I’ve been doing some challenges and the UI is just worse and less helpful than in TC2.

Like it has one to go from the Waikiki parking lot to a harbor in 3 minutes, but the pin doesn’t indicate if you’re in the right spot or even what your time is. You have no idea it’s even working until you finish. It wasn’t like this in TC2.

I've already given up on this, I haven't even reached level 3 yet but it's taking so long to get there and there's zero motivation to do so. What's the point in letting you buy cars if you never get to use them in events? It's always loaned cars. Don't even get me started on the awful AI voice and the endless talking during races. Luckily I only played it on Ubisoft+ so it's not like I've lost a lot of money.

Super disappointing considering how much I enjoyed The Crew 2.
It is stupid that you can't even use your own cars in events, but at least you can drive them around the map. That's what I've been doing and it's a lot of fun. As for A.I, I've almost burst out laughing a few times listening to her. She talks to you as if you're a child who doesn't know squat about cars, but it never comes off as condescending. Look, I'm not a huge fan of the constant narration during races either but it's not unbearable enough for me to turn it off completely. Now for some more photos:

The needed Grind is just way to much to do every single week. To unlock the car in Main Stage, you'll need about 500k XP if it is in Level 3 and 2 Million if its on level hundred. Thats about 65/260 playlist races @ 5 Minutes each. So ~6 to 24 hours of non-stop racing to unlock it...

You can use your own cars in the playlists once you have finished them

To have fun!
Doing the playlists for the first time just 'unlocks' them.
Do you really want to drive every event or track just one single time?
I don't know, how many are there? Generally I put about 40-50 hours into a racing game before I get bored and given how slow my progression towards level 3 has been I don't think I'd ever get round to repeating the playlist events. I want a sense of ownership over my cars, I want to be able to level them up to compete, that whole game loop is really appealing to me and renting cars for every single event removes all of that.

Events/tracks? I don't know. 15 playlists each having around 6 to 8 events/tracks.
For your kind of play style I would suggest to do a playlist that interests you. Do all events of that playlist, unlock it and then take your favorite car, level it up, learn the track and raise the AI level.

Mainstage is monthly, not weekly.

If you go into a Crew game thinking about playing for 40-50 hours then this is not a right game, imo. I'm 60h in and I'm maybe at 30%. Still have Playlists to complete, challenges, feats and others activities. The Crew 2 wasn't that different.
Here you just have to go through a story first because racing games needs stories and a sense of progression for reasons. And I also understand why. Once you unlock every Playlists the map become a big mess of icons. Having everything available from start is not working for open world games.
I went into this game thinking about the future. How the game will grow over time. Both past Crew games grow up pretty well. TC2 just got a new Motorpass. And I want to experience this journey from the start.
But than I also really like this game. And I like to grind sometimes. So I'm biased I guess.

I really enjoyed The Crew 2, the progression in Motorfest feels much more difficult to track and I found the sheer amount of credits, XP, rewards, bonuses etc. a bit overwhelming. It definitely feels like this game is more geared towards a "grind for the end-game/online" play style, which is fine but it's just not for me. It seems to be going down very well with the intended audience though so that's a good sign. I played it on Ubi+ anyway so it's not like I've lost anything.

I was looking forward to the new vanity sound reward from the previous summit, 'rumble & tumble'.
Unfortunately I hear zero difference when equipped.

Has anyone tried it and can verify that it is not working?

I'm struggling to hear differences, too.

I haven’t tried it yet, but seemed like it was just for added backfires.

Replaying events is kind of a thing in today's racing games
Well I have done the WTC600 race a few times so I guess you're right. However replaying a playlist isn't the same as doing a race several times over for cash.

You are not forced into replaying the entire playlist with your own cars, I don’t think that’s an option where the game direct you to each race in the playlist either.

Once you complete the playlist, the races in the playlist just unlocked as a route that you can bring anything you want into it. You can repeat the same few routes you like for money grind, not run through the whole playlist.

Uhm… TC2 voices during races are way more annoying than TCMF IMO.

And the loan cars are only for the first time you do each playlist. Afterwards the races unlock and can be fully customised.

YES YES YES. I hated that Hiro guy because he was written to be pure cringe. Not once did I come close to laughing. Cara, on the other hand, has some hilarious lines that you wouldn't expect to hear from an AI. Particularly when she "reads" a message from Jim Hayfield (the Mustang guy). I almost burst out laughing. She's also self-aware, which is either funny, terrifying or both.

Well now you have completed the list you can try any race from the list with almost anything within reason i just did a motorcross race in the monster truck it was pretty funny

on a side note i liked being called "buttercup" by the AI hehe

Has anyone tried the flightmaster joystick with the game yet ? it worked well in the planes in the crew2 but now it doesn't go up or down just left or right and looks to be setup as a wheel 🤷‍♂️

So the game gets better, you just need to complete it once first? ;)

That said, I really don't mind the playlists with the loaner cars at all. So far I'm really enjoying this. Two points of improvement:

  • Please allow us to turn off CARA. The commentary is completely useless in the best cases, and it's completely spoiling surprises of prize cars in some of the worst cases. I don't mind the background info, etc. as it adds to the whole atmosphere, and I like the additional voicing during playlists, which is typically really great and informative, but the pointless chatter and spoilers need to go or be configurable. I'd prefer Scott Tyler over this and I hate that the game is making me say that.
  • Ghosts of other players/AI during freeroam: WTF: Yeah, let's play the 'will this oncoming car ghost or not' game all the time? There's literally nothing positive about this feature whatsoever, only negatives.

Still, those are minor things that I'm sure will be ironed out over time. Other than that the game plays fine, drives fine, getting real TDU vibes from this, a lot of times I even recognize the exact location I'm in based on TDU from years ago. :D

The Summit events have been fun despite me being ass because I don't have the best affixes.
Affixes isn't all that hard to gain. Max car, put 25LP in Lucky, farm full epic setup. Then reroll all parts into Lucky. After obtaining any gold part - respec it into Lucky. 1-2h of dedicated farm and you have 14+ legendary parts with Lucky and Ironhand. Profit.

After obtaining golden part - delete everything lower quality.

E-Express is my weapon of choice for farm.
