Then frickin buy it already. It's not that expensive or hard to find, and it's much more worth your purchase than all these ridiculously overpriced shows you constantly have your eyes on... :P
Princess Monoke isn't limited edition only though. It's been in print for years, and for many more years to come. Fate/Zero won't for example. It's being released limited edition only in Japan and everywhere Aniplex USA is selling the BD import box set. You skip on buying it, and you're screwed for a physical release. Garden of Sinners was limited edition only, and the box set sold out before it's release (Despite being $500 for 8 movies.), and there has been no news of it ever being released ever again.

I already saw how Oreimo sold out in a little over a month, and I'm still shooting myself in the foot over failing to see the counter.

BTW, Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal is my most worthwhile purchase. It may have been $65 for 4 30 minute OVA's, but considering I absolutely love Trust & Betrayal, and it being one of my favorite anime of all-time, it was well worth it.

I'm not made of money like many people think I am. I'm currently focusing on buying stuff that's limited edition only, or limited edition that much later down the road I won't be able to get anymore. I'm lucky I got the second Dragon Box when I did (I got it back in August along with Dragon Box 1 during a Rightstuf sale, and got both together for $60.), because now it's hard to find, and going for hundreds on eBay and Amazon as that Dragon Box quality is desired a lot by many Dragon Ball Z fans.

Once I finally get that part-time job, I'll be buying more than just these limited editions. I'll buy it sometime, just not now.

I found another anime that seems interesting. It's called Yumeiro Patissiere. Have any of you heard of it? So far, I've only found subbed episodes, but I will, of course, wait as long as I have to for an english dub.

I like Shaft and whoever does Haganai and Erioland.
So Shaft all the way?

P.A Works made Angel Beats pretty and then they made Hanasaku Iroha pretty, this ALSO looks pretty. But like a dark, evil pretty.

Pretty.

Ah Yumeiro Patissiere. I watched it back when it was currently airing in Japan on Crunchyroll, along with the second season. It was fairly good (It was interesting seeing all those sweets, and Ichigo becoming a great pattiere.), though unfortunately season 2 didn't last all that long. Yumeiro Patissiere was 50 episodes, Yumeiro Patissiere Professional was 13 episodes.

CR had to remove it due to licensing restrictions months ago. As for an English dub, you may be waiting quite a while on that. Nobody here has been interested in picking it up, and with the state of the industry now, even if it does get picked up, it could end up subbed-only (As dubs are now less profitable, to even not profitable at all.).

Really? At least I have a few anime right now to hopefully tide me over till it is dubbed. I'm also kinda thinking about Chobits, if thats any good too.

Turns out I decided not to go for the vector and went reckless brush stroking insteadm, which btw is significantly more fun. WIP:

I'm hoping it at least gets released here at all. I suspect VIZ Media, FUNimation, or Sentai Filmworks will pick it up. VIZ Media might even pick up the manga hopefully.

That's all well and good, but have you ever stopped and maybe considered that people like you who hold out for and buy these overpriced and overlimited limited editions are actually hurting the anime industry?

All these limited edition anime that you seek out, which sell out quickly and can subsequently only be found from 3rd parties at even more excessive prices...

There's obviously plenty of demand for 'em, or at least plenty more demand than there are physical copies being produced.

Producing more would equal selling more and possibly expanding their market. Playing it safe by producing in limited quantities and selling them at ridiculous prices to the small number of people they feel they can be certain will buy it regardless of what they're charging will only help keep the market from expanding beyond a small niche, and it also supports rampant piracy.

No, because buying those releases supports the company. Buying Fate/Zero for example isn't going to hurt Aniplex of Japan in the long run. Also, how is it "holding out" when I'm going to try buying the first release Fate/Zero will ever get here?

Also, buying limited editions when there is a regular edition isn't really doing anything bad. When The Sacred Blacksmith's limited edition sold out, there was still the regular edition. You just didn't have that chipboard artbox, filler box, and art book.

They're at least giving people a choice of streaming in many cases. While Oreimo sold out, it can still be watched for free legal streaming, Fate/Zero has that same option. Garden of Sinners has SD rentals on the PlayStation Store. Sound of the Sky also is up for free streaming whenever that finally sells out (It came out in early July, and is still on sale.).

Many of these limited edition only things do at least have streaming and downloads, but as you know with me, I'm never satisfied with just streams and downloads. I want a physical release.

Also nobody buying these releases is a problem as in the process they'll lose money, and won't be able to do certain things in the future. If Fate/Zero doesn't sell at all (It will, it's still on Amazon Japan's best-selling list for anime BD's.), it will only hurt Aniplex in the end as they rely so much on the BD sales.

It's a doube-edged sword. People for example are pissed still about VIZ Media releasing just episodes 1-13 of Monster and then stopping (Because it sold bad for them due to a legal issue I heard with the music that was out of their hands.). Many have gone onto "I won't buy from VIZ Media again until they finish releasing Monster physically instead of digitally.". How are they going to get the money to do that if nobody buys from them? Releasing stuff is expensive.

Moe shows? Here's a list you can sink your teeth into:
-Fortune Arterial
-World God only Knows
-Clannad
-Kanon (2006)
-Angel Beats
-Aria: The Animation, and its sequels
-Haruhi Suzumiya (you probably seen this already)
-Lucky Star
-A-Channel
-Seitokai no Ichizon
-Toradora!
-Boku wa Tomodachi ka Sukunai
-Nichijou

I'd recommend these, but they may be too violent, vulgar and obscene for you. :P
-Omamori Himari
-Kampfer
-Yosuga no Sora.... you other guys reading this got a big smirk on your face right now I bet. :D:rolleyes:
-Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls
-Shakugan no Shana
-Seikon no Qwaser
-Hidan no Aria
-Bakemonogatari :P
-Majutsu no Index (Biribiri is mine btw), followed by Kagaku no Railgun

Didn't you say Kampfer is only worth watching for the fanservice? Why are you recommending it?

It supports the company in the short-term, yes, but it also re-enforces their bad business practices which are hurting themselves in the long run.

And by holding out, I mean you're not buying any non-limited editions of other things because you're so worried about missing out.

Took note, and carefully revised my list. Thank you for your excellent contribution.

Who said I'm recommending good shows? I only listed down shows I know with moe appeal.

edjt: Oh god I just remembered that scene where Accelerator knocked the frock out of that teleporter.... everytime I imagined her beaten face I always go "Daaamn!"

Well how would you feel if you had the chance to own a show physically only for it to sell out, go for inflated prices, and you regret missing your chance?

Also, at times limited edition only is the better route. It gets rid of reprinting costs, and having to hold onto a license (You have to renew them, and the costs aren't cheap. Many titles here won't stay licensed forever.) for example.

Also while it may "re-enforce" the practice, as I stated before, you don't buy, they lose money, and if it happens enough times, they go under. You just deal with it.

Now for a different example on something a little different, Clannad. Clannad was originally released in two 12 episode box sets here subbed-only. Same for Clannad After Story (Except the second box set had 13 episodes.). The box sets sold so well for Sentai Filmworks that they went back and dubbed the series.

If people just went "Oh, buying these will only make more subbed-only releases happen. I ain't paying for just the sub.", then this would have never happened, and Sentai wouldn't have gotten the money to dub other releases (They're dubbing more now.).

On a side-note, anime is pretty much a short-term thing in Japan anyway. Many titles don't even stay on the market for 5 years. The BD's are usually limited edition only (The DVD's aren't, but the otaku's care hardcore for BD.), the BD box isn't, and yet, you have like 5 some years to try owning the series.

Clannad, Toradora! and Angel Beats! are must watches though.

That's because Accelerator is BOSS.

Well I think Other Anime on the [as] boards helped me with anime recommendations enough now. I'll also refer to the list here for some. The biggest problem for me right now is, I have all these shows (Even before the recommendations.) that I want to watch after I get through many of these on-holds, I just don't know what to watch first.

Also I'm thinking about watching Reborn! on Sundays as after the last Nura 2 recap airs, and I finish that, Sunday is completely empty. I probably will end up watching two episodes on Sundays starting this Sunday. People finally convinced me to watch it after I asked how it was. Hopefully the show is good as it looks as that flame stuff looks epic.

Mornin' all. *checks watch* Crap, I mean, good afternoon, all. *looks next to him in bed* "Good afternoon, Asuka."
"Put a sock in it."
"Like what Mari did last night?" :sly:
*retreats under covers*

Your argument is invalid. Suck it. :P
Is it wrong that I want to write a "V" over that "F"?

Hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Bad, baka-Andre, bad!
Why do those shades remind me of Tite Kubo? :odd:

You should also look into Grave of the Fireflies (Which is being re-released as a remastering here in March. I'll try picking it up to see what the movie is about.), I see nothing but amazing things about it. AOS- gave it a 10/10.

So did I, which is more important. :D

And hell yes! Another! I'm super excited for it.

👍

Ahhh busted!

Geez, waiting for dubs? And you still call yourself an otaku? Just watch subs already man.

Don't watch it for Mami, that's a stupid idea.

You watch Puella Magi for Homura and Madoka 👍

Pffff... Don't watch it for those bitches... watch for Kyouko :P
