The dominant car in GT5

I see this threading getting filled with personal opinions on individual preference because No one knows right now what car will be dominant just like no one could have predicted that the Honda S200, and the Clio V6 would be the giant killers they were in GT5P

I think the title of the thread is misleading. From his post, it seems he wants to know which car will be most picked by people, not which will dominate races.. Actually, rereading the post, he seems to be asking both.

Nissan GTR.

For the sole reason that it it will be cheap ingame just as it is in real life.

It won't be my favourite car, and nor will it be the fastest in its class. But its 4WD makes it easy to drive so it will be a choice for casual gamers too.

In GT5P money was so easy to come by, but the GTR was always the best first choice for a super car because it was so damn cheap.

Though i think the ZR1 and ACR Viper will be very attractive prospects, not just for the American users out there, but everyone. They are both considerably more expensive than the GTR though, even if they are cheaper than their Italians rivals.

As for the 'dominant' cars for online play, i reckon we will be seeing a lot of Fxxs (If it makes it into the game that is).

You just said what i wanted to say... GT will definetly be THE car for most gamers... cheap, fast and can fight with ferraris or lambos... cheers lad!

Suzuki Escudo

I would agree to that, if the physics were the same as older GT games (where you could wall drive / run / race / bounce...(you guys get the point) everything). I think the dominant car will either be something like the toyota GT-One, R92CP (gt4 black cars), the new Audi R10 (for Race cars) and the FXX or something similar for street cars.

For the first week I think the only thing we will see online will be R32 / R34 GT-Rs, because they are very cheap, and can stay competitive for a very long time. We'll be seeing a bunch of 1000hp+ GT-Rs online in no time.

The two most desirable cars for me, for the sheer pleasure of being able to look at them in my garage is the Lamborghini LP550-2 Balboni, a true raging bull loyal to Valentino's idea of a true supercar. A rear wheel drive monster that demands attention.

The second is the Aston Martin DBS. Just thinking about it makes me drool, and in HD, these cars are going to make magic happen.

considering it's GT, real life performance doesn't always matter much....

I'd say GT-R, all in all.

PD has a hard time placing handicaps properly, and being high-powered AWD from the start should give it an advantage, because in GT games, adding a lot of power usually hinders performance, which would make it dominate 475HP EVO's and such.

The truth is, there shouldn't be a "dominant" car, because everything should be handicapped, other than events where it's just stock cars against each other, in which case, there really aren't any with a huge standout advantage.

For offline play, it will have to be the Bugatti Veron, as it will probably the most powerful car, excelleration, top speed, being a bully, it has the credentials. For online, it could be any car, because of the performance points. I think a car with a seq gearbox, with great handling, probably a ZR1, GTR Spec V and ACR.
If it's a racing car, i'm gonna have to go with Woodone Supra, Minolta Toyota, Mazda's 7B7 or 391GT race car.

Based on previous games we may have to choose between categories:

. FF: megane or focus RS.
. MR: lotus or nsx.
. 4WD: lancer/evo (lower classes) gt-r (mid class) race car (upper classes)
. FR: s2000 (lower classes) c6 (mid low) mclaren f1/f roadster (mid up) race car (upper classes)

The GT-R probably will win over the Lambo.
With AWD and rain the main factor for a fast laptime is the suspension and the ride height. The Lambo is quite stiff and very low.
Heck! I saw a Youtube clip where a Skoda Octavia 1.4 Tsi almost beat a Auro R10 V8 in the wet on a small track.

The GT-R is more allround and will make a better overall laptime.
Besides, Lambo has a hint of cocaine-dealing/ woman battering / car demolied by " new money " smell over it. And it is an Audi. So far, no big plusses there :sly:

But, this will be final after I got my hands on GT5.

I'm not sure if it's been said before, but it's pretty much a given.

That made me laugh, so thanks. Mid-low. :D

I agree with the other guy (don't remember who and I'm too lazy to search) that said most people won't be able to drive it in the new physics.

I'm thinking the dominant car will be something new. Maybe the LF-A or the cover car, SLS.. Can't wait to find out!

Those cars are gonna be awesome, but definitely not dominant. I know they're 2 cars I'm really hyped to get in Gt5 though:drool:

I have a feeling they won't be in GT5.

Why? They are almost essential.

No PP = unbalanced races, and then we really will have dominant cars. Either that or PD limits races so that you can only pick from a very narrow selection of road cars, only about 2 or 3 (race cars might be OK since they all follow the same rules in their respective series).

The McLaren F1 is MR layout and I'm pretty sure they didn't make a roadster!

I think he's referring to the Zonda F roadster. But thats mid engined aswell

PP is required definetly, but i think they need to re-vamp the way they calculate it. But even so, there will always be one or two cars that are fastest in their class by quite a bit, because the non-power/weight advantages can't be measured accurately.

I can say in the super car classes, cars like the Aston Martin DBS are going to get absolutely slaughtered because they're simply too heavy and the centre of gravity is too high to compete. The Lotus Elise and Renault Clio will most likely dominate their classes as usual.

The GTR will likely dominate its class for the first week or so until people find/can afford better cars. The same way it did in the early days of prologue, GTRs everywhere!

That was me, but it's not a matter of not being able to drive. In GT2+, people could abuse its high hp and wall ride the whole track and still win.

I'm making a bee line to the LFA, to sample that glorious wail :D
It should handle real good too, in the dry that is :)

My usual standby will be a Subaru 22B and a Pulsar Gti-R (if it makes the game!)

Uhhh I guess I was wrong... fastest wet lap ever on Top gear track by the Stig! 👍

I hope it's not spoilt by something similar to the Citroen GT, which was given a stupid amount of power in the game.
