Haha it's Eiger, bet PD will never put that view in GT5!

Beetles are sometimes called "living jewels" because of their iridescent colours. This image is a close-up of the surface of a tiger beetle's wing case; the optical effects are produced by photonic crystals and sophisticated reflectance mechanisms.

This solargraph shows the path taken by the sun as it travelled across the sky above the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, UK, between 19 December 2007 and 21 June 2008 - the winter and summer solstices. It was taken in a single six-month exposure by photographer Justin Quinnell, using a pinhole camera strapped to a telephone mast.

Man, that "ice entrance" picture is just amazing!

I also wonder how they made that Eiger picture? Was it all radial blurred in photoshop or are there cameras which such long shutter speeds?

Most cameras with any amount of manual control, including my 4 year old Dimage Z2, will allow you to have an exposure of 30 seconds.

Hmmm, I have stood on the Clifton Suspension Bridge a couple of times when the sky has actually looked very similar to that. Nothing to do with long exposures on pinhole cameras rather long exposure to over indulgence at house parties!

Thanks for sharing the Boston ones with us. After a dice with death in the surf earlier this year, the one of the surfer sends shivers down my spine!

Did he get pulled by a jetski? I can see the handle or how it's called in the top left corner.

Yes, to get out that far, they are towed. They'd be too tired to surf otherwise!

They also get 'toed-in' into the wave, on account it moves too fast to paddle into, which is why that sport is called 'toe-in' surfing. Oh, and that wave would most likely kill you if you wiped out on it.

Was that picture taken at Mavericks in California? The waves there are huge, the water is ice cold, and it is one long paddle out to the point. Anyway, cool picture. Do you have any more?

It has had its time and is begging for the heavens too take it in so he can be with his mates:D.

While that is rather large, there have been much bigger waves surfed.

Anyway someone could rescale that to 240x320 ? btw without dissorting, would rather cut a bit out to get the proper aspect ratio..

Woah, I didn't know Earth was able to rotate that much in 30 seconds :dunce::P
