I have an absolutely fantastic idea for you.

Stop watching the show? đź’ˇ

I watch the show in the hope it turns out good. These 5 episodes certainly haven't been all bad, but they're not even been as good overall as the last few seasons. Hopefully they find their way.

I'd say the first one and the last one have been as good as anything top gear related the last few seasons, the rest I agree.

I'm sure they are reading the feedback. Like reaction to The American has been overwhelmingly negative, he wasn't in episode 5. Now it could be coincidence and he never was meant to be, with no car tests, but I'd hope it's also a reaction to viewer feedback. Get rid of Braincrash for series two, keep Conversation Street more like the format of 'the news' and they're on their way.

With so many people likely to be buying Prime solely for this, I think they're going to do their best to make sure they listen to feedback, they can't afford to lose too many people given the budget.

I usually try to watch the first 5 episodes of a new show to give it a chance, so this was an important one for me.

That being said, this was another ok episode. Good enough for me to keep watching, anyway.

I heard the Braincrash was like that to avoid possible lawsuit by BBC if they do actual celebrity interview instead.

Since they stated no one enjoyed the celebrity stuff in the first episode, why do they even bother doing anything like it??

They've been hinting at it but it seems like an excuse, you can't copyright the basic concepts of a TV show. BBC don't have exclusive rights to "Interviewing a celebrity during a car related show".

Technically, the format can be copyrighted - and Clarkson did sell Top Gear to the BBC for oodles of cash, which I imagine included the format.

He did say during the Whitby filming that Conversation Street was to get around the fact that the lawyers determined that they couldn't have a News segment and call it News. And I'm told that the Brain Crash machine - a hand-eye coordination and multi-tasking test system used by the RAF - does actually exist, so I'm wondering if it'll lead up to some kind of big thing at the end of the season.

It should have been noted that Jeremy Clarkson isnt exactly quits BBC. He (and his colleagues) still can work on BBC if he want to, just not on Top Gear. I can recall he still hosts a seasonal comedy show on BBC, not sure what's the name.

He doesn't have a BBC contract and only appears on BBC shows produced by external agencies - such as Have I Got News For You (Hat Trick) and QI (Talkback/Quite Interesting).

...So, now that I've seen the first couple of episodes, I'm not entirely sure what to think of it.

On one hand, it was nice to see the trio doing a "car" show once more. But on the other.... it was a bit hard to see where all the extra budget had gone into. I mean, the slick production value and all that are present and correct but, it's not any appreciably more... filmy than the later episodes of TG. Maybe it's the 4K thingy - I did hear that's costly to produce, but whatever.

I'm especially disappointed by the so-called Eboladrome or whatever it is called. It looks terribly unexciting, to be honest.

Truth to be told, if I was told this was a new season of TG, then I'd have believed that person.

BTW, that opening bit in the South African episode, where a group of people is dancing in the streets? Nope, that's pure fantasy. Doesn't happen in real life.

This is a milestone in The Grand Tour's history: it's the first episode I have watched completely without touching anything but the pause button. If I had payed for Prime I would've been livid about the quality of the first four episodes but this is the first time on the series I've thought "Yeah, this could work, perhaps Clarksy didn't 🤬 it all up when he punched that Oisin fellow".

Even the "Celebrity Brain Crash" segment wasn't that crap since it included Golden Earring although, it makes you wonder, why the 🤬 do they still insist on it? It wasn't funny the first time, it wasn't funny the second time, it wasn't funny the third time, it wasn't :censored:ing funny the :censored:ing fourth time and, guess what, IT WASN'T FUNNY THE FIFTH TIME!!! Still, somehow, someone on the show thinks it'll be funny the sixth time and well, the outcome will be obvious.

I'm also glad they're bringing back the "Let's do something stupid with a V8" segment and found the banter on the roadtrip to be as good as it was back in the day. It was no "Lightened Supercars on the Alps" or "Supercars in France", which are my absolute favourites but it was quite good.

And, by the way, I'm amazed at how much I'm agreeing with Hammond lately. WTF? I thought James and I were soulmates and now this? :(

But do you agree with the real Hammond or the fictional character Hammond? If it's the latter, I'd worry.

With whichever Hammond chose to crash their "Grand Tour" with a Hellcat and picked a Miata, although, I barely know who the real hammond is.

The makeshift scale getting destroyed was not part of the script.

I had a feeling that scene was unscripted. Always nice to see that sort of stuff happen (well, not in the magnitude of something like Hammond's accident a couple of years back).

One thing I forgot to mention, Hammond is a pretty decent driver, it's always fun watching him push cars.

This was the best episode by far! The Mustang vs Focus RS was awesome. The chase scene was really good. The script was trying too much to be funny. You can script natural humor which was what made the original show good. You can see Clarkson smiling when at the end of the drag race. I was really hoping the celebrity would survive this time but oh well. I wonder how much he was paid to fake his death. The GT40 film was beautiful. More of that please.

If the producers can use their nice shiny budget to do more shows like that, instead of digging holes in a field with JCBs, that would be great. Top show, best TGT/ TG in many a season.

Also my gad, Clarkson is getting fat. Looks like he swallowed a watermelon whole.

Holy 🤬 that was a great episode, one of the best in the last few years, the Le mans segment was perfect.

Haven't seen the latest episode, will watch that tonight but did see last week's today, enjoyed it đź‘Ť

The films were good, the in-studio stuff just went on for far too long. Geldof on a stick? Why?

Best bits from Clarkson Top Gear, meshed into one.

Ferrari P3 bit intrigues me. My best looking car yet and reminded me from GT5 era, especially the price: 20 million pounds, just like GT5/6! (In cr. yes but still).

Could be the best episode of Clarkson's hosted show yet. Still not as good as the SAAB episode from Top Gear which I believe the best of the best.
