Okay, I'm watching the newest episode now and I love it. Jeremy chased Richard around just to annoy him, fricken hilarious!

Sniffpetrol tweeted they'll do an even bigger historic segment like GT-40 one, glad they're listening that was really good.

Agreed with everyone here. Latest episode is their best. I thought the Focus vs Mustang segment ended quite abruptly (was expecting Hammond to retaliate and show Clarkson you don't need a drift button in a Mustang because it's...well...RWD). The Ford vs Ferrari though was pure masterpiece. I've read the story many times in the past but hadn't known that Ford came so close to sealing the deal. Wonder how much they paid La Sarthe & Ford owners to shoot the vid though. Conversation street and the xmas gift segment was properly funny too. As for a certain Finn...let me just say BWOAH :P

IMO, I think we can narrow it down to 3 things that the trio are good at and should stick with for future GT episodes:
- Beater car challenges (more chance of things going wrong = more chance of unscripted comedy)
- Epic road trips (with beater cars, occasionally supercars)
- Proper enthusiast movies like Ford v Ferrari

Lose The American. Lose Brain Crash. You'll have a winner 👍

@LeGeNd-1 I second that motion.

Brain Crash... at first I thought it was only for the first episode, but this endless tirade of "killing" them off became stale fairly quickly.

Mike Skinner's persona is annoying, to say the least. His lines aren't even remotely funny. I hope they change that in the next season. Either keep him and get a new persona for him or find a new driver.

Overall I like the show but they need to stop being repetitive in the studio, err, tent.

Brain crash could actually be really funny if they interviewed the guests, let them do a timed lap and then "kill" them off as we have seen in the show. Otherwise it's just a case of them saying "look how much $$$ we got to just invite guests and then kill them after 10 seconds". Then again BBC doesn't want them interviewing guests so...just lose the whole thing altogether.

I wonder how feasible it is to recruit someone that can provide decent commentary on the car's performance while driving. Maybe get a retired F1 driver. David Coulthard? Hill? Stewart? Would be interesting to see an informative lap instead of making it a joke everytime.

Also my gad, Clarkson is getting fat. Looks like he swallowed a watermelon whole.
I'd say it was the rather predictable result of the serendipitous meeting between a man who will punch people who fail to deliver him a steak and amazon's budget.

Its a great show, apart from that episode 2,...

Are these amazon shows going to be available to buy on dvd sometime, I do have prime but my streaming speed isn`t great so the first 5 minutes or so are like watching a blocky 240p youtube video...and if I rewind or whatever, the same real bad quality again for a few minutes, same with man in the high castle, quality is terrible on that a few times throughout an episode..the beginning credits can hardly read the writing....

I'm going to say that I liked this first season of "The Grand Tour", but it can be a better show. I would like for them to get rid of "Celebrity Brain Crash" as that gag feels forced and is just unfunny. "The American" indeed needs to go, I preferred their previous idea when they brought back Ben Collins. I hope to see challenges in the future using aged cars like in the past. Lastly, I would like to see "conversation street" last a bit longer than usual; it's one of my favorite parts of the show.

The Series is great and all, just wished they would do some 3rd world adventure already, using budget cars.

Another thing I forgot to mention (mods if this is against AUP please delete):

When James revealed the slogan on the you-know-what, I was expecting his trademark phrase "Oh c*ck"

According to their wikipedia page the next 2 episodes (30 & 31 December) is supposed to be the Namibia special. They're going to be using buggies though so not budget cars :indiff:

I've heard that they can't use budget cars for challenges and road trips anymore because that format of the show is copyrighted by the BBC, just like SIARPC. That would be a disaster if it's true :(

Homophobia seriously?

That would be to imply being gay is bad, but he didn't say that, he was just talking nonsense about something no one agrees with lol.

Who the hell really thinks eating ice cream makes you gay lol.

I've just watched the clip in the linked article & while he didn't actually say it was bad to be gay, I agree with the campaigner quoted as saying it panders to prejudice.

Edit:
Having said that, I say terrible things in humour that I wouldn't enjoy hearing from somebody who actually believed in what they were saying.
I hope only to do it in front of people who I think will understand that I'm either making a joke or being stupid to parody either myself or other people.
Comedy comes first if there's a scrap or more of genuine humour, not so if it's just an insult & nothing else.

I think in Hammond's case here, there's possibly a level of it being a joke that I just didn't get but it's more likely that it's just bad writing.

Disappointed James May never mentioned that Ken Miles was cheated out of the Enduro triple in '66 (Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans) by his own team at Le Mans that year.

But it was nice to see the driver from my home town get talked about as I never thought he'd ever get mentioned on something high profile like this.

It's funny though because when GT has a bad joke people complain "The show's too scripted!!!" But when they say something controversial like this they believe the hosts actually mean what they say and wants their neck.

By now everyone should know that nothing the trio says should be taken seriously. If you do you're just adding fuel to the fire. I expect them to make fun of this whole kerfuffle in the next studio episode

Finding the show pretty decent but, it's not as brilliant as I thought it was going to be. Seems like they're still going along the path of Top Gear in its last couple of seasons with CHM where they make a few episodes that are, as they say "catering to the FinalGear set" and then there's those 1 or 2 eps (looking at you, Operation Desert Stumble) that...aren't.

The problem I find with that is, I found they were doing really well in prior seasons of Top Gear at actually blending the two together (and the latest episode of TGT is a reminder of that) so I don't understand why they feel the need to segregate them.

The two-parter special I hope is going to be the prime specimen (I'll get my coat) of The Grand Tour.
