapped each frame. Still shouldn't be that hard - what is difficult is all the calibration / setup stuff that players will have to do before using it, so that the viewscape is correctly defined for your gaming arrangement.

EDIT 2: So this stuff is definitely going to happen. Sony almost certainly has their own 6 DOF solution in hiding, which, combined with stereoscopic displays, should be very impressive - if it works on almost everbody's brain, that is ;)

woops i posted without even reading his thread

hahahahaha ... too funny! Does any1 think we've affected any change? We really did kinda hijack the thread. It's gotten really quiet over there now.

P.S. of the 19 pages of that thread, roughly 10 are dedicated to GT5 related questions. That in itself is a huge statement. Great job !

I guess you can say that we are directing our frustration to the wrong person and, well, I agree. However, it's not like we are trolling or anything. As long as we keep it clean it's fair. Anyway, I am against using big letters and that sort of thing. Just write the question there and that's enough.

Think it will all be reduced to one single question;

PSN: "We've got tons of replies basically requesting one thing, when is GT5 finally going to be released?"

Andrew House: "Sorry you know i can't be specific about any game in particular, but i'll assure all you guys, it's gonna be sooner than you might think hahaha."

Maybe, maybe not. We cannot pretend to know why GT5 is delayed or taking longer than expected. Although Sony could be playing with the dates now, I'm pretty sure they would have preferred the game to be out earlier rather than later. The way its looking now is that GT5 will be the only PS3 full-game Gran Turismo, with GT6 most likely looking at being on PS4 whenever that appears. I doubt Sony liked it that way and I think they may have been cautious in pressuring PD after the last time they did that.

Well, I was referring to an apparent need for this game, which is anything but healthy. I can't think of many things that are healthy for people to spend each day anxiously waiting for, in fact anxiously waiting isn't healthy.
I did not mean "get a life" although thats a similar theme, I did mean that people should look for other things to do rather than pester Sony people. I don't see why any video game requires so much effort and frustration.
If this was a film or a book, I would be saying the same thing - regardless the reasons for delay or whatever, it really shouldn't be such a big deal to people as it appears to be here.
At the end of the day, its an object for entertainment which is provided by someone else. It should really not be so highly placed on people's list of priorities, at least not so that people are getting emotions such as anger, frustration, etc....
And obviously I wasn't referring to the polite and civilised responses, I was attempting to avoid naming names. I used the word "some" to refer to not "all".

Hey Watevaman,

On a lot of levels I agree with you, but this isnt just one person being a 'dick'.. its a group of people demonstrating their frustration for lack of information.

I dont necessarily agree with the large & bold text demanding information, but the volume of posts I am perfectly happy with..

It's democratic - would you disagree with people protesting outside a government building? it's really the same thing.

The only thing I hope is that it doesnt tarnish GTPlanet's reputation, because that certainly wasnt my intention.

If Andrew House is a decent & balanced individual, which I'm certain he is in his position, he will only see it as a light-hearted nudge from the community to get a tidbit of information.. and hopefully something comes of it.

Agreed. But I think you're missing the point. At least I hope so. This thread is not about behaving like a spoiled child crying to get their parents to buy something. At least it shouldn't be.

What I think we are trying to achieve here is letting sony know how lousy they are taking care of GT5. At least when it comes down to advertising and dealing with the fanbase. Remember that PD said multiple times that they don't advertise the game. They make it and sony take care of the rest. Well sony isn't taking care of anything as we can clearly see. Although a in modest (when it comes to having the power to actually achieve something) and questionable way, what we are doing here is letting they know they can't neglect us. Not because they don't release the game already, but because they don't even talk about it.

All we want is the information they should have already given to us in the first place.

Totally agree 👍.

Just posted

Hope they are getting the message and will give us the release date soon (Not Sony's or Kaz's soon but our soon).
