The lens got replaced, but I got a friend to repair it, he's a genius when it comes to things like these. Sending it to Sony was not even being considered as it takes about a month or so before you get it back again + it's pricy (I've read and heard).
It only worked for a month though so I bought a new one afterwards as soon as the symptoms came back. Won't recommend you to do something that may or may not be right.

In my case the disc wasn't found meaning the Blu-ray lens got broken, because it had no problems with PS2 games. Two things could've been wrong: GT5 was too harsh on the lens or something in my PS was breaking the lens.

You just get the message that an error has occured? If that is the case then it's not the exact same thing - maybe there's still hope that it'll make it :)

Looks like the older ps3s are prone to these sort of problems.

I might just opt to get the new slim ps3 and sell this one off to a friend.
Sounds like it'll be a reoccurring prob. Hate being frustrated by little technological hassles.

It's strange that GT is the only game that causes this. Thats really weird. I'm assuming it'll stop loading all games eventually, like it did with yours...as it can't be that the lens has game preferences.

The error msg shows up every time, but there are instances where the game refuses to show that the CDs been loaded too.

Let's see what happens tonight.

Lol awesome dude, it probably looks great in orange. Can't wait to see it.

I'm gonna get the slim soon. Sooner if it refuses to work today.
Going to goto the shop to discuss the prob with the dealer 1st thing after work.
 
Can't say I've had any problems with my slim, and I've run several 24hr races by now (I'm on my last one now). I always wait for a combination of a) new GT game and b) slim console. I waited to buy a PS2 slim when GT4 came out, and waited again for the PS3 slim and GT5. I suppose I have another 5 years+ before I see the PS4 slim and GT6/7.

Still, It's always a good idea that everyone keep a backup of their saves.

chappy 2J, ford GT LM, vette ZR1 RM are a few good choices for the american

german touring: CLK touring, Lexus ISF racing concept are good ones.

the audi r8 LMS or CLK-GTR/LM would be good choices too, but i got those cars quite recently, and kinda remember reading they wernt allowed entry for some reason.

Doesn't matter which one, both are awesome and will easily do the trick for you. That's why I would recommend the prize car, to save you the 3.2 (I think) million credits.
 
Thanks bombe32. I already have the ford gt price car so i guess i'm going to use that instead. Good thing i still have not purchased the test car
 
it is pretty pointless to buy the test car since you have the SpecII. But i do really like it for aesthetic reasons.

looks like the ps3 was in a good mood today. didnt messup a single time. restarted GT about 6 times (sending/duping cars and whatnot). thats probably not a good thing for the system. reloading again and again...
 
Oh snap... With the newest update, you can no longer trade million+ credit cars :(

I haven't updated yet, but I think that about ends our "send a car to Storm to test" fun.
 
I was getting ready to send your 3 cars over the next 3 days. I double checked the car that I was supposed to send and their all a million+. I was going to send Storm a FTO ST Yellow but its 1.9 million.
 
what, really? that sucks. I thought the FTO was under a mil... :(

so that also means i cant transfer my cars from the other account? daaaamn!!
 
Yeah I guess it was fun while it lasted, at least it worked long enough for you and Bombe to get most of your comparison tests done...

Also glad I transfered back my Jag XJR9 from my other account a couple of hours ago, the people I feel for are those that weren't duping but let someone borrow their legit F1s or Ford Mark IV or Ferrari 330P, no way for the person who borrowed it to return it.
 
Just verified that I cannot send the FTO. Maybe the UCD prices increased as well with the last update. I will attempt to verify later on.
 
Man, this is bad news to wakeup to. I really wanted to setup an account with just my online racing cars. Just didn't get the time with trading going on side by side.

And was really looking forward to getting the yellow and orange FTO :(

I hope they undo this in the next update, or at least increase that cr. Limit.

I thought Japanese guys were trading/sending types and the Chinese were the communist-sharing ones...strange :lol:

Just speculation, but perhaps it's because a used car's price is lower than the value of it. As a new car its value would have been 1.9 instead of 0.9 and that's what the game is using to set its value, thus making it unable to get sent.

Still doesn't like the limit as long as the cash rewards are so silly... especially after the 1.06 update where it was decreased to the original level again. Oh man, this means that I will have to find the red R8 and the red FGT myself AND have enough credits to get them.... good luck to me :dunce:
 
I'm thinking the MSRP of the FTO was 1 million, and not 1.9. Used would be less than a million, but if it goes by MSRP/Value, then that would make sense why it can no longer be traded. There are a few others like that as well.

I know what you mean about the FGT. I'm actually stuck with a second one now. I finished the endurances and got a FGT for my lvl 24 ticket. What are people supposed to do with these multiple cars? I've also got two Jay Leno tanks that are completely useless...

They still gave us GT5, not too bad at all. GT4, GT3, GT2 and GT1 were pretty good as well ;)

But I can understand some people's frustrations, especially those who couldn't send the car they promised while they had already received one from the other person. Coming so suddenly isn't a surprise though - punishing people :D

In future a new trade feature should be very welcome and I think they maybe are making one. One where two people can trade cars within ~500k of each other's value max so that no one will get scammed or cheat with sending X1's for Subaru 360's.
 
People have been able to send high value cars in the last little bit, and there's a rumour that the limit has been temporarily lifted... not sure for how long, though. For people expecting to return a car to a friend, better do it now! :D
 
^oh really? i hope this is true.. and permanent. I dont mind the 1 car/day limit. the cr limit sucks

send me that yellow/orange FTO lol :D
