👍 Amazing image(s)... makes you think about how easy it would be to detect a light signal or a radio broadcast coming from some alien civilisation, based on one tiny planet coming from within something like that... It also makes you wonder what our own supercluster looks like from that distance... probably not a great deal different.

You might like the latest issue of Astronomy magazine. It appears that astronomers have finally worked out the exact shape of our galaxy after years of studying it. It's the main feature article in the issue. I haven't bought it myself but it's one of those magazines I wish I had the money to buy a subscription for...

I wish they would release before and after shots.

The Hubble link I posted in that previous post does actually show how they compose the images from the different colour spectrums. They show it for numerous other galaxies and nebluae too.

Those are some big fish. Not trying to be funny or anything either.

Any clue as to where that windfarm is? The sky looks too blue to be the one just off the coast of Morcambe on the West coast of England! I think there are more turbines in that pic too - I seem to remember Morcambe bay has 30 or 40-odd.

PhD student Tao after facial plastic surgery to remove a massive facial mole, left, taken on Sept. 23, 2009 and before the surgery, right, taken on March 24, 2008, both in the hospital in Hangzhou in east China's Zhejiang province.

No lame superhero mask jokes, please.

Dust storms in Sydney yesterday

Yes, It was like that, and if fact worse earlier in the day. I was doing to take shots, but I wanted to look after my sensor.

The weird thing was that reflections coming from cars were actually blue (or should I say normal colour, but just looked blue) - and for once, my car had xenons!!!....but then they went away .
