The best GT5 cars according to stormbringer!

Nice list, but I must say I haven't driven the scuderia yet and a lot of the cars on that list. But so far no road car I've driven or raced online can touch my fully tuned 458 Italia. It's hard for me to imagine the scuderia is better, so I will give it a try, but the 458 italia is not just good in this game, it is a phenomenal road car.

And as far as the ZR1 RM, it's a really fast car, but it understeers like a pig no matter what you do. You can't just mash it when you come out of corners because it will not turn at all. It is still very fast, but it's not easy to drive at all. But if it was more neutral handling, it will probably be almost as fast as the Minolta, which would make it real scary.

The 458 vs 430 is a tough call. I don't think anyone can officially declare one better than the other. Personally I prefer the 430 and believe she's better for my driving style. There are a few road cars that'll destroy the ferraris. Mclaren F1, Nissan r390, GTR specV, to name a couple.

The vette RM is a bit too good for a corvette. No corvette should be that good imo. Then again so is the specV. They've made these 2 cars much better than they logically should be. I think PD is really biased towards nissan.

I bought a used car Saleen 02' I think it was.. It didn't test well and when i hit the wall in Indy I could see the right back end melt upward and deform and kept getting worse as i tried to race it. wasted too much Cr on that one..

Ya that car is crap, but nice to look at.

does anyone know if the Ferrari F1 cars are faster / as fast as the formula GT?

I haven't driven one yet. According to other people in this forum, the ferraris arnt better than the fgt. And the 2007 is better than the 2010.

i do have it on. 2 seconds isnt much, its probably because of our racing lines and braking. the 2 corners after the first U turn are the spots where anyones most likely to lose time. online thats usually where i overtake everyone.

if ure using a tuned car, touring car or race car you dont really need to brake at all when taking the first right and the left after that. Just let go of the accelerator a little before the turns. will need to brake just after the second turn when the road drops down and takes a sharp right into the underpass (tunnel).

its great youve started testing your cars too. It might get a tad bit boring after a while but It'll give you priceless insight when choosing cars for different races and tracks. everyone should do this. keep a record too.

hope this helps

I have the Skid Recovery Force off. I guess that accounts for the difference in lap times. For most of the cars, the difference is 0.5-1sec, but for cars that have less grip or less stable (like the 600hp Amuse S2000), the difference was close to 2 seconds.

I enjoy the middle range cars more (250-500 hp), and you don't have a lot of those in your list, so I'm concentrating on those at the moment.

So far, the best car I've found for this range was the 471hp, 1170kg untuned Takata Dome, which went just under the 1.10 mark (Skid rec. off.. you'll probably do 1.09). I'm sure you'll love the car as well. Bear in mind that it could be upgraded to 600hp, and it might well be better than the Nissan GTR's.

I'm amazed to see the Saleen S7 ranked so lowly

77)-Saleen---S7'02--------1125---823----1.34------1:13:472---------7-----6------5---------6

Its one of the best non race cars in the game imo. Seriously fast :)

on the contrary, I don't think having SRF off will have a negative effect once u get the hang of it. U should be faster. All driving aids actually slow down the car to make it a bit more controllable. This can very easily be seen if u turn on/off aids while farming at Indy.

The Jgtc cars are great. Even when upgraded to the max they handle amazingly. I love my ARTA nsx. Also have a takata dome nsx which I've chosen to keep stock for <500hp races. Great car.

sure she's fast, but handles really badly, one small slip and you'll lose the race.

I should give her an 8 for acc. Will change that

What caught my attension on it last night was the damage, i mean got hit back first try next i hit wall but damage was more then you'd expect. maybe its with all used cars now?

I doubt used cars are more prone to damage. Rally and touring cars supposedly get damaged more easily than road cars.
don't think I've seen much damage on my cars. I read somewhere damage gets activated at lvl 40. I'm still at 32.

Find out what skid is. The skid is like adding unreal physics to the game, automatically giving cars more grid and is because of that not actually an assist, but more of a speed boost. If you have tried the seasonal events without skid on you will think 'this can't be done'. In other words, you cannot be faster than the skid - only assist that gives a speed boost ;)

Skid automatically gives more grip to all cars and less wheelspin to wild cars = making all cars faster and wild cars are tamed and gets an extreme speed boost. The Zonda C12S 7.3 is a very good example. It sucks without skid :)

Nothing bad about the list at all, but everyone should be aware of the drivetrain, as 4WD cars are much easier to drive. Super GT cars are very good as well. The FGT is a beast without skid and I can't use it properly without - only car I use skid for!

I didn't know that. The impression I had was that it Slightly slows down the car or gives it a bit more grip when one pushes it over the limit. Speed boost? That sounds odd for a driving aid. I'll check it out for sure. Cheers.

Try the Ford Focus seasonal event without skid and then afterwards with skid. Huge difference. That's why you have the option to not display rooms that has skid allowed in online, as those who use it will have a speed boost compared to the others.

Yeah, as other people mentioned,SRF is not one of the aids that help you control your car at the expense of speed (like ASM or TC). It is basically the good old Standard Physics from GT5 Prologue; that is much better grip, which helps with turns as well as acceleration.

Many people rightly call it a cheat, but it is simply impossible to do a couple of the seasonal challenges without it. I always prefer the online rooms that force SRF off, for the sake of realisticness and fun. You should definitely try it. The game feels more real.

i was wondering why they had that option online. it makes sense now

Ive seen the "cheat" posts aswell, usually people calling ALL aids a cheat.
that never made sense to me as most of the aids (abs, trc) are available in pretty much all modern real life cars. so i didnt give it much thought.

thanks to you both for the info, i will definitely start turning skid off. 👍

If that was same Saleen i bought it damn sure couldn't take corner as well as corvette in Indy extreme american.

This.

I FULLY modded it in the hope that'll it could handle an oval.

All I got was a few crashes into the wall and a deformed body.

Damage is the same throughout all the levels.

But there are different extents to which different types of cars are damaged.

I was a bit miffed seeing the mp4-12c scoring so lowly... I haven't tinkered with the suspension, engine, or turbos and it is my favourite supercar on the game - tcs 1 abs 1 manual box, racing soft tyres ... it has traction like you wouldn't believe! (751bhp 1100kg)

I see what you guys mean. The effects of gravity are much more evident with SRF off. the cars personality gets exaggerated. I tried 5 different cars with it on and off today. Its definitely much easier to corner with it on. plenty more traction. And to make ur case stronger, no matter what i'd do there was a 2 to 3 sec difference in lap time. exactly what emanon was talking about. had to adjust the suspension too. Cars are definitely tamer with it on.

I dont see any evidence for a "speed boost"
even did a drag race with the ghost a few times. having it off didnt change acceleration at all really. negligible from what i could tell.
what kinda situations do you see the "speed boost" clearly?

All i can tell is that the cars grip in cornering increases and so does its recovery from bad driving. which is exactly what its name implies.
Id definately be cheesed off if it gave a speed boost. That would be the definition of cheat.

she scored a good lap time. at par with the enzo.
I personally didnt like it. not with the scuderia and SLS around. I was expecting it to have some of the mclaren f1 feel to it. mp4 just felt ok, not great, not bad, easy to drive. but thats just my opinion.

Speed boost comes from the fact that the cars are much faster around the corners, also making their exit speed faster, and so on. Cars with skid ON will always be faster by several seconds, that's why I call it a speed boost. More grip = more speed.
