We're assuming, at the very least, that most of them will be in. Tough to say at this point.

Edit* New screens.

Really looking forward to this. :D

Also, does anyone else but myself (that's male) create female characters in games like this because you're tired of being, well, a male?

I've known Diablo for quite a few years now. :)

[OT]I see, I can only assume you're on TDU:C somewhere...? :)[/OT]

I'm just waiting for that trailer now, it should be here in a couple of days. So far TDU 2 looks fantastic, as I've probably said many times. It's taken over GT5 as the game I've been looking forward to.

I have an account there under the same name as here, but I've known Diablo on the Atari UK & FC.com forums.

Just a couple of things.

In that picture I just quoted, look at the rear wheel of the Aston, notice anything? A glow, a red or orange glow, you know what that means? The game is going to add the effect of when you brake hard, the brakes heat up and glow orange, something we expect to see in GT5.

Another thing, everyone was wondering how Ibiza would have more roads than Oahu before we got all this information. Ibiza is apparently half the size of Oahu in real life, this reinforces everyones thoughts that both islands will be in the game. I for one, am pretty sure, just from that, that both will be in.

I like the looks of things here... I think Im going to put this one on my list for sure now... Concept and everything is very cool imo... never played the first TDU... :)

You should play it, even now being old its still pretty fun, and with plenty of mods in the pc version.👍

Get the PC version. Period. The PSP version is also cool, but not as cool as the PC version. (I have both).

I think you're alone on that one.

That shot of the Integrale just sold me on this game.

Except that's the rear rotor, and I've never seen rear rotors glow orange from braking since most of the braking is handled by the front. If he was drifting, maybe, but I've never seen that either. Also glowing rotors is as far down the list of wanted features as having an open gas cap cover.

As long as the handling is up to scratch, at least on the same level as PGR 4 or along those lines I'll be more than happy.

Now this is looking like midnight club 4 minus everything about midnight club :) Give me real physics and realistic Police but not over the top GTA 5-0.

WHOA awesome pics!!! How did I miss this!!?? I would love to see an achievement for collecting everything in the game. :)

Just read this:

The 2 island are :
1.Ibiza
2. revamped Hawaii
How cool is that.
Now they just need to confirm hardcore mode.

Hmmmm. I guess I'm the odd man out here. Having never played the original, looking at some of the screen shots and reading the basic free running concept, I became more or less interested in this title.

Then I read this:
The developers at Eden Studios used actual topographic information to design the environment and recreated a number of the island's towns in detail. All the road networks are designed to be as true to life as possible, so players will feel like they're really racing on Ibiza itself. The island has a full day/night cycle (and weather effects!) which spans approximately two hours, so players will be driving their cars of choice through rainy nights and brilliant sunsets.
👍 Lovely. It sounds like they put a lot of work into the game. Although, there's always a question of the car physics and handling. To me, if they're going to go to such lengths to recreate the Island and it's roads in such exquisite detail, then I would hope the cars also handle in a realistic way. It would completely ruin things if this became 'Grid on the Road'.

But then I saw a few posted screen shots in this thread that had me wondering exactly how far they were taking the 'experience' and I started to have my doubts if I was still interested. And finally, after reading this:
But like the first Test Drive Unlimited, this sequel isn't just about racing. Test Drive Unlimited 2 is designed to celebrate a luxury lifestyle in a number of ways, from expensive cars to lavish homes. The game tells a "rags to riches" story, so players will be earning money to purchase new items, be it clothing or new cars. It's great to see a racing game that pays attention to elements outside of traditional races, as a lot of care has gone into designing the game's interior environments. These environments are feasible because Test Drive Unlimited 2 allows players to walk around the game world with their avatar in first-person. More importantly, almost any location in-game is also a location where other players can meet up and socialize.

This multiplayer functionality is an absolutely crucial part of the Test Drive Unlimited 2 formula. Players can walk around each other's homes and even peruse car dealerships together. A full set of emotes has been built into Test Drive Unlimited 2 and the game will obviously support voice chat for those with headsets available. I was impressed that players shopping for new cars will even be able to climb inside a potential purchase with another player in the passenger seat.
:odd::rolleyes::yuck: That settles it for me. 👎 To me personally, this is just the ultimate bunch of baloney. I guess I just don't get it. But indeed it fits because I think HOME is the biggest waste of time and space that has yet existed. I can see the concept of being able to 'drive' an expensive exotic car on real roads in real time. And making that concept as realistic as possible WITH certain exceptions. It's something not a lot of people will have the chance to do. And especially when one considers real life limitations such as traffic, speed limits, law enforcement, accidents...death. The game concept would allow you to experience driving that car under the most ideal conditions possible. Something that would probably never happen in the real world. But the idea of fantasizing of 'being a rich person' so you can afford to buy such a car (and or house, boat, exotic pet..whatever) is just too much. They lost me.

Am I really the only one who doesn't see the appeal in this?

It's not mandatory to do that stuff, you know.

No? I'm not sure, although I suspect you're probably right. But I'm going to go out on a limb here and say, considering the target audience they seem to be aiming for, the handling is going to be completely arcade style. And I guess that's what they're shooting for. We'll see. Perhaps I'm wrong. But I've been disappointed too many times from games purporting to be 'sim' racers that turn out to be nothing of the sort. And I don't have high hopes in that particular area for a game that doesn't make any such claims but seems to place so much emphasis on concepts which don't include actual driving. Even the author at IGN had doubts about the handling.

Just from reading that article I am already pissing myself waiting for this. I mean, driving onto the yacht? Having a passenger/ friend while test driving a car you might want? Having a refurbished Hawaii? It sounds freaking epic! I cant wait just to cruise and hoon around with mates let alone do all this extra stuff, the best bit is that it comes out in September, I should be able to get it on release.

By watching the video you see the yacht and some cars. They look epic but I see one problem. The handling looks terrible, hopefully they do what they plan on doing and fix it up because at the moment it looks pretty fake...

The realistic handling is so over-rated. If somebody wants to deliver realism, they should also deliver the g-forces. Without them there can be no realism in computer racing games. The handing in TDU was perfect for the game, so I think the handling in TDU2 will be perfect too.

Jeff I think I understand what you're saying regarding your "fears" with the concept. I actually share them. On the other hand I guess the role you'll actually play in-game (I guess) it'll be completely up to your will of choice. So I'm hoping that it wouldn't be mandatory to do that other stuff implied like going to non-sense parties and shopping for clothes, so on.

I think the right way of approaching this is considering it as a big chat room where we can meet just like we do nowadays on the PSN chat pre and post races.

Imagine how cool would it be to set up a invite-only racing pub for chating! :)

While I agree that without the additional stimulus and sensation of G-Forces on your body, the level of realism we experience in 1st person, motion related games will always be limited. But what are you trying to suggest? Unless everybody goes out and buys a commercial grade hydraulic rig costing upwards of EUR 20'000.00 that developers shouldn't even bother to design a realistic physics model? I never played TDU but using the word 'perfect' to describe the handling in ANY game is a little over the top. There's always room for improvement. And from the way the cars are moving and spinning in the promo video, it looks like there's a lot of room for improvement. But, I guess 'improvement' is relative. :dopey:

So long as you come with the right clothes. ;)

I suggest that handling should be "handled" so, that it would be possible to enjoy the game with standard controller (DS3). Try to enjoy GT5 pro physics with DS3 - impossible. For example TDU had good handling, SHIFT, GRID, FC did not.
