Hey thanks.:) But yeah, I'm with ya, we like the flippy doo's too but the story behind it was is that he bought some HID lights and then they just scattered everywhere so he got the cheapest projectors he could find(still like $300-$400 usd:scared:) But then those didn't really fit in the housing. But then again, he never really cared for the flip ups and now and in a way it makes the car look newer than it is.

Ok! More random things!
First off I decided I am going to get some S5 lights but before that I wanted to turn my S4 lights a bit darker...

Yup, thats about it. Next week I will likely be installing a pod cluster on the rex.

Thanks! But no, I SOOOO wish it was a stick. Though I don't think I would have gotten it for $800 otherwise. But at some point and time I may have to show off the MAD cup-holders.

Hey everybody my engine in the Rx7 blew up! Here is the scoop... I had JUST installed the pod mount boost gauge, got that all nice and fixed up and took it for a spin. Drove around a bit so that I could see how good it worked and while i was just driving on my way back home not under boost or anything.. Bang HerKOOOk ching...BraaaaaAAApppp breaaappp. But! You can drive with a blown engine. Which I was able to successfully do for one more mile.(wasn't that far from my house.) Then since Pat wanted a compression tester we went and got one. The rear rotor, the one that was supposed to blow, hitting about 60psi consistently. Then the front...Nothing. Just not, nothing, not even a blip. BUUUUT I am looking for another 7, so I don't plan to quit the game just yet. :) The subaru with a Flat Four, and 272,495 miles is still working, and I still have my Supersport Yamaha R6. :) So either way, this may, or may not be the end for Tak(rx7's name) Until then sit tight good buddy.

Good, as in bad, right? Sounds bloody awful. Tough break, but not terribly surpising. Just get some overnight parts from Japan.

Or you could just get new apex seals..
Yeah, A kit for all that is around $1000. But every 7 owner should have a parts car.
That actually sounds really good .
Um, well, to each their own.

Shipping might be a bit high, but I have been looking at a few JDM engines as well.

your going about this all wrong the motor sounds blown from what I hear. Apex seal kits are not 1000$ if that was the case I'd cry . Cause mines soon need rebuilding. But anywho go to Atkins rotary which is the cheapest place and buy a GASKET kit the save a little more money if you don't wanna use atkins seals and buy goopy seals. Because truth be told the cheapest jam engines are 1300 not including shipping, from a place I know. Getting a turbo rx7 low miles very impossible for a cheap price . Either way you look at it you'd still be able to afford the seals and gasket kit.

Oh yeah, I was thinking about doing the rebuild myself, but, I kinda believe the worst happened and my front housing is garbage. Likely the rotor too. And the turbo as well. So I can still get it shipped to Rotary resurrection for about $2k all in all, and then get my turbo redone for $400. So if I do find another Rx7 out there that had a rebuilt motor, then that's just what I'm looking for.

But why simply rebuild? You use these opportunities to go wild man, while the engine is apart get it ready for massive power. And port it!

NEVER assume till you crack the motor open that should be the first thing you consider doing. Then contact Jonathan at goopy and have him resurface the rotors for you . But your gasket kit costs 495 and goopy seals are around 300

Yeah, going wild can get complicated. And expensive. My buddy says I should just get another turbo and ditch the twin scroll system I would just have to find one that would hook up with my exhaust. I suppose, but at the same time I like things being easy.:dunce: As far as porting it goes Mazdatrix says that I may only see a 10-25 Hp gain on my engines and that 12As responded much better to porting.
And don't you even dare to consider a pushrod V8 swap or anything stupid like that.
:tup:I like my spinning triangles, plus, then I would have to get rid of my rotary shirts!:dopey: So do not fret about that sir.

I hear ya, assuming makes an ass outta u and me, but the turbo has a bit more play in it than before. However, thanks for letting me know about them.:) I like having options.👍
I say again, if you rebuild, it needs moar brap brap.
Like more rotors? Let me come into some money and I will drop a 20B in there.

Well anyways onto what hath been going on. Bad week for anything car related it seems.:ouch:Obviously Mr. Shelby passed away, R.I.P. My mom's car got hit and was totaled out. So she went from this:

To:
20120513_204939.jpg

A 2000 Town car with everything her last car had anyway, plus the sunroof she wanted. Although my Sister and her husband made a big stink about it being RWD. They were all like, "don't call us when you end up in the ditch during the winter". I just cant understand it since my mother is handicapped anyway and never drives when there is a flake of snow on the ground.

But then my dad felt like he should upgrade too from this:
20120512_195059.jpg

^that was damaged a few months ago though. To this:
20120508_181415.jpg

And it turned out that it had a bad alternator right away so we fixed that.

^crazy intake IMO.
Then some vehicles got washed:

(still need new tires:grumpy: )

Many LOLZ were had.^
And then we took off the electrical tap and night shaded the bit on the subie:
20120514_194152.jpg

And finally just started to take apart the engine.

But, I still have no idea where I'm goin at this point. :nervous: I think I will just go with the flow.

No, more brap brap as in porting. I know of plenty of 13B turbos with various porting, a guy I knew back in NZ had an RX3 with a 13B turbo Bridgeport and it sounded and went amazingly. But a Bridgeport would probably be too wild for your application. If they are saying don't bother, meh whatever then, but its obviously a different story with the rotary boys over here. Mild street ports/ race ports are pretty common.

I even know of a peripheral ported 13B turbo that was street registered and it was crazy. So loud, so much over lap it sounded great but power delivery was all over the place lol

EDIT: Do a YouTube search on 13B Bridgeport and you will see what I'm talking about when I say Brap Brap. The idle due to the overlap sounds great!

An overlap is a fancy way of saying street port also if he wants to spend a whole lot more in gas then a bridge is for him. Hey punknoodle where are you from because I wanna go their it sounds like rotor land and thatman to make you happy il post the pics of my7.

I got her as a bday gift and Im 2nd owner.

Huh? Overlap isn't a fancy name for street port, it refers to the time that the exhaust port and inlet port are exposed at the same time. On a stock port this is close to nil, then as you go bigger with porting, like a street port, j port, bridge port, peripheral port etc you obviously get more overlap, making it very loud, with poor fuel economy too but the potential for massive power.

I'm originally from New Zealand, which is Rotorland - there are rotangs everywhere, stuffed into vans, Starlets, 323s, everything lol. I'm in Australia now, there are still a lot of rotarys here but nothing like NZ.

@mazdaman
Take care of the emissions if you can get away with it, N/A's look  without that stuff. Anyway. 👍

@punknoodle
I got ya now, yeah, here is what I read about it.

That and again, Im just trying to make it a good "solid" car. :)

Fair enough, your call, but I know what I'd be doing if the engine was apart anyway and it's not a daily driver. I'd be bridge porting the little guy.

Well basically you could follow them:

Since they were just the steelies I didn't use primer nor did I get them really sanded down. But I used lots of coats of the green and then a few good coats of gloss. :)

Here is a video:

pictures later:)

May as well build a monster then. Extra dowels, ported, new rotors. Can't be that much extra while it's all apart anyway

For that route I can take it to turblown I believe he was going to charge 3400 to rebuild so I'm guessing he would take care of that. But I dont quite have that much $$$ on hand.

dowel pins are use but goopy has something better and stronger. It's called oversized bolts instead of using all of those long bolts with the oversized one you use only 5 . You have to do some drilling of course but they work.
