Movie laumched here now.

Launched here this morning. The lines just to get into the malls were insane.

This movie might break box office records... (however much or little those actually mean)... I've got tickets to a block screening tomorrow, but the kids are down with something nasty, and we might not be able to go.

Predict this will be the 2nd biggest release on April after Furious 7, a little bit.

If by "2nd biggest take in April", you mean... it'll earn less in April because it was launched at the end of April, you might be right.

I don't doubt this new Avengers movie will gross over $1b. $1.5b certainly seems possible. No matter how big FF7 is, the Avengers franchise has hit some kind of family friendly nerd/geek chord, and expectations are literally sky high.

You know that it's projected to take $1.5 billion, right?
But an farewell to a deceased attracts more audience than simply a geek movie, at least the demographics say so.

Also, the projection is a bit useless now since FF7 is now at $1.2+B, and that is just for 3 weeks.

I'd hardly call Age of Ultron a geek film, given that it's one of the most anticipated films of the year. The "farewell to the deceased" argument sounds like a fanboy argument.

Drop the kids off somewhere and go watch the movie. Easy fix. :D

I'm going to a photoshoot... and might just go to a car launch, instead. Might as well make money rather than spend it.

I can always catch it on the weekend... when... hopefully... the kids are better.

While a bit harsh, I'd agree, in general. The "farewell" nod in FF7 matters... but it matters simply to those people who already knew who Paul Walker was, and who cared about him. Whether he died or not, I think the movie was well on its way to at least $1b, simply because it was a highly anticipated blockbuster. FF6 almost hit $1b. And it didn't have a compelling villain like Jason Statham to bring in extra viewers.

The Avengers has a wider demographic appeal, and the build-up to it has been immense. It'll be interesting to see which feature wins the box office for the year. I'd say it could go either way. Both movies have got a good thing going... as neither opened up against a strong contender.

Perhaps DC was wise to push Batman ft. Superman back a year... failing to hit $1b in a year when two movies potentially hit it in ridiculously short periods of time would be embarrassing.

We are not nerds sir, we are good people that from occasion to occasion geek out.

Avengers might break box office records, at least until Episode VII.

Just imagine the money castle they would be able to build with all that money.

Plus, there is the new Pixar movie Inside Out coming in June, which will probably also rake in a nice pile of cash (there are also a few other Disney movies which could end up being huge).

DisneyLand will be expanding to all of Florida and part of Georgia at this rate.

I saw it this afternoon. I was surprisingly disappointed by it. It wasn't particularly bad, but it wasn't great, either.

Whedon tries to pull the same trick that was so successful in The Avengers, but once I spotted the sleight-of-hand, it started to unravel.

The first problem is that it's an ensemble film that tries to introduce a whole new set of characters. But finding something for everyone to do is taxing at times, and some of them tend to drop out of the story for extended periods of time. The end result is that everyone learns bits and pieces independently of one another, and then fight one another to see who gets to do what they think is right. Thor is perhaps the only character who understands everything that happens, but it's based on his understanding of the rules of the universe, not a human's understanding.

Secondly, Ultron is a problem. For one, he looks like a machine, but he acts like a human, and I found it quite jarring at times. I get that he was a dark parody of Tony Stark's way of thinking, but he didn't need to have Stark's humour to pull that off. The bigger problem is that Whedon over-plays him early on, building him up as an omnipresent threat, and then ignoring that aspect of him. He is supposedly a hyper-intelligent AI, but he repeatedly makes stupid decisions - why, for instance, didn't he leave one unit behind in case he lost? Whedon's solution to this is to introduce the Vision, at which point the film stops trying to make sense and just becomes a Michael Bay film. Ultron really needed some legwork in another film - he probably should have been set up in Iron Man 3 (which centred on Stark reconciling with his inability to save everyone).

In all honestly, I suspect studio interference here. Whedon is a comic book guru, and a better story-teller than this. The first half of the film is definitely the stronger, and had it been allowed to play out, I suspect Ultron would have killed Stark halfway through, the rest of the team falling apart - probably with Thor leaving to chase the other Infinity Gems - and the second wave of Avengers stepping in. But I suspect that would not have been popular with the studio.

SPOODERMAN IS OUT OF CAGE!

WHAT!! That's was not on mine screening

Did you guys here, that Disney is planning on global conquest, via having us fall in love with all their movies and then taking over with the billions and billions of cash they made from said movies....that's before we count their other cash cows.

Watch out Exxon Mobil and Apple.

Sorry guys. Its actually either fake or deleted scene.

A Youtube comment say this:
Just my opinion. I think this is a leaked post-credit scene of AoU to announce that Spiderman is already joining MCU, and ready for Captain America: The Civil War. But, Marvel Studios and Sony haven't found the actor to represent the role on Spiderman. So, this scene is actually deleted from the film. I have seen Avengers: Age of Ultron. And there's a strange gap between the last copyright title on the credit and "THE AVENGERS will return" title, if you can notice it. And this video was taken on theater, if you can notice that too. Besides, no one can animate Avengers Tower and SpiderMan very well with the NY background except a professional enterprise studio like Industrial Light and Magic (ILM), who worked on the visual effects of this film :D

Plus, its weird to see a "fake", but majority likes. Something something?

They already built it.

Disney World.

I've been playing Marvel Contest of Champions on my phone and they had a huge update yesterday that added special Ultron missions and a large overhaul to make it look like Ultron infiltrated the system. The special missions are supposed to be you aiding The Collector ,who runs the contest, to prevent Ultron's takeover. Marvel is going all out on marketing for Ade of Ultron, as he was supposedly added to all the Marvel games out there right now.

I just saw the movie. All things can be done. This will never end. The world is better for it.

I'm just glad The graphics just get better and better. The film seemed more like the in between films like iron man and Thor. There is so much to tell, they have to set things up some how. Plus, they have to save some things for the other films( Black Panther, Civil war , Ant Man, etc).

Another thing is the increased tech. Marvel have to show people that don't know a thing about the comics, what is possible. First we see how smart Stark is, then bring myth and legend to reality, then show how tech advances with Cap'n America, then show how other worldly being exist in Avengers. The greater public have to see and believe this to get them to "invest" money in theatres.

Now that the general public know these things exist in the MCU, it's open season on all stories. Sorry it gets compacted or deleted or altered for those of us that follow comics and good story telling, but all I have to say is, I'll keep buying tickets and the blu-rays as long as Disney don't give Michael Bay the keys.
