I realize they understand we want a release date, but I don't think they realize how bad. I'm sure they know we want this game, but what they don't understand is we don't want all this extra crap along with it that's delaying the game even further. GPS track data logging, PS Move controller, head tracking, and 3D? Honestly you know how much I'm going to use any of that? I haven't even considered it. Yeah it's going to be nice, but it's pushing me further away from what I really want, the damn game

Sony needs to realize how bad we want this game, and it's more than we want these little perks they're trying to sell us too.

They're COMPLETELY leaving us in the dark. Why are we waiting until E3? I understand all eyes are going to be on them, but seriously, THERE IS NOTHING IN BETWEEN. When is the last news we got? IRL cars and tracks confirmed! Oh wait, we made a mistake they don't really have them. Hmmmmm.. NIGHT RACING CONFIRMED! But we already knew that? C'mon, this is a joke. This game isn't near 90% completed

The pride I am feeling right now is endless.

This is how fans, who are at the bottom, get their ideas/concerns to the top. It's done exactly like this; through a rally!

I love it; it's great. I love you all.

XOXOOXOXOX

That thread is quite hilarious, page 8 or 9 onwards is all GT5. Guaranteed all they are going to say is "We know everyone wants information on GT5 but currently we can't give any info, you will all know more soon."

All we want is the information they should have already given to us in the first place.

What information? Another release date so you can complain about it when it isn't met again?
They are not going to tell you a release date precisely because they cannot stick to it. And this is because developing games is an unpredictable business.

Nowadays companies are more inclined to say nothing and suffer minor backlash then say something and suffer a huge backlash because they couldn't meet what they said. A games company could reveal a feature that a few months later would have to be taken out for one reason or another - they suffer less if they say nothing than if they reveal all.
I think PD and Sony have noticed the huge amount of complaining going on about missing the supposed release dates and have decided that keeping their traps shut is a better policy.

I don't really think they have to say anything to "deal" with their fanbase - fans are such fickle people, they will complain to the ends of the earth but will buy the product anyway in the end. I'm not surprised barely any companies bother having a community presence anymore because it is always counter-productive.

I'm not in any way expecting some Sony exec to come forward in that thread and give us all the information we have been waiting for. What I'm really hoping to accomplish is to give them an extra little push to keep us in the loop and not totally ignore us. Forza gave a car reveal on every weekday leading up to release. I'm not saying I expect PD to do something along the lines of that but if they were to have a press release or 2 every month highlighting the progress they've made or some new features they have planned, it would make the wait sooo much more bearable.

What information? Basically what's going on. They gave us a release date they couldn't meet. OK, not the end of the word. But it begs the question: why? Someone said somewhere once that it had something to do with development and that's all we know. Do you think that's good enough? I don't. The game was delayed and they don't even care enough to give us a reason.

But moving on, we are also left with another question: when is it gonna be released then? Soon, that's all we know. And you know by now what that word means. Nothing. You say they don't tell us because they're afraid they won't be able to meet that new release date. I think you're right but we have to assume that's why since they won't even give us a reason why they can't give us a release date.

So what information? The most basic information. Which they should have given us right after they announced it was being postponed. There's a reason why GT5's situation is seen as a joke around the internet. And it's not PD's fault for taking too long to develop as much as it sony's fault for not being able to handle a simple release date screw up.

And just because fans are going to buy the game it means you instantly don't care about them anymore? You've got their money and that's all you need? To hell with that. If not a legal obligation, they have a moral obligation to keep us informed.

You guys aren't being very smart, you realize that? I'm looking forward to the release date as much as any other guy, but flooding a forum with the same crap over and over is really low. Info's gonna come, no need to be a dick and ignore a guy who's asking politely for you to stop.

Are you living on a cave for the last 5 years?

Whatever man, whatever...

(sorry, couldn't resist).

I think the funniest part about all this is reading the arguing within this thread about whether doing this was a immature move or not lol ;)

Key facts i think we all know..

1) The result of this will not produce any kind of production towards getting your release date

2) Arguing, and name calling, especially on a keyboard, is immature.

Whatever we do, lets always consider the name of GTP, we must stand as one and not look like fools :)

Even though it is a childish move, I don't think anyone around here is childish and naive enough to actually expect a release date out of this...

Well, i just posted there. I'm loving this. At least they are seeing how badly we want to know more stuff.

I believe it's valid because you guys might not know this, but companies (at least the ones i have experience with PR) often don't know what their consumers think/expect of them.

Channels of communication are bad, and most informations never get to the "head people that make decisions".

I believe Johnny something reads message boards and knows how we feel about GT5, but i'm not so sure this information is shared inside the corporation, that's why is so important to always voice your opinion when the oportunity presents.

We have nothing to lose here and all to gain. Posting, asking, bugging and stuff like this will not cost us anything other then bandwidth.

Of course, I just expect the attention we deserve.

Well some paranoid think this will give GTPlanet a bad reputation.
The hell with it!
What about Sony's reputation not doing and their job and completely ignoring their customers?

Who's gonna tell me now that Sony owes me nothing? I bought the Playstation 3, right? Sony owes me the answers, the info and the game I bought it for.

There might be one or two :P ... I was mainly concerned with the name calling this has resulted in within our own members... Its just sad the I can't find a topic on this site anymore without someone calling someone a dick

EDIT: because we do have children who are on this site as well. Let them learn how to not treat someone else where.

EDIT again: If you think about it, the quality of "getting along" on this site is at par with Youtube comments lol

The sad truth is, even though this is obviously not the right way to achieve what we want, this is the only way we can actually reach them. The NA PSN forums have tried time and time again to get their attention the right, adult and polite way and all they ever got back was silence and automatically generated messages.

If we have to sink down to their level for them to listen to us, I say that's what we should do. It's either that or being ignored.

"If we have to sink down to their level for them to listen to us...."

lol I dont see Sony flooding our forum's with

BET YOU GUYS WANNA KNOW WHEN GT5 COMES OUT HUH?

The "level sinking" reference is incorrect

Maybe it has aready been said, but thinking of it i would not be surprised if that long period of silence is directly linked to a more financial unknow parameter.

Let me explain myself, as we all know (even if i tend not to trust) sony is loosing money on each PS3 sold (once again Mouhahaha, this is more a big marketing affair "What a deal ! we offer you the best even if for that we are loosing money"...no comment) it would be quite judicious for them to wait until they can make profit with their 'boxes' before selling a Busting-Blockbuster game like GT5 (which is supposed to attract a large amount of new players (=new ps3)...

I might be wrong, but i feel this idea can have at least some true clues...

I believe Sony has gone past even with production cost and is now making profit (that's if you don't consider marketing costs). Hence the newer model 'PS3 Slim'

Just a month ago, it was hard to find a system in retail stores, most of the used Slims sold on auctions (eBay) for over $350-$400 (lack of supply + increase demand = higher price). I know this because i buy and sell :D E-Sellers recently got new shipment and now they're back to normal prices.

That's just an observation on my part though but Sony did mention at the end of the '08 fiscal year that production cost was slashed to 1/3.

Even though it is a childish move, I don't think anyone around here is childish and naive enough to actually expect a release date out of this...

It's no more childish than any other real-life physical protest, march, strike, or picket line. Sometimes the act of protest, and the visibility of the protest become the points of the protest itself.

I don't think that anyone would really believe he would buckle from the pressure of the question and spurt out a release date.

For all you future business leaders out there:

If, by some chance you run a company, and there is a community the size of GTP dedicated solely to discussing the product you make, and if that community organizes a protest against your company similar to what happened here, you better listen and do something about it as fast as you can. Chances are your product will not enjoy the loyalty and unique qualities that GT does...

I dont know about that^^ chances are every person who participated, although got and will get nothing from it, will still be buying GT5, even if it came out in '11 lol. The previous GT games(the product) are what keeps us coming back. The business leaders can ignore us all they want, the loyalty and unique qualities are there and built by us.

If anything for the most part Sony and PD have done the opposite by great means of what the suggestion states^^^... Bring a great product to the table and ignore the crowd all you want, they will still buy the next product. Dope sells itself

I think it's just good enough that the majority of comments have been made about GT5. It's hard enough trying to contact ANYONE about anything GT related, since it all goes through Sony and I imagine gets lost. The person who sits at the computer forwards it to someone else, and nothing is ever heard from again. In this case, hundreds (if not a thousand) people have knocked at their door demanding information, regardless of 'they know we want a release date' but they just don't know how bad. Well hopefully now they know.

The only problem is, the first moment that a legitimate rival appears to GT you will have a lot of customers that will jump ship simply out of spite. Pissing off your customers is fine only as long as they have nowhere else to go.

That was quite funny; poor old MB (the EU community mod) didn't stand a chance! He was completely run-over by GT mania! If anyone from the EU community is reading this, it isn't so much the release that we want (although we do, quite badly), as much as some information regarding its' current status, reasons for the delay; expected time frames and just an overall clarification surrounding what will hopefully be one hell of a game. I, for one, would rather a finished game in six months, than a rushed title in two. But the lack of anything is terribly frustrating.

MastrGT (who posted on page 25) is right though, despite our current state of 'rabidness', I hope this is an important step in the right direction for gamer/developer relationships.

I had typed up this massive wall of text regarding how childish all of you are but then I realized I was on a forum and that the very group of people I was addressing wouldn't bother with reading any of it.

So I simply ask you all this:

Why are you all convinced that it is PD's responsibility to continually release information about GT5's release date?

oh and
And just because fans are going to buy the game it means you instantly don't care about them anymore? You've got their money and that's all you need? To hell with that. If not a legal obligation, they have a moral obligation to keep us informed.

Moral ethics =/= Business ethics brah
