The Crew: Wild Run Edition

I'm not surprised they supported the first one for so long, they are trying to build up the brand before moving on to a sequel. Also keep in mind this game was in development for 7 years! You don't just crank out a game with a map this size in two years, it takes time. TDU was released in 2006 and shortly after that, key people on that team left Eden games to create the Ivory Towers studio. Development of the crew started in 2007 and the game was released in 2014. Now the question is do they just keep expanding TC or release a sequel. This game has over 5 million copies sold.

Didn't Eden Games make TDU2 as well? That was released in 2011 IIRC so it gives them around 3 years give or take to make The Crew. Unless they have parallel development of both games ongoing. That would put TC2 around 2017 release date if it's going to have similar content.

In the meantime, I think an expansion to Canada/Mexico/Alaska/Hawaii will complete the North America representation nicely. Then next sequels can expand to other continents as I suggested :D

Or move further south.

We can have the highway of death!

You mean Bolivia's Death Road? I googled highway of death and the Highway 80 in Iraq came up. Without butchering the map it would take a humongous effort to create Mexico + South America though.

Or maybe they're working on a sequel? I'm honestly surprised they kept supporting one game for that long instead of jumping on the sequel approach immediately *cough*SMS*cough*. Would be awesome if The Crew 2 is set in Asia. Crew 3 Europe. Crew 4 South America. Crew 5 Africa. Crew 6 Australia + Antarctica?

Between The Crew and Forza Horizon, I think in the future we will be able to drive a representation of the whole world in a car game :D

They will certainly be developing the next thing the studio are working on, whatever that is. You can't have people sitting around doing nothing while you're paying them unless you bring in new people every project.

SMS for example have supported Project Cars for over 12 months with a regular monthly update and they continue to support the game. If you don't get some developers employees working on the next project you go bust. They chose to announce Project Cars 2 as early as possible as the people (public) who want to be part of the development process needed and wanted to be on-board as soon as possible. Support for Project Cars didn't end on release by any stretch of the imagination.

I say, keep expanding. It might be a few years before Ivory Tower begins development on The Crew 2.

Also, it is just me, or am I the only one who's disappointed that there was literally no mention of this game at Ubisoft's E3 press conference? Well, there's still Gamescom...

Traditionally E3 is used mainly as a platform to announce new games so I am not surprised that we didn't hear anything new. Probably whatever they may have coming, they simply weren't ready to show it yet. If there is an expansion in the works, I think it will be story driven and offer a new single player campaign. Call it a hunch.

The team that would form Ivory Tower left in 2006 and began working on the Crew in 2007. They had nothing to do with the development of TDU2. Even David Nadal, the owner of Eden games had nothing to do with TDU2, he sold Eden games to Atari after TDU1 had it's run, and rebought the studio after Atari went under. Atari still owns the rights to the Test Drive name.

Here is something I saw on the game
The team has another Community Challenge lined up for you 510s, and this time they’re getting in the summer spirit!

From the 20th to the 26th June, your mission will be to obtain a platinum medal in any one of the game’s Scramble Skills… that take place on a beach!

You’ll have 3 to choose from - #27, #43 and #62 - each on a different coastline. In the East, you’ll need to head North out of New York; for West coasters, set the course for South of LA; and in the South, just cruise out West of Miami.

Remember you can also use the in-game map to point you in the right direction, by filtering by Skill Challenge type.

Anyone who comes away with a platinum medal for one of these Skills will win a shiny new Dodge Ram, so it’s definitely worth donning your sunglasses and hitting the beach!

Good luck petrolheads!

Saw the game was free on XBOX One. I have it on PS4 but nontheless I grabbed it for free and paid $25 for the WR expansion. Saved $15. :)
If anyone wants to play on XBOX One, add my GT: LitnigMcQuen59

If you purchase Wild Run, are the vehicles automatically added to your garage? Been test-riding the bikes which are good fun but are horrendously expensive.

No, you still have to buy them, but all of the cars from the season pass are automatically added to your garage if you purchase it.

I've been playing since Friday, I'm more impressed than I thought I would be! The scale of this game is immense, physics are easy to grasp and minus the puddles, the graphics are very nice. Only issue is the lacking incentive to purchase a second car (after playing the first chapter), I can only tolerate driving the same car for so long...

Alright. I assume the Wild Run setup pays pretty well?

The faction missions pay the best and you don't need Wild run for those. The longer ones pay the best like the coast to coast race starting in the LA area. You can filter the map by using the shoulder buttons and tabbing over to Faction & PVP. Look at the payouts and time before starting an event.

There is also a perk for sending friends on faction missions that makes good money, I think it's the 4th person you unlock for perks. Playing the main story will unlock the characters that offer perks, usually you unlock a new character for each section of the map, Midwest, East Coast, The South, Mountain states, West coast etc. You can send up to 4 people at a time to race for you. It's been awhile since I have visited the perks menu but I believe there are also perks that will increase your payouts for completing events, faction events should be one of them.

About Wild Run, it's worth it to do the Summit events, not only are they fun but you will also get Extreme points for completing them. With these you will be rewarded with free extreme specs like Monster Truck, Drift Cars and Dragsters. I only bought a Dragster spec in the beginning, since then I haven't paid for a single one and I have almost all of the extreme specs in the game. You do have to buy the base vehicles before you can install these kits. Keep in mind that if you don't have a particular extreme spec that you can still play the event, a vehicle will be loaned to you. I would also strongly recommend the vehicle discount perk that allow you to purchase vehicles at a discount. Have a look at the perks menu in the office at your base of operations tonight to see who you have unlocked so far ad read the description of all their perks.

Grabbed it because it's free, and it's surprisingly decent for an arcade racer. Enough of a distraction to keep me busy.

So, is there any way of making money decently quick? Completed the entire story without straying from my Mustang, but have since blown most of my cash on the Evora.

The prices for most rides are just nuts, and I've already hit 3/5 of the landmarks in the game.

I would grind PvP matches, faction missions, summits, and send friends on missions. Those are your choices for making money.

Two words: Highway Child.

Just started playing yesterday after downloading from XB Gold. Started with the Mustang.

Gamertag is RENNSPORT RS if anyone would like to add me/ join Crew.

So with the Steam sale, it's like $15... would this be a good game for messing around with modding/collecting cars and fun driving?
