Sweet documentary

Agreed, though a thing to note is becoming a mangaka is definitely hard. It's a profession only for the hardworking as once you become a mangaka, and if you're doing a weekly series, prepare for you to have little free time, and little sleep.

As for editing, editing to manga and anime doesn't happen all that much these days. Nearly everything gets released uncut these days still.

As for how manga sells worldwide, unfortunately the market here in America is going down the drain. We hit a peak in 2007 with sales, now we're back to like 2003 level says.:ouch:

Also, did I see an issue of the American Shojo manga magazine Shojo Beat in the manga museum?!!:dopey:Too bad the magazine died two and a half years ago here. I have the last four issues of that, it was a fairly good magazine. Shonen Jump is going to join it, though luckily all that's happening is it's going from a print monthly magazine to a weekly digital magazine.
Ayt people, add my 2nd account on PSN since there are no HK PSN cards here in Cebu. I was about to buy some DLC for GT5 but then only SGD and USD PSN cards area available at the stores I visited. Damn Philippines not being in the list. PSN's SayakaMiki1337.

I'll just leave a pic if you think I'm going off-topic.

Dat revolver.

EDIT: Also add my 3rd account, SayakaMiki3371. I'm in a dilemma of which kind of PSN card should I take, LOL

EDIT 2: I'M PARANOID, HERP DERP DURRRRRR
Yeah, it sucks how those in the Philippines can't pick the Philippines because it doesn't exist on the list. People there are forced to pick another country to make a PSN, even though it's a bannable offence to make an account for a country you do not reside in. Sony makes absolutely no sense in that.

Finished Xenosaga: The Animation, and I must say, yeah not all that good, 6/10. They changed, and took out many things from the game, but that's what happens when you try making a 50 hour JRPG into a 12 episode anime. It's kinda hard for me to explain why it's a 6/10 to me, but it's not all that worth watching.

I'm not sure if the ending of the anime was faithful to how the first game ended as I still haven't beaten it, but I'm very close to. Speaking of the games, I still have yet to get the second and third games.

I'm guessing that AOS- is not pleased that the spear that Asuka's holding in today's OADA is not a few inches to the left. :/

I still don't see what was wrong with it...

If you didn't appreciate the slow, witty banter between characters and trippy scenes. Then I guess that's your loss.

Will Nisemonogatari beat Madoka Magica in week 1 BD sales, which beat Bakemonogatari in BD sales? It'll be interesting to see./Random

Also, I wonder when Aniplex USA will ever license it. I heard they were in negotiations for Bakemonogatari.

Well what do you know, the Blu-ray box for Bakemonogatari is a top-seller now.

Also WTF, Maburaho on Blu-ray? Too bad it lacks English subs.:grumpy:
Maburaho Blu-ray box
Strike Witches with English subtitles on the Blu-ray box, I could dig it.

I think I may end up importing anime in the future quite a bit.:scared:

Trying to weaken the US anime market, bro? :P
No. You seem to not understand the people who import all that well. Don't tell me you're trying to be like this guy who considers those who import to be almost on the same level as the pirates. I can't remember where he said it in there.

Also you do realize many importers also support the NA market right? Take a look at this person, they imported, and bought NA releases.

What I'm planning on importing isn't here at all. The Air BD box for example will never come here as titles that go in FUNimation's S.A.V.E. line will never get a BD re-release.

With The Big O, the BD box I highly doubt will ever come here due to how it's Bandai who has it here, and how many years have passed.

So couldn't the same be said for pirates? Just 'cause they do take illegally doesn't mean that they don't buy at all.

I can dig these. You can't count on Bandai here at this point to give these BD releases here.
Lucky*Star Blu-ray Box with English Subtitles and English Dub
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Blu-ray Box with English Subtitles and English Dub
[Edit]Wow, the Lucky*Star BD box has the dub as well.:)

I'm well aware, I've accepted those who buy in the end. I just have a problem with the ones who never buy (And by that I mean, not buying any release whether it be R2 or R1.), no matter how much they loved a show.

I don't know whether importing is worse than piracy, or vice versa. So I have no opinion on that regard.

But here's the ways that piracy, at least piracy of anime not available in the domestic market, is better than importing: Any money that would've gone to importing can be used for purchasing anime available in the domestic market. Which is as good for the overall anime market as importing (you're still buying anime, just different anime), and more importantly, it's better for the domestic anime market and economy.

This is true even if, as an importer, you still buy some domestically available anime. Just because you're still buying domestic anime doesn't mean you're buying as much as you could've if you didn't spend so much importing things.

Importing isn't on the same level as piracy as money is going to the animation companies. With piracy, no money is going to anyone.

A thing to note with importing, R2 releases earn more money than R1 releases. R1 releases at this point end up just being gravy for the animation companies. When you buy an R1 release, part of the money goes to the R1 company, and another part the animation company.

When you buy an R2 release, all of that money goes straight to the animation company.

Importing is not on the same level as piracy, trust me. This person got it down on what importing can do.
And this is why people don't take certain mega-fans seriously. I don't pirate anime, so I would prefer to be able to afford to buy a decent amount of it instead of slapping down half a grand for 12 episodes of a single show.
That's your prerogative and that's great. Just don't go off spouting that someone who decides to import anime is almost on the same level as people who pirate.

Do remember that directly supporting the Japanese industry helps them create more anime that possibly might be licensed by R1 folks since importers are in the minority of the US fandom.

Wow, it's like you didn't even read my post.

Maybe if you're a jerkwad, piracy = no money going to anyone. But otherwise, if you're only pirating anime because it isn't available in the US, it's safe to assume your disposable income is still going towards anime... only domestic, rather than imported.

Buying R2 releases = A little more money for producing anime, but more of it also stays in R2.
Buying R1 releases = A little less money for producing anime, but more incentive for it to come to R1.

Being that I'm an English-speaking US citizen, the latter option seems more important to me. 👍
