February 2005 = GT4
5.5+ years
November 2010 = GT5
After some math it turns out PD only modeled 3 "premium" cars per month for the last 5 and half years
Meanwhile in 2.5 years since Forza 2 Turn 10 has modeled 400 "premium" cars which look nearly as good as GT5 cars when not in game (360 cant handle them ingame). That's thirteen cars per month
And they're only going to have just 20 unique tracks
This would be acceptable if GT5 was released 2 years or even 1 year ago
PD better make up for it with an insane amount of online and racing features...otherwise Kaz has been squandering our money racing, sponsoring cars that fail to finish races, and doing red carpet events at movie premieres
Works out at 36 cars per year. If PD did 50 cars a year now the game is done say, then we would have 300 more cars done in 6 years. So 500 cars would be done in 6 years from now.
PD have known this for a long time and should see at that rate, by the time they get most up to PS3 quality it would be 2017.
Knowing this they should accept some of the cars should be out-sourced or take on a lot more staff. Doing it themselves is ridiculous.
Turn 10 knock out around 12 a month in DLC and would go inline with the dev of Forza 3.
I never expected a 1000 cars to be GT5P/GT5 quality but a good amount, say 500-600. 200 Premium and 300 in GT5P/Forza 3 menu screen quality with only finishing touches left to do before Premium level.
I think PD should've been more open about this too.
