Update on progress:

I've now completed all Street Races on Hard difficulty except for the one race which I can't win on Easy with a fully maxed car, it's near the end of the list in the Options menu with constant sharp turns and nowhere to build up speed.

I've also now completed all Touring Car races on Hard except for one of the family races where I could get clearance past Clarence but not past Scott before the race was over Oveur.

I'm not one to grind a single race/event so when I get a new vehicle I run all the races of the mode with that vehicle.

Yesterday and today I ran the Hard Street races with the F40 and the Hard Touring Car events with the MX5 from the prior summit. That got me the bulk of the way to the cash for the Ferrari Touring Car.

Tonight I've bought and used the Ferrari Touring Car. Overall impression is that I prefer the handling of the MX5. Also, theres no boost light showing up on the Ferrari when you press the boost button, which looks a little odd.

The Ferrari has more power and top speed but some of the TC races don't allow you to take advantage of that power.

Summit update: I am at 400k points with 100k + achieved on the F40 race and the two touring car races. This might be the first Summit where I get above Bronze level if time permits :P

I've been getting lucky with Platinum for these latest Summits. I'm probably at 15 or so. Basically since the F12tdf Summit. The Thunderwave Summit made me work for it, and the same might be said for the upcoming Touring Bike one if not more...

As for everything else, I got Ace done in the Street Racing and Offroad families and moving on to Freestyle. This will be fun...

find people to crew up that have more cars then you.
you don't get parts but you still get points

but i guess at your level, bronze is all you really need.

First glimpse of hobbies:

What I'm gathering is that they are themed challenges based on your preferred playstyle, which rewards you with exclusive items for hitting certain milestones. Think "Horizon Life" style progression.

I'm aware my prediction was way too ambitious...

These Hobbies seem to be lifetime achievements similar to the daily challenges to me? Instead of completing X events in a day or X000 feet in the air, and being rewarded with some Crew credits, you will have to have completed X races since you started the game or bought X cars to unlock "bragging rights" upgrades.

Which suggests there will be nothing actually extra to do (no new events or modes or whatever).

It may change how some people play a little, e.g. if you already have 9 cars out of 10 needed for an award, you might buy that 10th car instead of something else.

For those of you who have been playing for 2 years, I guess a lot of these lifetime achievements you will have already banked in the time you've played. But there will be achievements you wont have unlocked yet.

So, these Hobbies might not be a bad idea in the end. Something new to work toward for long time players who have completed the main game and, for people like me who haven't played long and still have oodles of other stuff to do, I will now have oodles to the power of 10 ...

EDIT That Road Runner Plymouth looks nice. I assume there will be other cars for the other 2 Hobbies. Wonder what the Hobbies and cars will be... new info released on Wednesday and Friday this week I reckon

Going by the Inner Drive trailer, the FC RX-7 and Hummer HX were shown frequently. So maybe they are the other two rewards.

So, in the Summit, I managed to buy the F40, the Touring Car and the 488 Pista Hypercar. I dont think I can face grinding all day today for the other Street Race car and the 812 is out of grinding reach.

I bought the Pista rather than the 812 Superfast as I worked out I'll have an easy Silver reward this time, which means the car parts for the Pista.

Wouldn't be much point winning parts without having the car to put them on...

I've also worked out it pays to be creative on the Summit skills. Running the Escape backwards got me onto the freeway and beyond 8,000 feet/yards/metres whatever it is...

try goin to the right and left too (i think you have to right this time, use your Pista) that road should lead you straight to the highway.

I hope that Huracan Performante and F12 TDF will be Hobbies rewards... If it is another stupid wheels, neons etc it won't have any sense for me.

Am i the only one who hates Vanity Items? Not only most of them looks stupid adds more cringe to already cringy game but also have no value for me. I would love to get cars or something better for this...

Both completely new cars (huracan and f12) are locked with broken Summits where only option to win is cheat with going around designated race route. I really hate that.

I think i should get rid of this game i lost hope for some really interesting additions like cops for example.

They are a mixed bag for me. The ones I do like end up being some of the less valuable items such as static, single-colour neon lights and tyres with designs which aren't too extravagant.

Yeah those simple one are good enough.... Still. I would prefer NFS Heat approach to this... With real tyre producers etc. I don't like those fake manufacturers in The Crew 2.

Sorry m8 have to disagree I have never needed to cheat in any summit and I am no alien driver its just about having the right parts on the right motor one guy even gave me his ps4 account so I could win the Performante for him last time I didn't even have to grind any new parts for him just used the right perks and tuned his rides the right way and I got him 1.300 place ;) he was doing it all wrong spent most the time moving parts around the racing was the quicker part lol. As for vanity items some looks pretty cool others i've used just to ugly up the ride

TL,DR
  • Had The Crew 2(Gold Edition) since day 1
  • Collected all the summit cars
  • Icon level 1400+
  • 233 out of 352 vehicles owned
  • Looking forward to do the Hobbies
  • Hoping to see more new vehicles added into Hobbies in the future
  • If that happens, it should be like FH4 Festival Playlist where players do challenges to unlock vehicles(feel free to disagree)
  • New events are needed since Inner Driver Live Summits don't have any
  • Used to play TC2 every 3 days for daily live contracts. Now logged in once a week for the summit
  • Hobbies should keep me playing more often than before
  • Liked the way dev's approach to unlocking new vehicles in FH4, which is why I think Hobbies should be like the Festival Playlist but not time based to get the vehicles (feel free to disagree with me)
  • Nice to earn exclusive vehicles by doing to challenges.

I am looking forward to complete the challenges in the Hobbies. Been playing The Crew 2(Gold Edition) since day 1, collected all the summit vehicles(only to managed to obtain the ones I miss first time around when they did the reruns), Icon 1400+ and, collected 233 out of 352 vehicles. Once the Hobbies gets unlock next week, I probably already completed few of the challenges. You know what, I was hoping that they would add more vehicles to the Hobbies in the future so if someone wants that vehicle, that person could just do the challenges and unlock the vehicle(similar to Forza Horizon 4 Festival Playlist. Some might disagree with that, which is understandable.

IVT needs to add more events to the game since the Inner Drive live summit events didn't include any. I used to play The Crew 2 every 3 days just to do daily live contracts but now I logged in once a week for the live summit since I have nearly 300,000 CC. With the Hobbies feature coming next week, this should keep me playing more often than before. It's also nice to unlock exclusive cars for doing the challenges. The reason why I mentioned Festival Playlist in FH4 was because I liked the way Turn 10/Playground Games did with the approach of unlocking new vehicles by having players doing challenges; complete x number of events in x car, earn x skill score, earn 3 stars in any speed zone to unlock x vehicle. I don't have a Xbox but I do enjoy watching people completing the Festival Playlist. In my opinion, Hobbies should be like the Festival Playlist but not time based, where players take their time to unlock items and vehicles by doing the challenges. Like I said before, feel free to disagree with me.

Sorry for the long text, it's a bad habit.

So IvT just release the Eclipse "Summit" car on The shopping directly for CC only.

Perhaps it's a bug like the Drift Evo showing by mistake or it's to try to sell the special editions cars of the Summit with the CC credits.

It's confirmed to be a bug. The same post also addresses P2W concerns as a result:

It's the latter.

They aren't really Summit Edition cars, they're just special models they've made.

EDIT:
Well, I guess it was a bug. And I just bought mine...

I'm surprised we have not heard about the second Hobby yet. My guess would be for a second announcement today sometime (if not today, its gotta be Monday) and then the final Hobby not being announced until they go live on 27th.

I am hoping one of the other Hobbies will be map related (e.g. "Explorer").

Re the 3 paths - I dont think they will be mutually exclusive. If you think about it the way you complete the game right now, e.g. the 50% of each vehicle type to unlock the driver challenge, is very open ended.

I can't see them making these Hobbies linear and restricted. But having said that, I'm just guessing...

I've had this game for a while and used it for free roaming and some easy racing. The menus confuse the heck out of me though. I'm hoping I can get it down because the customization and map are very cool and quarantine has given me a lot of time to play through most of my other games.

Really it's the whole menu setup in general. I have been playing Forza Horizon for so long that I am just overwhelmed. I found map filters so that made stuff easier. I'll keep around this section and hit you guys with questions as they come.

Welp, this Summit requires little effort. I am still sitting at 1000 and haven't touched this game since Thursday :)

Like I said, most Vanity Summits are less demanding than the car ones. These new Drift parts better be worth it.
