OMG FLAMVE on GTP?! Oh NOES!
and the Eclipse is the fun car, kinda what I started my thread with.
IMAG0599.jpg

It has like a bunch of fun stuff.

Right O. So while Im going to to the exhaust, alternator and the Ecu before I do rims and tires; I like to know the direction I'm heading.

So keep in mind im not trying to spend more than $600 and I'm trying to make my car resemble the FC in Initial D.

These I thought were good but they have that BLUE lip on them and I would have to cover that up.
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...lse&filterNew=All&filterWeight=All&sort=Price
These don't look like them at all and I would have to paint them white but they are cheap.

These are the ones I think look most like the ones on the show but they are pushing the budget and they would maybe have to be painted white...no they would.

These are cheap and would have to be painted.

Anyway tell me what you think, or If you know some other ones that fit my budget let me know.

Also since I want to put 225 on all fours as it is now, and General Tire doesn't make that size in their Exclaim UHP tire I am looking for some new ones as well. Keep In mind that I wont be driving this in the winter so I don't need all seasons and I don't want to spend more than $500 on tires. And yeah I will be looking on tire rack and discount but some member input would be cool too.(yes I know about that thread too)

Hmm, to keep with the whole Initial D theme you'd ideally want white wheels, with fat spokes and a bit of lip...

I don't know what the prices are like for Rota wheels in the US, but I believe they are quite a cheap brand that make a lot of look-a-like rims, and they seem to have a fairly strong customer base and the rims don't look crappy. Heres a link to their website, they have a rim which is CLOSE (well, closer than some of the ones you found) to the ones from Initial D, just not as rounded in the spokes, but the spoke is fat like Initial D. You could probably afford them and pay to get them powder coated in white (white not listed in available colours unfortunately)

Look for the ones called P-45R on this page.

Yeah those look REALLY close but at the same time, I'm not finding them for lower then $800, but who knows maybe I may find a deal on ebay. Thanks for the suggestion!

No wuckas. I'll keep my eyes out for similar designs on my Internet travels.

Take it from me though, it's worth waiting and saving if you find a set of wheels you REALLY like but are a bit more than your budget, because in the end, unless your old rims are damaged, there is no point in rushing these things because you might as well do it once, do it right. If you settle, you'll regret it. Just save that little bit longer :)

Those Rotas are knockoffs of Nismo wheels.... Nismo......Nissan......

Anyway, 17x7? Are you kidding me?

At least get some decent sizes, if you aren't willing to get decent wheels.

XXR and MB wheels come in great sizes and can be had for around $500 a set.

EDIT: I think you're a closet ricer, but suppress it because GTP would disapprove or something.

EDIT #2:
The FC from Initial D ran Watanabes, Work Equip, and Panasport G7-C5C2.

Yeah I hear ya, I'm not planning on rushing, just "scouting". Like I said I like to know what I need.( "need") In fact after I got my Turbo 7 I asked what I should do for the exhaust at the Rx7 club and I wouldn't be getting an Ecu upgrade if I didn't ask them.

Continental ExtremeContact DW's are supposed to be very good for their class of tire and they don't break the bank. Andy Hollis said they're nearly as fast as Hankook R-S3s around a circuit and are much better in the wet. And since they're not a 200 treadwear autocross tire, they'll probably wear pretty well.

And don't go with cheap wheels...

Cool thank you very much, I may just pick them. 👍

:)

Anyhow, what size do you think I should go with?

And the Watanabes, I think those were on the 8-6.

Anyhow I also found these, I think they may be "close" http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fi...=1987&pc=71599&wd=17&rw=&vid=006201&rc=MNRINT

Then in other news, I have a rear wiper again!:D

Thanks yall for the input!

Hey! I happen to like my knobs! Gives me something to feel for when its dark.

But really good to know, thanks. Maybe I will pick some rims from them. Then I could just go to the one 2 miles away.

you could probably pick up a nice set of wheels used for around 600 instead of buying cheap wheels that just as big as the stock sizes. your car would look way better with the arches filled out more.

Crappy pic, but:

I think you need to go at least with a 17x8, less than 35 offset. You can fit a 9 on an FC, but I don't think you're willing to do fender modifications.

As a reference point, Keef is going to be running a 17x9 +22 on his car. It needed a bit of fender work, but only because he's running a massive tire as well.

Well I'll be, and in black to boot! I never remember seeing those in the manga, oh well point taken.

Anyhow, your right, I dont want to rent a fender roller,(or buy one) But if I'm going with a 17x8 I could likely go staggered with a 215/45R17 up frond and a 235/45R17 in the back right? Then I suppose offset comes into play. Mazda really engineered the front shock funny.

Yeah I agree, won't do anything for looks unless you pump the rims also. Which you should. Because in a rear wheel drive, you can do it easily and it looks rad

Yeah I know it looks cool, but I forget off the top of my head what Flamve has on the back of his.

If you do plan on staggering, you would need 235/40/17 on the rear for it to look right.

Hmmm, I forget off the top of my head what Flamve has on the back of his... yeah right, you know damn well what my tires are
and I come here to watch your though process unfold in front of others, it is quite amusing.
That is all

So you^ bought this "Joop".

Just so everyone knows...

And This is my interior with the smell of imminent death.
IMAG0680.jpg
